- After three years in early access, Farthest Frontier is the city builder that's tearing me away from Manor Lords - 24 October 2025
Farthest Frontier 1.0 is finally upon us, and I'm ready to plunge myself into its stunning world. Developer Crate Entertainment has already proved itself as an indie underdog with some serious bite; its dark-fantasy ARPG Grim Dawn remains a must-play for fans of that genre. Now, after three years in early access, Farthest Frontier is finally fully formed, and it's bringing a similar level of polish and depth to challenge the best city-building games on PC. Feeling like a spiritual successor to Banished and with a farming system that'd make Stardew Valley jealous, it's a serious contender among the best medieval games too, and now's an ideal time to start. - Farthest Frontier review - 22 October 2025
Priorities. That's what managing a medieval city is all about. Farms are important for long-term survival, but fishing and gathering makes more sense if people need food quickly. Chopping logs into planks means construction on new buildings can commence, but if people are freezing in their homes, that timber should be turned into firewood instead... Read more.

- 86% rated medieval city builder launches soon after three years in early access - 26 September 2025
Early access is the norm for many games these days, but it's still exciting when the developers call time and announce that their creation is finished. Huge titles like Hades, Baldur's Gate 3, and, um, Hades 2 have enjoyed the benefit of close collusion with players during their respective development periods. This allows players to have an input on design decisions, and gives the developers a far wider group of playtesters, as well as funding to continue production. One such early access game that we've had our eyes on for the past few years is Farthest Frontier , which launches v1.0 next month. Read the rest of the story...
