For a short while I had a very specific obsession with early 90s F1 console games - partly because it's often acknowledged as a golden age of the sport and partly because there were so damn many of the things at the time. Of the vast glut of them that crowded shelves back then it was always Exhaust Heat that was something of a favourite, its Mode 7-powered take on the 1992 season surprisingly authentic (plus I'll never forget the car journey home from a Slough shopping centre clutching the box in the back seat, the passing street lights occasionally illuminating the glorious airbrushed cover art). We're really happy to announce today that big changes are coming to Inertial Drift - but before we get to that, we have to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shown support, bought, downloaded, wishlisted or reviewed Inertial drift. Over the past year, we've been thinking about how we can improve and grow the overall experience and today is the first day of that journey into expanding the Inertial Drift universe. As some of you will have noticed there are some changes to the current roster, specifically; - The original Roton 7D is now Class B with updated handling. - We've also added a New upgraded Roton 7D Super for Class A. Hello Drifters, We've been overwhelmed by your enthusiasm and support for Inertial Drift over the past couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone who has provided thoughts, feedback and ideas as to how we can improve the game. We will assess all of these and will look to make improvements to the game in subsequent updates. For the time being, a smaller update is now live on Steam: Adjusted the difficulty of the events in several Challenges and Grand Prix Mode. Including those for Dragon, Chrono, 7D, Jet Z, Bullet, Jester, Gecko RX and Gladio. Added the ability to Finish Event early from the pause menu in Endurance events after a medal has been achieved. - Drift Gyro: How the Twin Stick Controls Work in Inertial Drift - 8 September 2020
Inertial Drift's unique twin-stick control scheme gives you independent control over both steering and drifting, but how does the drift stick work? It's all thanks to the Drift Gyro! Under the bonnet of every car there are two super-dense discs counter rotating at several thousand rpm. When you slam on the Drift Stick (right hand side!), power is diverted to the discs, tilting them off axis to create a torque on the car which kicks out the back end into a perfectly controlled slide. Online Options We recommend taking on Inertial Drift's gameplay modes to hone your craft before taking on other racers online. But who are we to stop you jumping online straight away? When playing online you'll have three car classes to choose from - Class C, Class B and Class A.
