- 1.3 version live! - 3 June 2019
Hi! You should have soon a little update on the game. Here is a list of the main changes: Fixed some typos and localization errors in the game, menus and credits. Added the "Controls Reminder" in the pause menu, to get an overview of the controls without having to exit the current chapter. Adjusted the behaviour of the screen reader mode: NVDA and VoiceOver are now more reliably detected on Windows and Mac OS, and automatically turn on the screen reader mode in the game. Added a keyboard shortcut to enable the screen reader mode from anywhere in the game: press the "S" key for 5 seconds to toggle it. Fixed a bug where the pause menu couldn't be opened correctly when the screen reader mode was enabled. Fixed some of the menu elements that weren't working properly when the screen reader mode was enabled.
- Alt-Frequencies review: a time-looping radio mystery that doesn't quite get there - 22 May 2019
In George Orwell's 1984, you're swept along in a revolution you don't really know anything about. It's so secretive because the stakes are so high. One wrong move and, kachunk, you're disappeared, and it's frightening. It feels the same in Alt-Frequencies. From the moment it begins, you know you have a role in something bigger. There's something very wrong going on at a state level and you know the truth is out there somewhere. You know that because a pirate radio station told you. You heard an illicit truth and now you want more. But who are you, who are they, and what is the truth? You will have barely scratched the surface of the answer before time will loop on you. The five-to-10 minutes of radio you've been listening to will, after the screen fades to white, repeat on you. This time-loop is central to everything. It is the story you're chasing and how you chase it. Read more
- Alt-Frequencies tunes into a time loop today - 16 May 2019
Alt-Frequencies , the strange time-looping audio adventure from Accidental Queens (the folks behind A Normal Lost Phone), is out today. It’s an oddball puzzle, set entirely in the comfort of your own home, listening to the radio. Problem is, the world (minus you) is repeating the same three minutes over and over again, and you’ve got to somehow break out by recording messages from the airwaves, and sending them in as a caller. A coffee-break Groundhog Day scenario, then. Have a listen at the audio-heavy trailer below, although the game itself is fully and helpfully subtitled. (more…)
- A Normal Lost Phone developers tuning into Alt-Frequencies - 4 April 2019
After packing a mystery into a pocket telephone with A Normal Lost Phone and its sequel, French studio Accidental Queens are next broadcasting a time-looping mystery over the radio. Alt-Frequencies is set within a three-minute time loop, the same stretch of Monday repeating over and over – but we can influence the next loop. By recording and broadcasting snippets of various radio stations, apparently we’ll get to uncover a conspiracy and learn more about people and… huh! I’m interested. (more…)
