Without further ado, let’s dive into all of the new features of this update. The first version of the randomized level system has now been implemented, along with the level generation menu which is accessible from the main menu. The random level generator allows you to gene…
- Happy New Year From Highrise Software! (Update v0.4 Sneak Peek) - 8 January 2022
Hello everyone! We're wishing you all a happy new year! The last couple months have been hectic for us to say the least, with universities starting to reopen and then closing again; it seems as if the same thing is happening to society as a whole nowadays. Despite the state of the world around us, we have been hard at work improving and adding new features to Linklight. We realize that we have not been as communicative the last several months and we do apologize for that, it is something we are trying to work on. We are trying to find the best approach to take to keep you all in the loop while we work and maintain our personal lives. As we come closer to the full release of Linklight expect to hear from us a lot more. Getting to the good stuff, we are proud to say this will undoubtedly be Linklight's largest update since its early access release. A while back we held a poll asking our c…

- Update v0.3 - Panning, Zooming, & UI Poll Results! - 13 May 2021
Hello everyone, First and foremost, I want to apologize for our lack of communication in the last month. The two of us are college students and this time of the semester is generally hectic, however this semester in particular proved to be a lot more hectic as a whole than either of us had anticipated. As a result of this the amount of work we were able to put into updating the game was unfortunately hindered; in particular we have not made as much progress as we would have liked in regards to randomized levels. To make matters worse we ran into unexpected issues when implementing panning and zooming into the game's engine. Despite all of this however, we have made some bug fixes and managed to implement panning and zooming for levels. Using the CTRL key you can toggle panning and zooming by holding the key down while playing a level; once toggled the mouse wheel can be used to zoom in…

- [POLL] The New UI Unveiled: Please vote! - 7 March 2021
Hello everyone, we're back this month to unveil the new UI that has been in the works! We're both very happy with the result so far, and we hope you all will be too. I mentioned this in the last development blog, but I just wanted to reiterate why this new UI was created in the first place. Ever since the Winter 2020 update we felt that the game had strayed further away from being minimalist, more so than from before the update. Overall we had felt that the current UI was a bit too crowded, too noisy, and a bit too complex. This new UI is our attempt to bring the game to a much more minimalist state. The both of us are in favor of moving the game towards this new UI, however we want to hear from all of you as well. Ever since we started Early Access we knew community involvement would only improve the game as a whole; all of you who have given us feedback and suggestions so far are livi…
- Linklight Development Blog III - Update v0.2, Optimizations, & Moving Forward - 7 February 2021
Summary: This February marks about one year since we first started development of Linklight; we're both incredibly happy with the progress we've managed to make in that time. This month we focused on optimizations, most of which were done to the game's engine's rendering process. We overhauled this entire process which should lead to significant FPS gains for all users, most notably on larger levels. Both of us noted an overall FPS increase of around 700% on our personal machines, with one of the worst performing levels going from ~25 FPS to ~150 FPS. Going forward we have two sets of goals for Linklight; one set of short term goals and one set of long term goals. For the short term: There is an entirely brand new UI in the works for Linklight; the focus of which is to make Linklight's UI much more minimalist than it is in its current form. After this design is finished, we will make a…
- Update v0.2 - Optimizations! - 3 February 2021
Engine Overhauled the entire rendering process, leading to significant FPS gains across all systems. Hello everyone! We've managed to make a lot of optimizations to Linklight's engine this month, most specifically the rendering process. All users should see quite significant FPS gains, especially on much larger levels. We've also done some refactoring of the game's internal code, but this is not something you all will be able to notice unfortunately; it does make our lives a lot better though! In the next update video, which should be posted by the end of the week, we will demonstrate the comparisons on one of our own computers. We will also talk about our plans going forward as well. Thank you all for continuing to support us! Highrise Software

- Linklight Development Blog II - Reflection, Update v0.1, & January Plans - 3 January 2021
Summary: 2020 has been a wild ride for most people, ourselves included. From having Linklight written out on sheets of computer paper at the end of January, to life seemingly changing overnight back in March, to days upon days of being indoors and creating the rest of the year, to finally releasing in November. It has certainly been a one of a kind journey. Fast forwarding to now, the major update has been well received so far, so we're incredibly happy. There are no major bug reports or issues that have been discovered as of yet thankfully; however, we discovered a minor UI bug that will be patched this upcoming week. Linklight has also now sold just over 100 copies! This is an incredible milestone for us, and we can't believe we managed to hit it before the year ended. I know we say thank you a lot, but thank you all so much again for the incredible support we've received so far! We h…

Campaigns Winter 2020 Modified the design of level 9 to reduce its difficulty.
- Update v0.1 - The Winter 2020 Update - 25 December 2020
Happy holidays everyone! The winter update for Linklight has finally arrived! This is Linklight's first massive update and we have a lot to talk about. Our major focus for this update was to add some new content for all our players, which has come in the form of a new campaign. The Winter 2020 campaign is now available for all players! It was not easy to fit the design of the levels in such a small space, so by natural design a lot of these levels are quite large. There are fifteen new holiday themed levels in total! Don't let the size of these levels intimidate you. You can now solve parts of it and come back to it another time without losing your progress. We have added mid-level saving at the request of our community. For all of Linklight's campaigns, the highest level you have completed in that campaign will have mid-level saving enabled. Basically, the levels that you have unlocked…
- Dev Blog 1 - Next Steps - 1 December 2020
Summary: We're incredibly thankful to everyone who has supported us so far, it means to world to us. We're really happy to hear people love the game, and we're going to be working on making it even better. Our current focuses will be optimization and adding new content for the upcoming holiday season. We will focus on optimizing the game for lower end computers; most of these optimizations will be done in the game's engine. This includes optimizing the engine's input handling, initial load time, and overall object generation. We will also be focusing on adding some new content to the game. This will include a new internal object that will most likely be some sort of obstacle, a system to separate sets of levels both internally and in the UI, essentially different campaigns for the game besides the main game, and finally some new festive themed levels. For the long term, our goals remain…

The Steam Forums have been our primary point of contact so far, however we have additionally decided to setup a Discord server for our community. In this server, you will be able to keep up to date with the development of the game, easily provide us with valuable feedback and bug reports, or just have somewhere to hangout; we're friendly I promise! https://discord.gg/TkDkyJWRpA You can find us in the Steam group chat on Linklight's community hub as well.
