  • Version 1.01 - 24 June 2021

Version 1.01 brings with it 2 new adventure levels in the final space pack. We have been pretty happy with the length of the adventure mode in 1.0 but we still wanted to spend a bit more time on the final levels to make them really special. And although they are the last levels in the lineup they still manage to explore entirely new mechanics and combinations. From googly eyed penguins, to bubble fields and gravity blocks, these levels have a lot to offer. Along with the new levels we also focused on fixing various things based on feedback from the community. We added a bunch of new features to the minimap to help with finding secrets and tracking down those last few diamonds. We fixed a bunch of things related to fast traveling and we even added sound effects to sheep! As always, there is a boat-load of other changes and I don't have the ability to list every one of them here. If you w…

  • Version 1.0 - 24 March 2021

It's finally here! Version 1.0 is finally finished and boy is it a whopper! We spent a lot of time over the last couple of months finishing testing, revising, and re-finishing all of the adventure levels for version 1.0 as well as working on a whole new soundtrack with 7 different themes for the 7 different packs. Of course it's not just new levels and music. We have changed, fixed, and added so many things in this version that I don't even know how to sum it all up. In a nutshell, the game is more complete than it was a month or two ago for sure. Version 1.0 marks the moment we are considering the game out of Early Access and properly "finished" for people to buy. We have a strong set of levels and puzzles (over 250 puzzles now) and the game does everything it needs to in order to provide an enjoyable experience that is worth the asking price. However, version 1.0 will not be the last…

  • Version 0.13 - 21 January 2021

Alright so it's been a bit of a longer stretch between versions again, though unlike last time it's because we've been trying to prepare for our release from Early Access into version 1.0 of the game. This is just the first of a few version coming out in the next few months that will change major content aspects of the game like the adventure levels, cutscenes, music, and sound effects. We are planning to try and hit an official release for the game in March of this year and we are super excited (and also very busy) because of that. We hope you've been enjoying the game over the last year. This february marks our 1 year anniversary of early access! Can you believe it? I know I can't. As always I recommend you checkout the full changelog for this version on our site if you want to see a list of all of the things that have been added or changed in this version of the game: https://www.pri…

  • Version 0.12 - 15 September 2020

This past weekend was quite a trip. If you didn't hear, we were selected to be one of the games at the Seattle Indies Expo which means we've been in a bit of a crunch trying to get everything ready for that. You can check out the broadcast that happened last Saturday on Twitch while the VOD still lasts at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/739120166. I believe there will be a youtube version uploaded sometime soon as well. So that was an awesome experience and we're very thankful for the opportunity to be in the lineup. The offshoot of this presentation is that we've gotten a ton of major stuff done in the game. A bunch of the adventure levels have been totally redone or replaced and many of the ones near the beginning have been redecorated and fixed in various ways. So make sure you check out the adventure levels even if you've already played them before. We also totally redid the adventure…

  • Version 0.11 - 26 July 2020

So last time we released 7 mini-updates, this time we made it to 8 before I got off my lazy butt and packaged a proper major version. Luckily this means that this version also has a LOT of stuff. As always make sure you check out the full changelog for a list of all of the things that have been added. You can find it on our website or select "Changelog" from the main menu in the game. There are so many things that have been added since version 0.10. The most recent additions coming in this version that weren't in the last mini-update are largely centered around the way diamonds look and the new menu that shows up when you complete a level. We also experimented with adding the snowball+snowman mechanics from A Good Snowman is Hard to Build as well as a bunch of new tree and mushroom decorations. We also made a bunch of smaller tweaks to mechanics though like spikes acting like carpet and…

  • Version 0.10 Released - 25 May 2020

Hey everyone, we are finally ready to release the next major version of the game. We've been working on mini-updates for version 0.09 over the last month and while each update is relatively small on their own they have combined to make version 0.10 have a massive list of changes. We've released 7 different mini-updates since version 0.09 so make sure you check out the full changelog to see what's been updated. Since the last mini-update we have been focusing on adding some music to the game and although the songs will still need some work, we think having proper music has made a huge difference to the feel of the game. You can also use these new music tracks in your own levels by using the Music Queue entity. We also just added 2 new meta entities called the Trigger Relay and Trigger Gate that allow you to perform more complicated trigger logic. These entities can help you delay a trigg…

  • Version 0.09 - 21 April 2020

We've finally got version 0.09 of the game ready to release! This version includes a completely new main menu system which also supports some new features like multiple save files and completion percentages. However, we also added a bunch of new entities and mechanics at the same time. We added ice blocks that can freeze monsters and turn them into pushable blocks, occlusions clouds which dissipate when walked over and block monsters from walking under them, ground cover which covers things below them and can be swept up with a broom, and much more. Check out the full changelog for more details here: https://www.princesscastlequest.com/changelog Also this week we are going to be starting our first attempt at running a non-formal level design contest. We are mostly interested in getting ourselves and others excited to work on levels and to give enough of a structure that it should be eas…

  • Version 0.08 is Here (Free Demo Now Available) - 26 March 2020

Hey everyone, we are back for another update to the game! For most of March we have been working towards making a free Demo version of the game but we have also added some new features and changes that you might find exciting. Also with the demo now available it's a great time to test it out if you haven't bought it already or tell your friends about the demo if you have. Due to the way Steam works we have to wait for the demo to be approved and then it takes 2 weeks before we can set it live. So the demo will be available on Steam, but not for another 2 weeks or so. However you can get the demo through our itch.io page right now! Just follow the link below and download the demo zip file: https://princesscastlequest.itch.io/demo https://i.imgur.com/3onml9O.png Here's a list of the major things that were added in version 0.08. You can check out the changelog link below to get a full list…

  • Version 0.07 is Released - 2 March 2020

Today is finally the day for our first major update to the game after Early Access Release. We have been working hard to fix and push forward on many different fronts. You can check out the full changelog for version 0.07 here: https://www.princesscastlequest.com/changelog/version-007-changelog Our main focus has been to redo the adventure levels with some new design goals in mind. We have been testing the game among various friends and family and found what we think to be the biggest problems with our original designs. Some of the puzzles in the original levels have been reused or adapted to the new format but we also have a bunch of new puzzles mixed in, as well as a whole new set of secrets and hidden puzzles. Alongside making new levels we have also been working on updating the options for all of the entities in the game. Adding options that need to be there, reorganizing and simpli…
