- Happy Birthday: 6 years on Steam - 14 February 2026
Hey guys,It's Casual Desktop Game's birthday today. Yay! 🥳Six years ago, Casual Desktop Game transitioned from Early Access to Full Release on Steam. I'm really happy how the game evolved in the last years. And I'm also very happy and thankful for your support though the years. Thank you! Altough, I haven't made any content ready for this year's birthday, I still wanted to post a news for this wonderful occasion. I hope you're all having a great weekend and valentines' day. There will definitely be more updates soon. Since the core game is in a very stable state, I want to focus more on community mods. This will constantly provide cool things to explore (and much madness to cause, hehe).Thank you all for flying with Casual Desktop Game!Kind Regards
- Casual Desktop Game December Patch 2025 - 15 December 2025
Patch 2025 is now live! The latest patch will introduce awesome gameplay updates that will further expand your gameplay experience. 🕹️ With this update you'll now be able to save / load scenes using the blueprint feature. This will allow you to create cool battle scenes that you can just quickly load and save, and alter whenever you want. A blueprint state will include all combat entities as well as the current selected background (if any). Another cool thing - that was also requested by the community - is the pause key toggle. This is especially useful if you want to take a longer look at a frozen state of your current destruction - and make better screenshots. Furthermore two more fireworks tools have been added, given that we're heading closer to new years eve: The cake and the mortar. Check out for yourself! See a full changelog below.Note: Since there have been changes applied to t…

This way you can create cool scenes that you can save and load whenever you want. There will be a special menu section "Blueprints" that allows you to load or remove blueprints. If you want to save a current blueprint state, you can just press S on your keyboard. Also blueprints consist of simple INI files, so you can share them easily.Another thing that I'm adding is the "entity pause" button. Just press P on your keyboard and all spawned entities stop processing until you press P again. This allows to create better screenshots or simply…

- Sneak Peek of the new Fireworks tool - 1 December 2024
Hey guys, in the light of the upcoming anniversary update, I figured I wanted to share a nice change with you all. One of the cool updates also affects the fireworks tool, which is included by default within the game. Until now the tool was, frankly, very boring and unspectacularly. But not anymore. I improved the fireworks tool greatly and I believe that you will like it, too. At least I hope so. :) Honestly before the update, I considered removing the fireworks tool from the game, because I really found it bad and was afraid it could put a bad light on the game. I really wanted to improve it for a long time, but it was hard to find any suitable sprites. At best I wanted to have a complete animation as a spritesheet for various fireworks explosions, but that did not work out without financial involvement. BUT fortunately I eventually went a different path for the improvement: I used so…

- [Mods] Upcoming updates to the API - 3 November 2024
Hey there, good news! The update for February 14th, 2025 is almost done. This update will be a celebration of 5 years of Casual Desktop Game on Steam. Due to this update, there were some changes to the Tools API, specifically two new methods were added to the IScriptedEntity interface that need to be implemented by classes that implement that interface. Here are the two new methods: //Can be used to overwrite the current position with the given position void SetPosition(const Vector& in) //Can be used to overwrite the current rotation with the given rotation void SetRotation(float fRotation) Altough the new update is not yet published, you can already update your mods accordingly. Furthermore there will be the following new API functions added: //Get the current global volume int32 S_GetCurrentVolume() //Returns the absolute path to the tools directory string GetToolsPath() //Can be use…

We do also have a Mastodon account now. It's basically a bot that occassionally posts screenshots of the game. Feel free to follow us there: https://mastodon.social/@casual_desktop_game Also we still do maintain a Twitter account: https://x.com/casualdeskgame Kind regards

- New game homepage - 22 March 2022
Hey guys, The domain of the official game homepage changed. Instead of a .net domain it is now a .com domain. Why? Because many products have a .com domain even if they are for free.
