Hey guys! Thanks for using Desktop Portal, if you have been! What happened? I wanted to apologize for the lack of development and bugfixing on it in the past months. After releasing Desktop Portal I ended up getting a full-time VR development job, which has been eating away the majority of my time. To any new potential users reading this, I might recommend using another overlay software till I've had more time to develop (see below). I've been wanting to fix a lot of the things in Desktop Portal, but it's often just really hard to find time to context switch and develop on it. My passion for overlay software is still itching at me, but SteamVR's overlay system is difficult to work with, and Desktop Portal itself didn't use the best coding practices when I first made it since I was still learning about development quite a bit myself. What's going on? Hey guys! Sorry I've been absent from updates for so long, I've been hard at work on the future of Desktop Portal. Window cropping, anchoring windows to the bar, distance hiding, customizable look hiding, and so much more. The fabled "Keyboard 2.0" has been implemented partially, with new UI and shift support! Just fixing a few tiny things from yesterday's update! Fixes: The bar would open if it was closed when you took off your headset. The settings app didn't have the right icon on the preview for it.

New Features: The gray box that showed when you launched apps is now black, and shows an icon of what's launching. The dimming of the active game when the bar is open is now configurable in the settings. The X button has a fancy hover animation. Adjusted keyboard spawn height to not be in the bar. Decreased watch look-showing sensitivity. Fixes: Seated area games, such as VTOL, are now sort of fixed. The cursor doesn't show up, but it's still usable sorta. Fixed some issues related to capturing windows and which window was in the foreground. Fixed the keyboard not working when you had the focus active game option on. Fixed the blackout sometimes lagging behind your head.

Changes: - The watch doesn't block input from games anymore if the bar isn't open. - Made some changes to the UI of anchoring in the settings menu. - Possible fix for some games breaking everything (Saints and Sinners) Known Issues: - Overlays straight up don't appear for a small amount of people. (possibly some AMD issue?) - Capturing windows will occasionally not show the right thing at all.

Hey guys! Update time is here yet again! New Features: Automatic detection if the Desktop Duplication API fails. Will switch to window capture mode. Settings menu (and tons of new options on it). Switchable overlay dragging types. Semi-hidden option in config file to override SteamVR Overlay rendering quality. Bug Fixes: Fixed windows only interacting with the first laser that touched them. Numerous random bug fixes. Known Issues: Again, performance still sucks. Laser will occasionally deactivate itself when opening the bar from the watch. The button to close the bar is missing, use the watch to close it again. No tutorial. Window capture might fail under load. See you guys at release tomorrow! :)

Heyo! This is a patch for the release candidate earlier today. Fixes: Mouse smoothing no longer sucks. Window capture will automagically fix itself if you resize the window. Re-enabled the FPS Bubble on the watch. Fixed some scrolling issues. Cleaned up some UI. Fixed things relating to look showing. Known Issues: Performance still isn't great. Interaction will not work with some applications that don't support touch input. Keyboard doesn't support uppercase.

Release is right around the corner for Desktop Portal! This is the first release candidate build. New Features: Reworked window capture selection. Added more usable desktop capture. Added 3d audio and sound effects. Optimized window capture. (Still have a lot to do in this area). New UI for the bar. Library rework. New watch. Tons of other random stuff. Fixed numerous bugs. Known Issues: No tutorial for new users. RAM usage is somewhat high with lots of windows.
