- Patch Notes 1.49.1 - 28 September 2020
Patch Notes 1.49.1 Several Asteroid fields have been modified to fix some collision issues. More 'loot boxes' have been moved slightly to allow better access. An issue with the Turbo lift on Gal-Fed Hub 1 has now been resolved. No more portals to another location lol. Nicely reported @ram2000. The lifts in question will become activated at a given Faction ranking giving access to further decks later in-game. Derelicts explored should now count correctly. Unclear why but steam did not pick up on this change when I released 1.49.0 Apologies these will now count. Thanks to the constant flow of feedback (from a few of you) I'm getting on top of the spelling mistakes. Spelling is my personal poor spot so hit me when you see them :) Please either include an image or at a minimum the location and system - action etc. All reporting via our discord channel, please. Scenery issues were fixed on a…
- Release Notes 1.49.0 - 22 September 2020
Release Notes 1.49 The last few weeks have been one of collecting reported issues and fixing them, whilst working on some aspects of the game for stability. This version brings nothing new to the content but is just as important. Please check the fixes and updates. LAG The first issue that's been hounding us since the first week of release is Lag. By that, I mean in some situations the game becoming unplayable due to system lag. Working with DStar7 and SMO I believe we have got to the bottom of it and with a lot of testing and re-editing, I believe it's now been resolved. You should note that the publicised minimum spec for Captain Hannon is an Intel I3. We did all our testing on an I3 laptop and an I5 Nuc, both with 4gb's of Ram on Windows 10. Mileage may vary at around the I3 level, for instance, old Dual & Quad cores have been reporting it plays fine, while others have some lag issue…
- Release Notes 1.48f - 14 September 2020
Release Notes 1.48f A quick mini update today merging some bug fixes and small changes and edits. Spent today going over the crafting schematics with a fine-tooth comb as I realised one of them had an error in it. Currently, we have 61 Schematics in-game. I created a new category in the Crafting / Schematics screen - Bio Organics. This is for all the Bio crafted items like food components. I also pushed the main food products (end item schematics) into Social Goods, as they made more sense in there. In the small patch, I pushed I also added a fix (hopefully) for the image glitch that seems to have snuck in on lover spec'd machines. I tried it forwards, backwards and inside and out and cannot now get it to glitch. New Orion ground floor of the complex had a small makeover and a change to the way that set of timed missions works. This makes it easier to complete and also means the AI does…
- Milestone - Release 1.48 - 6 September 2020
Game Reset This release (1.48) marks a milestone in the progress of Hannon. Sadly this also means a reset on you're part. We have made many significant background and storyline changes that requires us to ask you to restart your Hannon Early Access journey. During Early Access we hope to keep this to an absolute minimum and only expect another 'possible' reset when we move to 'Cooperative online play', but that's a way off and still only theoretical depending upon Early Access support over time. A lot has been added and changed since the initial release so it's probably as good a time as any to get you to do a restart and start afresh. Also, a lot of the Early combat and missions have been rebalanced to make it a 'better experience' - Feedback, as always is very much welcome. Come visit us in our Hannon Discord Server HTA Terminals I have spent the time now to completely revamp the Huma…
- Captain Hannon Release 1.47 - 24 August 2020
Release Notes 1.47 This release is packed with a lot of core changes and updates. I will list the more important ones here and leave you to find the extra bits yourself. After all, what's the fun If I tell you where everyone is :) Seriously though. This build allows me to plan for some major storyline changes come in the next release. At that time we will be asking players to do their first Early Access 'Restart'. It was inevitable that we would have to ask players top do this at some stage and I've don't my very best to not force this on you just yet. Please continue to play and test out Hannon until the next release. Your feedback and suggestions are more than gratefully received so keep them up. Changes to the Inventory I have added a 'Parts' tab to the inventory. Now modules that are crafted will go to this section. Also, the weapon parts will be stored here. I also took this opport…
- Mining, ORSA & Exploration - 29 July 2020
New Mining System We now have a new Mining system in Hannon. As each planet, biome is expanded and created it also gets new Mining Spawn locations. These can be utilised to Mine resources out of the ground using a real-time Mining Rig system. In game or out of game, once deployed a Mining Rig will keep mining till its hopper is full! ORSA License Each Planet will require you to locate and purchase an ORSA mining license. There are new NPC's that have been added to the game to sell these licenses. For the initial starting locations I'm going to list them and their locations, after that you will need to find the rest yourself as they are added. Jonas Hawk - ORSA Agent. Located on George Town Alby Patterson - ORSA Agent. Located on New Orion Nelis Strand - ORSA Agent. Located on Starbase-51 Harlen Potter - ORSA Agent. Located on Oesabi Landing You will generally find the ORSA Agents nearby…
- Release 1.45 - Crafting Arrives - 11 July 2020
Release 1.45 Been a few weeks since the last update but I've been busy working on many many aspects of Hannon. I have also been working with those reporting any issues they find, plus attempting to merge as many fixes and updates into this release as I could. Derelicts Let's start with these. I have added four more to the growing list of Derelicts you can have ZED locate for you. Derelicts are now based within certain Captain level boundaries. So as you progress deeper and deeper into the game so you will start to have the opportunity to explore new derelicts. I have also added in your old Bio Bug's to some of these derelicts. You'll hear them hatch, a distinctive sound. These will home in on your body heat, so deal with them quickly! More New Art Thanks to Igor's hard work we now have more new art coming in each week. (also due to your support). We have new artwork for some of the term…
- Release 1.44 - 21 June 2020
Time for another update fellow Captains... 1.44 brings the latest batch of new NPC's. These guys will help you complete your primary Five weapon slots. You have a Rail Gun, Phaser, Missile Launcher and Disruptor. These go alongside the Mining laser. These are the base weapons for the Shuttles combat element and form the first Five slots. As we progress these will upgradeable via crafting. mission rewards and then fitted via a specialised station. You can find these NPC's in the following Systems Rail Gun - Feris 2 Phaser Array - Kelsey Nano Missile Launcher - Danar Disruptor Cannon - Gronhiem Mining Laser - Feris 9 Make sure to read the NPC mission logs as I have tried to give clues and guides on where you might find the items they want. Note that these 'Offensive Weapons' all use energy to fire. This means you will need to start to manage your energy levels. (I'm working on tools to ai…
- Derelicts in Space & Lots More... - 12 June 2020
Derelicts This release adds the Full functions of Derelicts to the game. Derelicts can be thought of as abandoned mini stations, ships lost adrift in space. Pretty much anything that can be found in space that might prove interesting to explore. You already have a Space Suit which you will 'don' automatically when leaving the shuttle to begin exploring. Zed will check this for you and also warn you about the dangers and the use of Oxygen whilst wandering derelicts. There is a new bar that appears at the bottom of the screen that indicates your Oxygen level. You can top this up at any time using Oxygen Bottles. These can be found in varied locations or purchased from various NPC's. I would suggest topping up on these initially till you get a feel for the O2 drain. If you run out, all is not lost... but you will begin to feel the strain of hypoxia and eventually without a supply of O2 you…
- Patch Notes 1.42a - 5 June 2020
Patch Notes 1.42a Hi, there fellow Captains. A small update patch today. With a mix of changes updates and fixes. A quick shout out to those reporting bugs and issues, plus a special mention to Ram2000 for his help going over the recent changes. Speed / Performance Issue With each main update, we have been adding more and more content. More methods and systems under the hood. These are great for content and moving the game forward, but it seems I got a bit carried away at some stage recently :) I narrowed down the issue, and this patch will remove any slow down performance issues that have been introduced lately. Apologies if this caused you issues. Kurgan dock Seems there were some errant terminals on Kurgan Dock that refused to acknowledge your presence :) These have now been resolved. I have also fixed the terminals on the lower deck. These were not correctly auto-completing missions…
- Hanon Patch 1.42 - 27 May 2020
Patch Notes 1.42 The last few weeks have whirled past in a blur as I worked on many of the core elements of Hannon. I've been working primarily though on getting the Exploration side of the game up and working. This patch brings some core elements to the game and prepares it so I can release the actual derelicts in the next patch. Along with these additions I've also done a boat load of changes and fixes. I've listed all these below for review. Added additional dock ship image artwork for certain stations. Currently looking into making the stations more random with ships docking and undocking based on random events. More Enemy ships added to the database for deployment and use in-game. A few of these have been added to the roster for Pirate activity and also for attacking groups whilst mining. Pressing 'G-Key' whilst on land / docked will bring up the Galactic Database directly. The Gal…
- Exploration In Development - 16 May 2020
Hi there, I thought it was time for a post, to let you know what I'm up to and reassure you that I'm still on the task here at Dream Games Studio. A Big Thank You But first a quick thank you to those of you that have shown your support this month so far and purchased a copy of Hannon. Your support during this Early Access development stage means a lot so thank you! Exploration in the Works I had been mulling this one over for a while now and it seemed to be a logical addition to the game. As you flit around the Galaxy ZED is always keeping an eye out for things to bring to your attention. No, leaving Pizza in the microwave for too long not being one of them! He has now been given the ability to spot 'Derelicts' These can be pretty much anything from a small ship adrift in space to an abandoned space station. Now, of course, you are going to need to don your Spacesuit for these EVA activ…
- Patch Notes 1.41a + Dev Talk - 4 May 2020
Trying to keep to roughly a week to ten days between patches. This gives me enough time to work on feedback and fixes and add new functions and elements. The following are the patch notes for 1.41a ARK Terminals All systems now have an A.R.K refining access point. This means along with the spawn of Novastone that you should never be caught in a (current) active system with no Jump Fuel. Sure, you may need to go mine some Novastone and refine it in an ARK Terminal but you won't be stuck. NPC Sales Agents All the systems outside Feris now have at least one sales agent that sells various items along with Jump Fuel Cannisters. These are there so you can top up on essentials (at a premium price) and for those that simply don't want to mine and get the Fuel for free. Over time these NPC's will become dynamic. I've already instigated looking into this, but for now, they have prices set per loc…
- Small Patch - 1.40 - 24 April 2020
Patch Notes 1.40 This patch is a smaller patch and will become the norm for a while until I can collate more feedback. I have been cleaning up smaller sub systems and adding content here and there. Whilst tweaking other systems. Over the next month I will continue to do this in smaller patches like this one. Edited spawn rates in systems based on the Law Level, The spawns will still occur just not right as soon as you move :) Over time I will work this out to be smoother and work on making it flow more realistically. I've returned some of the ships view rates back to their lower setting, some strange behaviour was exhibited on longer ranges. Will investigate this. I have added three new star backdrops for the spaces for Arlington, Zeonis and Defiance. These add certain Nebula type affects and also give a variety of visual effects when travelling. Bounty Hunter Missions - Each system now…
- Update 1.38c - Development Build goes live - 21 April 2020
Bugs Squashing Much of the last few weeks has been divided between squashing bugs and fixing a few niggly issues that have been with us for a while and creating new systems, expanding the Galaxy and the game base. We have squashed the issue with Controllers and GamePads. These will still have varying control based on what you use, but they should not kill the game any longer. These were causing crashes when plugged in. Thanks to Kage this should now be resolved. We have tested on what we have in the way of controllers and flight sticks etc. New systems Arrive I have added Nine new systems to the Game. These are open for players to move through (Jump Fuel permitting). You will find some gates off these new systems won't open for you - this is to be expected as these are links to systems not yet active. As more systems come online these gates will open and the Patch notes updated. For now…
- Progress Update Week 2 - 8 April 2020
Progress Update Hi there, I wanted to bring you news of what we have been up to since the release just over a week ago. We worked long and hard to bolt in as many of the mechanics of the game before the release. Knowing we were going 'Early Access' gave us some leeway though on expanding the Galaxy and its content. Our early tester group seems to have nailed down all the 'major' bugs and issues that might otherwise have plagued an early access release, so thanks, guys! Much appreciated... So since release, we have been working on a number of main elements. The largest of these has been nailing down the 'Phoenix Galaxy'. It comprises some 60+ systems (on the office wall here) and we have been working on adding more of these to the development game as we can. I suspect come the weekend we will be in a position to push out this new build to the Live Early access for you to enjoy. Understan…
- Release Day - Early Access Open - 30 March 2020
Release Day So we finally reach 'Release Day' here on steams Early Access. Why early access? Well, you could read the Early Access Steam FAQ above on this page, but in a nutshell, the game is designed and created by 2 guys in the very definition of indie development. We need support to get the project to the next level and beyond. We have created a fully functioning and playable 'Classic ARPG', but want to make it so much more. So we are going down the Early Access path and allowing YOU the player to give feedback and help in making the game a hit. We fully intend to expand and create masses more content to the game, and with your support, we can do this faster and smarter. What to Expect Hannon is a classic style ARPG. It's not a AAA game, but it makes up for it in its envisioned futuristic scope. It has a central plot running through it with expanded sandbox potential bursting at the…
- More Art & Galactic Database is Live - 22 March 2020
New Icons, More Art As I spend my days now chiselling away at the ever-growing list of 'things to do' with the 'Captain Hannon' project, I was happy and smiling when I eventually got to the implementation of some new artwork this week. Nothing like replacing place holder art with the real thing :) I now have a library of over 140 new images to use for the toolbar images. These are great and add a really cool sci-fi flavour to the game. I will be adding these to the various attacks for the bad guys and also picking out the best for the Captain's ship toolbar. I also have one of our favourite artists work on more NPC characters. We currently have over 230 of the avatar images, but I was in need of more actual NPC's to place on the promenades and planets. These have been ordered and Kauten is hard at work on those for us. I suspect they will be completed and imported on the next internal b…
- Hannon Update for Internal Build 1.29 - 15 March 2020
It's been a busy few weeks. I've been ironing out lots of small 'kinks and quirks' our early Beta Testers have been locating (thanks guys). Mean while I've also been hammering away at some of the core sections of the game adding in more balance and ironing out things like NPC Mission Formats and how we are going to work with the 'dissemination' of information in Hannon. So Read on.... Penalty on Death Hannon doesn't have a 'Perma Death', no hard reset or start again. But we do have a Penalty on character or ship Incapacitation. At Zero HP your classified as incapacitated and emergency services are called. In the case of you 'personally' you're transferred back to the nearest medical bay (in that system). Insurance covers medical bills but you will likely incur a financial cost for the retrieval. The same goes for the Shuttle. Loosing a shuttle is an unhealthy endeavor and will again inc…
- More Changes & Updates - 27 February 2020
Commercial Storage Services Been a real busy week with many additions and changes to Hannon. But one that really will make Hannon work better over time is the addition of the Commercial Storage Services. It's taken me a few days to nail down how I wanted it to work and to ensure that we could make it accessible throughout sections of the Phoenix Galaxy, but its now in... The Commercial Store Services (C.S.S) allows for you to store items (up to 5,000) into the companies depot and access them at any other terminal any where in the Galaxy. This means no lugging around 100's of items you won't need for ages, plus means you won't LOSE them should you get injured on a planet, or get your Shuttle busted up and lost. (Yup that's coming to Hannon shortly Penalty on Death). The Terminals are dotted around the Galaxy and the service is FREE. Funded by those kind folks at the Galactic Federation (…
