- Autumn sale and new bundles! - 2 October 2026
🍃 It's raining here in Vancouver Canada. Is it a little dreary where you are too? Fall is a nice time to stay in, dig out a cozy sweater, and get into some wordy, thinky narrative games.🍂 Steam's annual Autumn Sale starts today and we're celebrating with our usual 50% discount, free trial, and as a bonus the entire Exocolonist soundtrack is up on loop here on Steam to listen to.🕹️+🕹️ We also just added a new bundle with 1000xRESIST to our growing list! It's one of those games that draws you into the shallows with its charming weirdness, then grips and sweeps you along through a wildly deep and emotional story beneath. Here's the full list of our bundles, with bonus discounts during Steam's Autumn sale:

I've been playing it this week and it's what it says on the box - silly, fun, and wonderfully gay. Make sure you chat up the toilet. The effort they put into his dialog is just excessive. And don't forget we'll be celebrating our Exoversary this week with a developer AMA on Thursday, August 13th at 2PM PT / 5PM EDT, and plushie giveaways all week, all on the…
- Steam Workshop Update! - 10 August 2026
Happy fourth Exoversary everyone! We're celebrating 🍄🚀 I Was a Teenage Exocolonist 🍄🚀 a bit early this year to coincide with the Choices Matter Festival and our first game update in, well, a while!🛠️ Steam Workshop Modding Support!I'm stoked to announce we've added Steam Workshop support to I Was a Teenage Exocolonist. This should make it a little easier for modders to share simple text-based mods which change story files or data files. These sorts of mods can translate Exo into other languages, or add new events to the game. Changing gameplay or adding new images is still a little more complicated, and for the meantime easier done via fan-maintained tools like ExoLoader. In addition to supporting Steam Workshop, you can now install text mods directly via the filesystem. Here's a guide on how to make, upload, and install story and data file mods:Exocolonist Workshop GuideAnd here's…

- In Stars and Time Bundle - 16 April 2026
It's a time loop team up!Let me tell you about In Stars and Time, our \ (that's an Exoscript joke) in a new Steam bundle. In In Stars and Time, a party of heroes stands on the brink of saving the world, when everything suddenly resets. Trapped in a time loop, one character remembers every failure, every conversation, every crack in the story, and must slowly piece together a better path forward. Like I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, it's a game about choices, relationships, and the often painful weight of memory. If you're here for emotional storytelling, found-family dynamics, and the quiet dread (or hope) of trying again, this bundle pairs two games that hit in very different ways, and linger for the same reasons.- Sarah ːnyaaː

- Choose Wisely Festival - 8 December 2025

- Games from Vancouver - 21 November 2025
We love Vancouver BC! Who doesn't - we've got the sea, the mountains, and more game studios per capita than should reasonably be expected. I grew up here and after 15 years away I was pulled back by the intense gravity of our indie game scene. Our local community is so creative and so diverse and welcoming, and we definitely aren't a big cult, just ignore what they post on bluesky. Half the Exocolonist team hails from here and we are all so proud of our fellow Vancouverites and their games. This week we're celebrating with a festival of Games from Vancouver. Check them all out here: 🏙️🏔️🎮🐋☕ Games From Vancouver fest Nov 21 - 30 2025 🌲🌸🌧️🚴♀️🍁I Was a Teenage Exocolonist will have a free demo available for the week. - Fan Merch and Mods - 14 March 2025
Not only has the I Was a Teenage Exocolonist fandom kept the story going with fic (336 works and counting on AO3), they’ve been busy modding the game and making rad fan merch. Northway Games has always granted permission for anyone to sell fan merch of our games using their own original art. It feels so amazing to have a piece of Exocolonist fandom hanging from my bag or dangling from my ears, out here in the real world. So here’s a showcase! (this is a repost from the Northway Games blog which is so popular it got 4500 spam comments last month when I accidentally broke the recaptcha) Official-ish Merch from Mei Mei’s wooden charms Exocolonist artist Mei (@bkomei) just announced preorders for the cuuuuuuuutest wooden character charms, with unique shapes and different pictures on the two sides. They’re so slick! I love that they’re in a different chibi style than Mei used in the game, bu…
- Visual Novel Fest - 3 March 2025
Do you need a break? To lose yourself in a fantasy sci-fi world? One that, while perhaps reflecting our own in some ways, does so in warm layers of distance and abstraction and comforting nonconformity? Then come with us, and forget about our shared real life problems for a minute. Let's hang out with some fictional teenagers out in space somewhere instead. I'm sure everything will work out just fine for them. I Was a Teenage Exocolonist will be 50% off during the Visual Novel Fest from March 3 - 10, then again for the Steam Spring Sale on March 13-20. - SimFest 2024 - 22 July 2024
Simulation games are my favorite genre. Debatably, the way I play some RPGs and strategy games by ignoring main quests or playing in sandbox mode probably makes them sim games too. Hold on, could EVERYTHING be a sim game? I mean they're all simulating something, right? Let's back it up. I just reinstalled the Sims 4, arguably King of Sims, which is ten years old and still in the top 30 most played games on Steam. I never played with dolls as a kid but hoo boy watching these poor creatures slapfighting and peeing themselves in public never gets old. Despite I Was a Teenage Exocolonist not simulating bladder-fullness, I still hope people get a similar joy from guiding Sol/Solane/Solanaceae through all the many possibilities of adolescence on Vertumna. Oh, right, and the game is on sale, with a limited time demo, for SimFest 2024 from July 22-29! - Sarah ːnyaaː

- Deckbuilders Fest and Physical Cards - 25 March 2024
For one week only, the demo is live and game is on sale as we celebrate the best of deckbuilders on Steam! I LOVE deck building games. Some of my recent favorites (all roguelikes): 🛸Cobalt Core 🗡️Inscryption 🚂Monster Train 🐉Dream Quest (obscure but essential) 🃏Balatro (current obsession) But there will always be a special place in my heart (and a not insignificant part of my brain) for Magic the Gathering. It's been years since I've played online, but I have an unopened box of Lord of the Rings in my closet just waiting to be drafted. Something about the feel - and that smell - of glue and cardboard. So naturally when I was designing the deckbuilding component for I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, I was already thinking about how to make a physical game out of it. Behold: you can buy it from TheGameCrafter.com for $14.99 USD! These are made to order (so it might take a while to ship) an…
