- Celebrating 5 Years of Humankind: Past, Present, and Future - 24 August 2026
It has been just over five years since the release of our first historical strategy game, HUMANKIND™, and just over 7 since we first revealed it. Thanks to all of you who have been supporting us over the past years! Some words from our Founder and CEO, Romain de Waubert de GenlisFive years on, HUMANKIND demonstrates the power of collaboration between developers and players. We've learned enormously from our community throughout this journey, and their feedback has helped shape the game into what it is today. What makes this milestone especially meaningful is that HUMANKIND started as a dream project for the team. Seeing it grow, evolve, and find its audience over the past five years has been an incredible journey. This anniversary is both a celebration of the past and a commitment to the future. As a studio, we've never been more excited about what's ahead, with new experiences and initi…

- War in the Pacific Scenario and AI Patch - 29 April 2026
Hey everyone,We are proud to release a new Scenario for Humankind: The War in the Pacific Scenario. - War in the Pacific Scenario Beta - 22 April 2026
Hey everyone, At Amplified a few weeks ago, we gave you a first glimpse of a new Humankind scenario our designer Noah has been working on: War in the Pacific. We chose this theme because the Community Vote had picked the Contemporary as their preferred era, and we could create a situation in which you’d get to use all three types of units together, land, naval, and air. This scenario pushes some aspects further than we did with previous scenarios, like custom personas, custom narrative events, and a unique end game condition.Additionally, in the course of working on this scenario we made several more general improvements to the game:AIBetter AI management of Embarked Units : they deploy in the rear, will avoid engaging naval forces, try to disembark on ground, and avoid seeking naval forces in a naval engagement.Better AI Air Strike management :AI will account better for anti-air before…
- Sneak Peek: War in the Pacific Scenario - 29 January 2026
Today we want to give you a little early look at the new Humankind scenario we are working on.Last summer, we asked you all to vote on which era you would like to see for the new scenario, and the overwhelming response was the Contemporary Era. And we get it: It’s rare to face an opponent on equal footing after going through five other ages before. After some brainstorming and consideration, we decided to focus on the pacific theatre of WW2 for this scenario, placing you in a conflict where land, naval, and air forces come to bear. The mockup below should give you an idea what kinds of battle to expect, but this is not a real screenshot as we are still working on the scenario. AMPLIFIERS 2026January is the month we celebrate the Studio anniversary. This year we reach the 15th year milestone!“Celebrating the studio’s 15th anniversary means celebrating fifteen years of imagination, persever…

- Freyja Update - Religion Rebalance - 8 October 2025
Hey everyone, If you’ve played Humankind since last Friday, you may have noticed a few things are different than they were just after the Dante update, particularly concerning the faith of your people, and many of you were wondering about these changes. Well, funny story: At the end of last week, we were made aware of a security vulnerability that had been found in the Unity engine. Obviously, we want our games to not pose a risk to our players, so we moved quickly to patch all our affected games. Humankind was one of them. The patch went out, and we were ready to breathe a sigh of relief when we realized that the unfinished update we had been testing with our VIPs was now publicly accessible! That wasn’t supposed to happen, because there’s still text missing. Well, the cat’s out of the bag now, so what exactly is it that found its way into your hands sooner than intended? As you might…

- Dante Update Beta Available Now - 16 May 2025
Hey everybody, You may remember that during our last Amplified, our whole community together unlocked several stretch goals, including a new Humankind persona of Dante, author of the Divine Comedy. After a long trip through no less than nine circles, he's ready to join your game! Now, adding a persona wouldn't usually be worth a beta test, but while we were at it, our designers made some other tweaks that we'd like your feedback on. You can find all the details and let us know what you think in the dedicated beta thread. If you want to see these changes in action, you can already try the beta for this patch through the update_preview branch on Steam. Just go to the properties of the game, open the betas tab, and select the right branch.

- 4X game Humankind just completely changed how war works, and it's for the better - 15 February 2025
Civilization 7 hasn't quite been the 4X game many of us hoped for so far. Huge changes to progression and issues with the user interface have marred the launch, but developer Firaxis is already hard at work bringing the historical strategy game back with plenty of patches. If you'd rather step away from Civ 7 while these changes come into effect, however, there's another, somewhat forgotten 4X experience getting some love. Humankind had a mixed launch, but the latest update offers up some big improvements. Read the rest of the story... - Achilles Update - 13 February 2025
Hey everyone! After a couple of weeks in the beta branch, we are ready to release Achilles Update 🎉 The goal of this update is to address some of the frustrations that players encountered and expressed regarding War Support, War Score, and Surrender. We want to avoid players feeling surprised by a warm ending with little warning and create a clearer connection between demands, occupied territory, and available surrender terms. Here are some comments from the devs regarding the update: Let's start with a bit of context on the War System in general before moving to the changes. When we first starting thinking about armed conflict during the initial development of Humankind, we mostly followed the Clausewitzian saying that held that "War is a continuation of Policy through other means". There were many interactions with what had happened before and during conflict, and a big resolution at…
- Underrated Civ style 4X game Humankind is free to keep for a limited time - 6 February 2025
By and large, mankind has had a troubled history. We tend to run headlong into catastrophe, occasionally only surviving by the skin of our teeth. Correcting such flaws is an inherent fantasy of Humankind , a 4X RTS all about guiding people through several eras of evolution. It's an underrated project that went a bit under the radar for many, but now it's free for a limited time if you'd like to try. Read the rest of the story... - Four years after launch, Amplitude strategy game Humankind deserves another shot - 24 January 2025
Too many worthy games get lost in the noise. It's understandable. We've all got big backlogs that we're trying to work through, and new releases arrive practically every hour. But it means a lot of solid or experimental titles fall by the wayside. Humankind is a good example. Originally released back in 2021, some less-than-fanatical early user reviews meant it was quickly overshadowed by strategy genre giants like the immovable Civilization 6 and Paradox's Stellaris. But as Amplitude confirms Endless Legend 2 is on the way, Humankind is well worth another look, especially right now. After a transformative update, it's now temporarily completely free to play, and then available at a huge discount. Read the rest of the story... - Beta - Achilles Update - 23 January 2025
Hey everyone, We’ve got a nice surprise for you today: A playable beta for the upcoming Humankind update, Achilles. Since the release of the game, we’ve received a lot of feedback about War Support, War Score, and surrender, and with this update we want to address some of the big frustrations. We want to avoid players feeling surprised by a warm ending with little warning, and create a clearer connection between demands, occupied territory, and available surrender terms. To achieve this, we made the following changes: All surrender proposals can be refused now, even if you are at 0 war support Both parties reaching 0 War Support no longer forces White Peace While at 0 War Support, empires take a Stability penalty scaling with era and number of turns spent without War Support While their enemy is ready to surrender (at 0 War Support), empires will take a penalty to their own War Support…
