It's summer time! While we are quietly melting in our offices / microwave, we’re still working on Fireflies (follow us!). And we took advantage of the arrival of sunny days to gift you an update of Spirit Arena! So just to stick to the festive mood, we thought it was time to make some improvements. General gameplay: Did you plan to surf this summer? That's good, because we have worked a lot on our waves. Prepare to deal with hordes of enemies in shorter, more nervous games! A progressive difficulty for less frustrating parties. The HP of all characters has been lowered (except the poor Croo) in order to make the games much more intense. Watch your health bar! It is with great pleasure that we release this new update for Spirit Arena. On the menu : Some players met an issue with some bosses, that would simply not appear at all. This bug is now history! Hit and death animations would not play after the first game: the matter is now fixed. Players could be the same colour if one tried to swap when the other was frozen. This bug in the matrix won’t happen again. The end of each wave is now smoother. No more picking the wrong item because you were moving at the end of the wave! The disable time happening when a player take a hit is now shorter. The apple only lengthen the invincibility time following a hit, making it a worthy item eventually! For this weekly update, we wanted to focus on a very important point : the game design! Many of you asked for it, and we listened! The game is now a bit more coherent and stable. The Easy mode is now really easy, and the hard mode… well, it’s really hard. And I think you can understand how difficult is the Nightmare mode. These changes can be summed up in this quick changelog: We improved the global game feeling of the game by changing quite a bit some waves The Bosses and some monsters now have different behaviours depending of the current difficulty Boss waves includes more enemies! Some foes are now more more powerful, in order to create a real challenge … But the characters are more powerful too! The early game will now be less random. First major update, only two weeks after the official release of the game! And it adds something that many of you asked for : the Survival game mode! In this new game mode, the monsters will not let you any rest! You’ll have to fight, wave after wave, choosing the right items in order to survive… But this time, there will be no other end than death itself! And because we know that a new game mode isn’t enough, we also created a new arena only for this mode : The Hell! For now, this game mode can still be considered in open beta. Like every Friday, it's time for the weekly update ! This week, we tried to make the game a bit more intuitive, and we corrected a lot of bugs too ! Bugfixes : World 2 and world 3 bosses don’t “shake” when the player is close to them. In the Level Selection menu, the levels are now in correct order. The camera should not shake anymore. The “Akhenatons” of the 3rd world got a new AI. The 3rd world is now working normally (no more skipping waves, item spawn loops or easy victories against the boss). Changes : The Grimoire and Game Over screens got new cleaner UI elements. The Pause menu now show the numbers behind the stats. After four months of rough development, we are proud to announce that the little game-jam game made in 48 hours is now better than ever ! Spirit Arena is now out on Steam & Itch.io ! Beat waves of enemies alone or with a friend in this colorful twin-stick shooter ! Beat all the achievements, unlock new arenas, new unique characters and new items that can help you in your quest ! Can you defeat all the foes that cross your road ? (Of course you can ! We believe in you !) If you participate in our open beta, you’re going to see that there is a lot of improvements, such as : new menus, a better game-design, but also more content !
