• Assemble With Care's free new level is also its most complex - 19 June 2020

  Earlier this year, the developers of Monument Valley brought their newest pastel creation to PC. Now, Ustwo Games are tinkering with the game itself some more, adding a free epilogue level to Assemble With Care .   Assemble With Care, the charming 80s-themed bric-a-brac restoration game from Monument Valley developer Ustwo, has just received its first free update, introducing an expansive epilogue to cap its well-received core campaign. Assemble With Care initially launched as an Apple Arcade exclusive late last year and then made its way to Steam in March; it's a lovely, low-key thing - part illustrated storybook, part puzzle game - that charts the adventures of Maria, a globe-trotting antique restorer, as she helps the residents of the sun-soaked town of Bellariva save their beloved possessions. The storytelling is pleasant enough, but it's the tactile delights found in restoring an assortment of ageing keepsakes and mementos that really makes the experience shine, whether you're twirling a pencil to re-spool a cassette tape, rewiring the innards of an old gaming handheld, disassembling an old c…

• Time for a coffee break! - 19 June 2020

  Back when we created a working prototype of the game - the interaction which ended up becoming the cassette deck level - we came up with the problem of choosing which objects would make it to the final game. There were so many cool ideas thrown about: a set of dolls, a skateboard, Scalextric, an orrery etc. But we had to combine cool objects, that had interesting interactions and would make sense in the story. And that's when we created THE COOL BOARD! It had two axes: Cool, and Risky. One of the winners, that everyone loved and wanted in the game, was too complex. There was no way to fit it into the story in a way that wouldn't break up the pacing and take us too long to finish. So we decided against it. Until now. • Plug your headphones into your Walkmans, here comes the soundtrack! - 1 May 2020

  Happy 1 month anniversary everyone! Well, not quite, but close enough. On the 26th of March we released Assemble with Care on PC and we wanted to say thank you for your support so far! Our reviews have been very heartwarming to read. Some of you highlighted a few bugs (more on that below). And some others mentioned you really liked the soundtrack! This leads us to our first update: The soundtrack is now available for free for anyone who purchases (or already purchased) Assemble with Care on Steam. What's more, it's also available on major music streaming platforms! • Assemble with Care now live on PC! - 26 March 2020

  Steam is familiar territory to us as players but finally releasing a game here as developers we feel giddy and excited! In 2017 we released Monument Valley 2 and started prototyping a few different games. Being an eclectic bunch with different tastes and inspirations, we found it hard to define what it was that an “ustwo games game” was and with Assemble with Care, we feel like we found out what connects all of our games. One aspect of that is bringing what we love about videogames to as wide an audience as possible, and what better way to reach millions of people than Steam? When Assemble with Care released on Apple Arcade we had the challenge of creating a game that worked on mobile devices (iOS), Apple TV and Mac.
