The Sorrowvirus is getting a limited physical release on the Playstation 4 and 5! While The Sorrowvirus is already out on consoles digitally, Limited Run Games are bringing The Sorrowvirus: A Faceless Short Story to PS4/5 physically! For our first game, this is a hugely exciting achievement. It's been nearly 4 years since we first released The Sorrowvirus as an early access free-demo, before its final Steam release in 2020, and while it's on the smaller side, it was a game made by 3-4 people for quite a few years, and we're super proud to have overcome all the hurdles we faced to make something real, even though it may not be 100% how we envisioned it to be. The Sorrowvirus: A Faceless Short Story was a game that we never planned to make, now it's coming to consoles. Before we get into the exciting news about our impending console release, I hoped to delve into a summarised history of how The Sorrowvirus came to be. Originally, we were working on a Source modification called Slender: Source. Sadly, for multiple reasons, the project was cancelled. There were a few reasons for this, including Sony trademarking the Slender-Man while we were in development in order to make a movie, 3.2/10 on IMDB! Abridged Branch: We released our 1.1.3 Hotfix earlier today, however, this is a dedicated news post to our Abridged Branch! In 1.1.2, we released the optional Abridged Branch, which players can opt-in and out of at any time through the game's beta tab! (Here is a handy guide if you're not sure how to do this.) Changes in the Abridged Branch: Removal of most readable in-game notes. Dialogue does not change per instance, with the exception of intros. Dialogue has been hand-picked to best serve the game's mystery. Cassandra Noble's padlock combination clues have been changed from clues within notes to visual clues within the environment. One of my major concerns when writing for The Sorrowvirus was whether or not I would ever get another opportunity to make further games within the Faceless universe. Final Update: We started The Sorrowvirus quite a few years ago now as a means to learn more about the Unreal Engine 4 so that we could return to developing Faceless, our multiplayer title. Originally intended as our first game, Faceless was postponed for a number of reasons. With The Sorrowvirus out and the final patch completed, we will be returning to developing our multiplayer title! Why is this the last patch for The Sorrowvirus? I always strive to aim for "perfect", something that is unobtainable, and eventually, it's best to say "enough is enough" and move on. Often when dying in a certain area, players would respawn inside of a tunnel in which they could not escape from, soft-locking the game. Collisions have also been improved.

Sometimes when approaching Wyatt's Ritual Zone, the area would not load, causing players to fall into the void. While not game-breaking, it certainly is a nuisance and can prevent players from unlocking certain achievements. We hope this fix does the trick!

OUT NOW Originally intended to release on the 19th May, we were delayed due to a multitude of reasons on both our end and on Steam's end.
