- Update 1.0.21 - Controller Support - 8 July 2020
Controller support is now in-game! There were also some bug fixes and tweaks which are listed further down. Right now the game supports two controller layouts, Xbox and Playstation. You can use other controllers, although they may not work 100% as expected. The game will detect some of your controller input right away, but you’ll still want to select your preferred layout under the controls menu to get all the buttons working correctly. Also, you can use the mouse sensitivity slider in the options menu to adjust the sensitivity of the right joystick. There is also an invert option available as well, and you can even invert the mouse if you like. Limitations Skin Witch wasn’t designed with controller support in mind, so there are some limitations with the controller input system worth noting: As noted above, you'll probably need to use your mouse to select your controller preference in t…
- Update 1.0.19 - 19 June 2020
Here's what's been fixed in the past week: Keys now show a trash icon in the bottom right corner if they've unlocked all their respective doors, letting you know you can safely discard them Fixed some missing translations for a couple menu options Fixed the save menu showing duplicates of your save files when you first created the save Fixed a missing translation for the save files menu Polished the save/load menu, it now highlights which save you selected and responds more clearly Tweaked the storage interface slightly Fixed missing music in a couple of the save rooms Fixed the Witch-Spear item sometimes not triggering on use Improved memory usage New Feature: Map System I also added a new map system, which can be brought up by pressing 'M'. The map will keep track of locked doors you've encountered, and will change the door's icon on the map if you've unlocked it. Naturally the map wi…
- Performance Improvements - Update 1.0.16 - 9 June 2020
The work I've done over the past couple days has primarily been on improving performance and reducing lag, with a couple other fixes as well. Here's what's changed: Improved graphics performance, the load on the graphics card should be greatly reduced RAM usage should be lower, although there's still more improvements coming for this Fixed a bug that stopped the health/heart icon from beating Fixed a bug that wouldn't allow you to change the music volume from the start menu If you're having issues with lag, relaunch the game and change your graphics settings to a lower setting and see if that fixes it. If you just barely meet the system requirements, you'll probably need to set it to 'Very Low'. That should solve most issues, however some more optimizations are coming which should improve performance more as well. The rest of the week I'll be working more on performance, AI pathfinding,…
- Patch Notes - 1.0.14 - 5 June 2020
Fixed a bug that made your melee attacks frequently miss despite hitting an enemy. Melee attacks now register hits against enemies accurately. Melee is weaker than using your guns however, so be careful. You can now combine two healing herbs together to save inventory space. You can also combine that mixture together with Ash to make Sacred Herbs, just like when using 1 herb. Fixed a bug where dead enemies sometimes came back after loading a save. Fixed a bug that prevented not-quite-so-dead enemies from coming after you. The next tasks on the list will be optimization and performance, and any other bug fixes that are needed. Sometime next week I'll start working on Mac/Linux ports of the game. Have a great weekend! Corey
- Patch Notes - 1.0.13 - 4 June 2020
I just uploaded the latest build, 1.0.13. Here's what's been fixed: Fixed a bug where some enemy projectiles would go through walls Fixed a bug where enemies would behave strangely when losing the player Fixed a bug where enemies would behave strangely when set on fire Overhauled the skull-fire puzzle, it was very finicky before but now behaves correctly Fixed a UI bug with the blood symbols puzzle Added a prompt for the save objects, now shows that you have to press 'E' to open the menu Fixed a bug with a couple item pickups that didn't disappear correctly when picked up I'll be putting out at least 1 new build tomorrow as well, with more fixes and updates. Thanks, Corey
- Update 1.0.10 - 2 June 2020
I'm very excited to say that I just pushed a new update for the game, version 1.0.10, that fixes a lot of things. I had previously run into a problem shortly after release that delayed me in getting out new updates, but that problem was solved yesterday and I'm now pumping out updates pretty regularly. Patch Notes Fixed a bug when storing weapons, it now works correctly The first 5-10min of gameplay are now more direct as to where you should go Improved enemy AI behaviors Fixed a bug that could let you pick up infinite ammo Ammo in general was too scarce, ammo is now slightly more plentiful Inventory now shows a prompt to close it: Tab or RMB Fixed a bug that sometimes caused dead enemies to block your path Fixed a bug that caused the ore crusher to stop working when removing ore from it Fixed a bug that sometimes caused enemy corpses to react when being shot Fixed a bug that caused the…
- Info on Updates - 30 May 2020
Hey guys, an issue has popped up with Unity and it's causing me some big delays on creating new game builds. That said, I'm working constantly to get it straightened out, and I hope to have a new update out very soon. Thanks, enjoy the rest of your weekend! Corey
- Release Pushed to May 29th - 20 May 2020
Skin Witch needs more time for bug-fixing. I was optimistic it could release on the 22nd, but it's just not in the cards. I'd rather release the game a week later with more polish then release it Friday with a ton of bugs, it's a hard decision but it'll be a better game in the end. https://i.imgur.com/SCy1a1y.jpg The game's content is finished, but there are a few systems that need some refinement and polish. This will also provide time for more testing which is always a good thing. https://i.imgur.com/Ib9tDeY.jpg Thanks, Corey

- New Trailer! - 3 March 2020
I'm excited to release a new trailer for Skin Witch, officially showing new weapons like the flamethrower, and new music as well. Guild of Lore is creating the soundtrack for the game, you can hear more of their music here. I'm very proud of how the game is coming along, though there's still plenty of work to be done. Skin Witch will be releasing this Spring. The new trailer can be viewed either on Skin Witch's Steam page or on Youtube:
