- Unity Security Vulnerability - 16 October 2025
Hello Virtuosos! Recently Unity identified a security vulnerability with their game engine and, although there is no evidence that any user has been affected and platforms have taken steps to mitigate the issue, we decided to be double-safe and, using the fix provided by Unity, we released a new patch for Virtuoso that addresses the vulnerability. - Virtuoso Holiday Update - 12 December 2024
Hi everyone! ❄️ It's time to make some seasonal music! For the holidays, we've got a new update ready for Virtuoso. Get ready to dive in and explore these brand new features: Disco is Dead You can now set the number of beats per bar anywhere between one and ten. So, go out there and make some choral hymns or walzes in three-time, power ballads in six-time, or progressive electronica in five or seven-time! Polish your Productions You can now export your Virtuoso project to a neat zip-file containing all the stems, samples, patches and even MIDI. All for easy importing into your music application of choice, where you can take your music to the next level. 'Tis the Season We've snuck in a couple of seasonal sounds to the instruments and drum pads. Look out for jingles and bells! Plus, as always, some smaller quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. Time for a new update, and this is an exciting one! A Brand New Instrument Say hello to the Rimba! Beat out a melody and create note sequences that play on top. Our first melodic mallet based instrument allows you to play more dynamically and rhythmically, and create experimental patterns that scale relative to the note you play on. Plus hexagons really are the bestagons, aren't they? Virtuoso Remote Control API If you ever dreamt of controlling your external music program from Virtuoso, you might be familiar with the MIDI Companion App. We're happy to announce that it has finally been updated and made open source! Plus, the secrets of Virtuoso's network communication are now documented and laid bare, meaning anyone can create new apps that use Virtuoso to trigger external sounds and synthesizers. What’s inside: Brand new Clustr - the Clustr instrument has been rebuilt from the ground up to make it much easier to play chords and chord progressions. Give it a try, we promise you won’t look back! More instrument effects - the effects panel on the instruments has been updated with new tabs giving you more settings to play with, including volume and distortion! More shrooms - all this music-making has brought out more fungal visitors in the Fungi Forest environment, dancing it out to your tunes! Updated interaction visuals - putting your hands into the instruments now shows a wristband with your hand tilt and clearer visuals for what note you are hovering over. This time we have a tiny update for you. Hope you enjoy! Here's what changed: Template Save - You can now set a saved song as your template for new songs. This allows you to bring up your favourite drum setup, sounds and instrument positions every time you start a new project! Custom Colors - To better match the environments to your personal style, you can now select interface and instrument colors from the environments tab. Fixed an issue where a loop recording would sometimes instantly stop and overwrite your last recorded track with silence. Fixed an issue where you would sometimes hit things as if you had mallets (drum sticks) despite them not being visible. Various smaller fixes and stability improvements.

Virtuoso has been out for a month, and we’re ready to deliver the first update! It’s a mixed bag of new graphics, features, improvements, and fixes. Enjoy! What is new: Instrument frames! Most instruments now have a cool visual frame that reacts when you play. For purists, it can be toggled off. Drum effects! Empads now have settings for Reverb and Compression, allowing you to lay down some really epic beats. Shroom Cam! Lord Capington III, “Cap” for short, is working the spectator camera, allowing you to position it anywhere! (PC only) Microphone can now be toggled to always be on, allowing you to record meatspace things that require both hands. Microphone reverb monitoring can now also be turned off, for those who get distracted by hearing their own echo. We are so proud to let you know that our musical VR sandbox title Virtuoso is coming in just a few weeks, on March 10! Virtuoso lets anyone play and perform music in new, immersive ways. Explore a range of unique instruments made for VR and share your tracks with the world! We have created the six instruments of Virtuoso specifically for VR. For example, you can set up your own custom drum kit with the Empads and tickle the keys of the three-dimensional Oorgan. You can also add vocals with lush reverb using the virtual microphone! The interactive tutorial along with intuitive instruments and tools means that everyone, from professional producers to casual music lovers, can become Virtuosos!
