After a year and a half, strategy RPG We Are The Caretakers leaves early access today. Caretakers will receive a new patch at launch, adding in the fourth Era of the campaign. This closes out the game’s story with five more missions, an end-game, and other final improvements. Patch 1.0.3.0 for We Are The Caretakers is now live with a host of balance changes, improvements, and polish! Change List: Added functionality for "Animal Sanctuary" technology. At the end of each Era, if you have this tech unlocked, there is a chance to gain +1 Raun Power directly tied to your Reputation. (ex: if you have 60 reputation, you have a 60% chance to gain +1 Raun Power). Added transmission feedback message to show when this Raun Power is earned. Changed debris wall spawners in era 2 missions to reduce changes of units being stuck when spawning from towns nearby. Added portrait and description for Graveyard map object in Era2M1. After a long period of design and tech work on the game, I'm pleased to share we've released a major update that includes 2 months of all new content, fixes, updates, and final launch prep. That's right, after 4 and half years and nearly 2 years of improvements in Early Access, we're really close to releasing the final game, and this update sets the stage!! If all goes well with our final dev work, We're releasing the 1.0 version of We Are The Caretakers in early January! We've just released version 0.77 for We Are The Caretakers, bringing a host of new improvements and bug fixes across the game. Here's the full list of changes! Features Added a new transition sequence between Eras that includes the Era name, current year, and narrative description for the events that will take place. Music themes now change in the HQ during the Era transition instead of later. Fixed poacher units being able to initiate another attack sequence on a Raun they just wounded in the field. We're excited to release a new "Mega Fix" update that addresses an incredible 40+ new features and bugs. We played through the Early Access campaign as a team and addressed as many items both small and large to improve the overall campaign experience. - Threat System Update! V0.74 is now live! - 16 April 2022
We're pleased to share our latest update to We Are The Caretakers, featuring a refresh of the encounter "Threat System" and the threat UI. This change helps clarify when threat changes, what the threat level impacts, and what will change as threat raises or lowers. We think it will be much clearer what is going on, and reveal a new layer of strategy in encounters. Change list: Threat Ring UI has been replaced by a threat bar, that includes markers for important changes such as the threat level, or when enemies will flee. Hovering on the threat bar reveals all possible states, as well as detailed tooltips of the buffs/debuffs that are currently active. Fixed a bug where threat level tooltips would display incorrect threat impacts (critical hit mods, charisma mods, etc) Added a helper "?" icon to explain the threat system. A new update is live featuring all new sound effects, bug fixes, and improvements to audio across the game. There are still a number of sound effects changes still to come, but this update gets us a lot closer to a polished audio treatment for the game! Fresh off of our major v.70 release earlier this week, we've just pushed another small update full of additional bug fixes, and some all new combat sound effects. Change List for Version v.71: Fixed soft crash in Era 2 Repair mission and other missions featuring the "Drone Specialist" enemy class. New Sound Effects added for Poison Cloud, Rally, Menace, EMP, and War Horn abilities. We've just released a new update (version 0.70 Early Access) that includes a massive list of fixes and new features across the game. The team has been working to address the community's feedback while getting brand new content ready for our 1.0 launch later this year. Another early access update (version .55) just went live, and it focuses on improving the survival mode and laying some ground work for dynamic difficulty/settings in future updates. We're back with a new update to We Are The Caretakers, packed with a number of fixes and improvements across the game. Version 0.54 highlights include updates to the Atrium "Visitor/Detainee" resolution system, polish in encounters, new Boss Identification UI and effects, and many bug fixes. Following our recent Major Update, a new update (v0.51) is now live for We Are The Caretakers, with some bug fixes and QoL improvements. Here's the full change log! Change List: Changed how traits are added when upgrading and demoting characters in the Job class tree to prevent excessive duplicates on a character. Traits are no longer added when demoting a character to a lower-tiered class. A random class trait is removed when demoting as a deterrent to excessive demotions.
