- Hotfix 1.2.10 - 2 June 2026
A quick fix for Return to Save Crystal creating a softlock condition on one specific save crystal. If you were previously affected by this bug and managed to save out-of-bounds, just Return to Save Crystal again to move back in bounds.
- Minor Update 1.2.9 - 29 May 2026
Fixes the convergence doors setting your return crystal location. (If it's already set there, it doesn't forcibly clear it, but you won't be able to set it there again, which prevents the cloning issue). Fixes the Gem that doesn't get properly tracked by the eye (hopefully, again) Significant changes to the latter half of Hero's Sprint, including new maps and music. Most key items are easier to find and obtain, and a certain map has had its difficulty greatly reduced. There is now some recognition of 100%ing the mode. Title screens now default to "CONTINUE" selected if savedata exists. You can no longer access The Fallen World if you lack the appropriate save data. (Fixes a crash on the red ending when savedata doesn't meet certain assumptions.) Resolved a certain skeleton's loneliness. Fixed an NPC's colorblindness with regards to fashion.
- Quality of Life Update 1.2.8 - 17 May 2026
Today's update is pretty straightforward: The pause menu has been redesigned slightly. There is a notable new entry: Return to Save Crystal. If you have previously activated a Save Crystal, this will return you to the last one you used. There are some circumstances in which the option might not be available (cutscenes, special game modes, or areas you are not able to leave naturally). Steam Cloud is now enabled for Hero's Spirit. Steam Rich Presence is now enabled. A handful or four of scattered map adjustments and new shortcuts have been added.
- Critical Hotfix 1.2.7b - 14 May 2026
A DLL file got excluded from 1.2.7 by mistake, preventing the game from launching for anyone that doesn't have OpenAL natively installed. This corrects that omission.
- Hotfix 1.2.7 - 14 May 2026
Quick fix for an important item that was not being properly located by the eye of the collector.
- Hotfix 1.2.6 - 10 May 2026
Hotfixes an critical issue where one chest of gold became inaccessible in the 1.2.5 update. It's now accessible again. Savedata was not affected by either.
- Minor Update 1.2.5 - 10 May 2026
Not the 'big deal' that's still coming up. But the cat bug and a couple quality of life fixes were piling up, so we've pushed them to Steam! Prevent sprint starting if you lack sprinting technology. Replaced some music tracks (shops, dust shelf) Adjusted some dialogues Each shop now has unique dialogue Fixed cat solidity again New shrine interior/activation Fixed a bug with a certain miniboss respawning Fixed an issue with exit tile palettes in the Tunnels Fixed a mapping error in Mundeman that allowed access to the map border Slowed down movement for the high speed game mode slightly Updated credits and special thanks! Tons of internal code cleanup that hopefully didn't break everything :D Removed Herobrine
- Hotfix 1.2.4 - 17 July 2025
Very tiny maintenance update: Fixes the footprint icon on the credits screen by adding some padding to all the end screen stat displays Update credits for Haphestia -> The Witch of Null
- Hotfix 1.2.3 - 26 May 2025
Improves upon variable cat solidity. Resolved by making the cat a bit hungrier than before. Who knew that cat science was so complicated? (Cats will now path into enemies, resolving the troublesome "stalemate" bug from before the last "fix", while also reverting the last "fix" which accidentally made them untamable.)
- Minor Update 1.2.2 - 20 May 2025
Changelog: Cats are a liquid, not a solid (eww) Fixes mirror portal being unresponsive in some circumstances. Fixes some inaccurate tiles in Memory culling. Fixes some portals being the wrong color. Added a wisdom closet
- Minor Update 1.2.1 - 19 April 2025
A minor update to fix some issues with the "Update++" update changes. Rewrote all of the main boss dialogues. Fixed some shortcuts in Heroic Hardcore Mode. A lot of general cleanup on the backend, should marginally improve performance Reorganized ROM contents to be more, well, organized Fixed the player sprite being too low on some game end screens Fixed issues with the Completionist achievement. Now awards retroactively in case anyone who earned it didn't receive it yet. Fixed some tiles rendering incorrectly (again). Changed how a certain celestial event interacts with the main boss fight Added a little something to the Strange Ruins Adjusted which maps reflect the sky during a certain event Simplified how text is handled during a certain dragon encounter Updated to .NET 8.0 Changed the dialogue timings in the boss fight to allow a bit more time to read Removed Herobrine
- "Update++" - 7 April 2025
Well, look who’s back! It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since Hero’s Spirit first hit the scene, right? Hero’s Spirit has always been a true passion project—a labor of love. But, oh boy, what a journey it’s been. There were ups and downs, some things that didn’t quite land, and a whole lot of engine rewrites (seriously, I lost count). We’ve poured countless hours into the game, fine-tuning every little detail. And honestly, if things had gone any differently, Hero’s Spirit wouldn’t be this Hero’s Spirit. But hey, we’ve learned a ton—about user experience, accessibility, community, and managing a project this big. Sometimes, we weren’t putting our best foot forward (though we thought we were!), but the great thing is, we’re always improving. And we’re nowhere near done yet. Now, let’s talk about what’s new. The last couple of years may have been quiet here on Steam, but behind t…

- Coming Very Soon: The Collector's Update - 25 June 2021
It's come to our attention that a certain one of our players has very nearly completed the dive, all the way to the bottom of the game. In a desperate attempt to slow them down, we've contrived a small, simple update that just adds a couple new maps, a handful of new equipment, a sprinkling of quality of life features, some unlockable cosmetic options, a new collectable item type, a couple new mechanics, a new music track, a redesign of the HUD, a new shop, fast travel enhancements, escalates your relationship with a certain NPC, addresses some complaints, and smells vaguely like chicken but only on Thursdays. (edit: so, it turns out the chicken thing wasn't true. sorry folks, I was misinformed.) Front and center, the star of the show, is a new piece of equipment: The Eye of the Collector. This item will help you, sort of, as you attempt to track down all those pesky items scattered abo…

- View Distance Update - 4 January 2021
Hero's Spirit: View Distance Update Hello everyone! An update for Hero's Spirit has just gone live. With it comes a new parameter in the Settings menu, called View Distance. https://i.imgur.com/xhsceO1.png Defaults to Original which is the game as you currently know it; but you can change it to Enhanced to increase visibility in certain situations, such as thick forests. This setting will make collection efforts easier, the choice of whether to use this new feature is up to you. Comparisons: https://i.imgur.com/y70Yym4.png https://i.imgur.com/XRulfFd.png There is now a slight buff to the view distance in the direction the hero is facing. Previously, visibility was omni-directional regardless of facing direction, and still is, but you will see a bit more clearly in the facing direction while in Enhanced mode. There are more nuanced changes as well in Enhanced view distance which reduce s…
