  • v1.5.1.2 - Input Binding Fix - 27 January 2026

Changes Fixed Shoot and Boost actions not working for some players even after rebinding Details Some users who had customized their input bindings in previous versions were experiencing issues where the fire and boost buttons wouldn't respond, even after rebinding them in the settings menu. This was caused by saved binding data referencing internal IDs that had changed between game versions. The Input System would fail to properly apply the user's bindings, leaving the controls in a broken state. The game now automatically detects and cleans up these outdated binding references on startup. No action required - just update and play. Your controls should work correctly, and any new rebindings you make will be saved properly. If you were affected by this issue, please let me know in the comments if it's now working! If you're still having problems, please follow the instructions here to se…

  • v1.5.1.1 - YouTube Integration Fix - 12 January 2026

Quick patch to address YouTube integration issues reported by some Windows users. ChangesFixed YouTube/CEF browser engine failing to start on some Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems DetailsSome Windows configurations were missing a graphics API (DirectComposition) that the browser engine was trying to use, causing it to crash on startup. The game now uses an alternative rendering path that should work on all systems. If you were affected by this issue, please let me know in the comments if it's now working! If you're still having problems, please follow the instructions here to send me your logs: Thanks to everyone who reported this issue and provided logs!

  • Vecter 1.5.1 - The "I Told You I'd Try" Update - 1 January 2026

Remember when I said I'd try to get YouTube working on macOS? Well... I did it. I also hate myself... thanks for that Apple... but it does work now! Also playlists work now. And livestreams. And I fixed a crash that was nuking save files from 2022. You know, the usual.Let's get into it.macOS YouTube Support (Yes, Really)The thing I said might never happen? It happened a lot sooner than I thought. YouTube now works on macOS. Both Intel and Apple Silicon. I had to compile custom versions of the Chromium Embedded Framework for both architectures, figure out Apple's whole "notarization" song and dance, wrestle with Sequoia's new security requirements, and probably lose a few years off my life expectancy. But it works. Copy a YouTube URL, paste it in the game, watch videos while you dodge things at unreasonable speeds. Just like Windows and Linux users have been doing this whole time.Apple use…

  • Vecter 1.5 - The Revival Update - 18 December 2025

OKAY OKAY I GET IT I GET IT! You hate the menu system, got it, here's a new one jeez... I kid, you guys are right, the old one was dumb. I was hoping to make a menu with no words to try and remove language barriers, but ended up adding more language barriers in... Buuuut since I was there fooling around with buttons, one thing led to another, hours turned into days turned into weeks, turned into... 1.5 is the biggest update Vecter has ever received. New features, major fixes, and a frankly embarrassing amount of under-the-hood work that I probably should have done years ago. But hey, better late than never. Let's get into it. YouTube Integration (The Big One) You can now play YouTube videos directly in the game. Use them as background music or just have something playing while you dodge windmills at ridiculous speeds. The controls work the same as the music player - volume, skip, all th…

  • Test 1.5.0.0a17... yes a17 - 5 December 2025

Attempt 17 proved fruitful and appears to be fairly stable. YouTube didn't seem to notice a thing. Or didn't care? This implementation doesn't break ToS so they should be happy. And it works under Linux! Which is more than I can say for the last one... MacOS still not cooperating, hopefully I'll be able to persuade them down the line.Overall very happy with result. Good viewing / listening experience.Additional note: FLAC, AAC, OGG and WAV all seem to be cooperating now as well. AAC only seems to want to behave in M4A format or something like that... Damn it how in the world do I see my commits in github? Oh wait I can see them in VSCode... Yes in M4A format. Hopefully that's a widely-used one? IDK... Anyway... nearly there... just a week or two... Hopefully the new menu will be less controversial than the old one. I HATE making menus. Such tedious work... They're like pulling teeth. "O…

  • 1.4 - I was on a plane update - 27 April 2025

Dude I thought you were dead! I thought the game was dead! Where did you come from? - I'm not dead, I'm just old and grumpy and burnt out by capitalism. Same as you, same as everybody else - Vecter is not dead, it just needed some bug fixes and some cleaning. I went in and sorted some stuff out and it should work better. If it doesn't leave a comment or a review or something and I'll look at it if I have time. But to be honest a big motivator was seeing this: Which felt good. Followed by this: Which felt bad. And I don't like feeling bad, which is probably what these people felt when they tried to play the game, and that sucked. So I did a: And now hopefully things are better. At least they seem to be better from my testing. I also made a Mac version of it. These days I own a Mac as my main computer so since I was doing that might as well make it for Mac OS too. I have to say it's becom…

  • 1.3.0.10 - 12 February 2023

    - Fixed the resolution selector in the options menu not going all the way to max resolution - Fixed the issue where if you opened the guid in the main menu using the keyboard (and not the mouse or controller) it wouldn’t let you close it. Unfortunately this has created a new problem where you have to press enter twice on the next action you want to do but it’s a less annoying problem.

  • 1.3.0.9 - Minor Fixes - 9 February 2023

    - There was a small stutter in-game every 10 seconds on lower-end machines. It has been rectified. - The profile picture on track death markers was always on top of everything, this has been fixed - The profile picture on track death markers would appear even when the UI was turned off. This is no longer the case - The names on the track death markers would sometimes be bigger than the marker itself. The names have been restricted to 16 charecters.

  • Vecter 1.3 - The Forever Update - 7 February 2023

My commitment with Vecter always has been to create a small game, that would be capable of running on pretty much any PC, and offer it for FREE to anyone regardless of their gender, race, location, or wealth. Over time however, various features within it have broken down due to, in no small part, my poor planning. So I've gone ahead and given Vecter a bit of an overhaull. Some features have been removed, some new features have been added, but overall it's a more stable and smooth experience. For full details on what's happened I recommend watching this YouTube video I've so kindly put together for you all. Hope you like it! And here's a full Log Change for the game: Vecter 1.3.0.8 - Removed Multiplayer - Removed Custom Backend - Removed Shadows and Shadow Playback - Removed Custom Names - Removed Rebindable Controls - Removed Achievements that no longer apply - Removed YouTube videos -…

  • Pst! Hey! - 2 February 2023

I have completed the coding for the upcoming 1.3 update, which I have tested and believe to be fully stable. However, I still need to create all the new Steam page assets, descriptions, etc. before I can launch it, which will take another week or two. As a reward for your support, you get the chance to play the new version early before everyone else. And if you post a score during the time when I'm creating the new Steam video, you might even get your name featured in the video! Here's how you can play the new version: Go to your Steam Library and find Vecter in the list on the left. It should be in the "FAVOURITES" wink wink Right-click on Vecter and select "Properties." In the window that appears, click "BETAS" in the left-hand list, and then select "thesupersecretclub - Thanks for reading my ramblings on Steam ;)" from the dropdown on the left. Close the window. Steam will then perfo…

  • Yes I'm working on an update - 30 January 2023

This is a small announcement for an upcoming update for Vecter. In recent times, the game has been neglected and some of its features have fallen by the way side. However, there are many exciting changes in store for the players. The good news is that there will be some cool improvements like multi-language support, steam leaderboards, in-game profile pictures, better offline support, and improved controller support. These new features will enhance the overall gaming experience for players. Unfortunately, some features like Multiplayer, Rebindable controls, Shadow Playback, and YouTube have had to be removed. Some of these features may make a comeback in the future, such as Rebindable controls and Shadow Playback which have a high chance of being re-added. However, others such as YouTube, will not be returning due to compatibility issues. When the update is released, a full update of th…

  • Vecter going forward - Big announcement - 18 June 2022

Vecter is my second game ever and my first truly succesful title. I love it deeply and I tried to keep it going as much as I could, but enough is enough... Every single thing I tray to do to / in it is a pain, every change seems to break something else, it's time to let go, draw a line under it and start over. Fact of the matter is I'm starting a new game, a sequel to Vecter, hopefully better in every way. I put a lot of effort into explaining myself, what happened to Vecter and what the next game is in the following video, so if you want to know the story, have a look: Also, I would massively appreciate it if you go and subscribe. I'm trying to raise money for development and one of the ways to do so is to turn on monetization on the YouTube channel, but to do that I need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours, So PLEASE HALP! Ideally I would like to quit my job and work on this full ti…

  • Vecter - Steam Deck Verified! - 17 May 2022

Have a Steam Deck? Nothing to play? Nonsense... if you have a Steam Deck your steam library probably looks like a graveyard of untouched games. DON'T LIE I KNOW IT DOES! However, should you want to scratch an itch so fast-paced it's quickly spreading through your body like that rash you keep putting off going to the doctor's for (Seriously, go get that checked!) whyyyy not give Vecter a try? It's full of F's, it has the best F's, you've never seen F's this good: - Fast - Fun! - FREE - Foreveeeeeer - Focaccia? Everything's going up these days: cost of living, inflation, gas, power, heartrate whenever you see the news, corruption. But no matter how much these things go up by, 43132423% of 0 is still 0 so you too can race to your heart's content. Common, you know you want to ;) Download a Vecter, disconnect and have a fun little race. Promise I'll join you on the Steam Deck as soon as mine…

  • Taranasus's Vecter Alpha 1.3 + Unbound: Worlds Apart - 28 July 2021

It's been a while. I've been hard at work at upgrading Vecter to URP like I said. It's not by any means finished but I think it's in a good enough state to release an Alpha for it. Details on how to get the Alpha in this post bellow. However, I'm also making this post because a game I've been really hype for the last few years is releasing NOW: Unbound: Worlds Apart (I do mean right now! It should be released at the time this article is live) https://store.steampowered.com/app/814680/Unbound_Worlds_Apart/ DISCLAIMER: Alien Pixel Studios (APS) (the developers of Unbound: Worlds Apart) have not sponsored this post in any way, shape or form. APS and I are friends so my views may be a bit biased, but I genuinely believe Unbound is an excellent title that you should check out Unbound's release is very important, and you may be wondering why: It's because of my friend Serj, one of the creator…

  • I'm back...ish - 16 July 2021

I want to get back in the gamedev game, but right now I don't feel like talking much, so in very short here's what's happening: Retirement's over, I'm working on Vecter I'm not as chatty anymore, I'll be focusing more on coding and less on discord / social media I'm no longer taking input Retirement's over, I'm working on Vecter I actually missed coding on Vecter, so I'm getting back to that, hopefully to help me disconnect from the world that's crumbling around me. Okay so what am I actually doing: Technical explanation: Vecter is running on the Legacy Rendering Pipeline in Unity which, is old and has become very restrictive when I want to do anything. It's one of the main reason I threw my toys out of the pram. So I'm basically deleting the whole graphics side of Vecter, every custom trick I did to make it work on PC and will be rebuilding the whole thing in Unity's Universal Render P…

  • v 1.2.0.13 - Bug fixes - 4 May 2021

    - The credits screen is now accessible again from the main menu. I forgot to add it in after remaking the menu system - The "Who made dis?" achievement has been hooked up to the credits button so you get the achievement when looking at "ze credits" - Fixed the "Keep Vecter Free" achievement

  • Small performance patch - 18 April 2021

v 1.2.0.11 As I'm no longer actively working on the game, I thought it would be nice to do some cleanup and address a few things to just overall make it a nicer experience. So towards that end I have: - Made the city generation a little faster to lessen the performance impact - Removed some online multiplayer code that never came to fruition but was slowing everyone down by just existing - Updated to Unity 2021.1.3f And, to make it fair, here are the patch notes for some previous versions that I may have forgotten to add on here before dramatically exiting: v1.2.0.10 Fixed issue with score not uploading correctly for seed 5555555555 v1.2.0.9 Fixed a bug where it would cause the game to spam an error regarding Unity Event System

  • Thank you for playing Vecter - I'm retiring from gamedev - 4 April 2021

Hi Everyone, Well, I knew this day would come eventually. Deep down I wish it never did, but reallity seldomly goes according to plan. It is a bit hard to write this, I find it a little bit sad to admit it to myself, but here it goes: I'm retiring from game-dev. I don't know if it's temporary or permanent, but right now the drive I used to feel that pushed me to work on Vecter every free moment of my time is no longer there. I didn't expect it to last this long, to be honest... It's been 2 years almost to the day since I've started on this journey, and it all started with this Reddit post , and this gif: It's been an amazing journey where I've made a lot of amazing friends, had a metric fucktone of fun and learned more about the gaming industry than I really ever wanted or intended to know... As someone that made a free game just for the giggles, I never thought I'd get this far. Vecter…

  • Bug fixes, lots of them, release frequently - 8 March 2021

Yes I'm at it again. Hopefully I'm almost done but I like my games stable :D Most of the things I've been fixing are just overall stability and performance improvements that you won't necessarily see or be affected by on a day to day use, but they were clogging up my crash reports and I hate it when that happens. Like seriously, when you se an error like "Cannot read file details of some_ripped_song.mp3.repack"... That ain't an MP3 now is it? So yeah just fixed various issues like that. But since I don't update steam as often as I update discord with release notes (Please join my discord below - FIXED: "link music to speed" doesn't seem to work with standard music" - The feature itself is not broken, the description in the menu was wrong. The volume + pitch of the song is linked to the bonus modifier in the game. The bigger your bonus modifier, the higher the volume and pitch. This is t…

  • 1.2.0.0 - NEW MENUS PEOPLE! - 19 February 2021

It's been almost a month since the last meme, and 55 days since the last game update. Time to change that! I made new menus for the game! Okay but why tho? Well you see, impatient one, I still want to release Vecter on other platforms, including Phones, Including VR, and the old menu was only keyboard and controller compatible. It would have been impossible to use on touch / point -based devices like phones and such. So, while it was a bit of a pain, now at least I have a highly functional menu that works on everything! And that's great! Allowing me now to actually think about moving the game onto other platforms. There are also some QOL changes in these menus. Besides mouse support which makes it a lot easier to navigate, the Colour picker menu is a bit more powerful and should let you customise your colours a lot faster. Have an explore, there are a lot of changes. There shouldn't be…
