- We might not get GTA 6 this year, but at least this hefty sale gives you Rockstar's finest at prices too low to ignore - 25 January 2026
As part of the PC crowd, I'm pretty resigned to the fact that, even if its initial November release date sticks, we won't be getting GTA 6 over here in 2026. Rockstar Games will want to let its console version sit for a while, whether that's to ensure the PC version is as polished as possible, or simply to entice you to shell out for a PS5 or Xbox copy knowing that you'll probably buy it again when it comes to the Steam shores. If you need something to take your mind off that temptation, a new Rockstar Games sale is just the ticket. Read the rest of the story... - Bully Online lead says a "legal threat" forced its shutdown, but insists the mod "never posed any threat to anybody" - 23 January 2026
In a world where Rockstar Games can more than comfortably get by on just GTA and Red Dead Redemption, some of its more maverick but no less beloved series have been put on extended hiatus. Bully is a prime example, but a recent mod project to turn it into a GTA Online-style experience really breathed new life into it. However, just a few weeks after it went live, Bully Online was swiftly shut down , with no reason given - however, a cease and desist from Rockstar or parent company Take-Two always felt like the most likely outcome. YouTuber 'Swegta', the project's lead, has now posted a video explaining that a "legal threat" was the reason why Bully Online closed, and confirms that the team behind it, Fat Pigeon Development, will no longer pursue the project. While it's not explicitly said who this threat came from, Swegta says that you can "take two guesses as to who is behind this." Re…
- Promising Bully mod, which mirrored GTA Online multiplayer, gets axed just one month after launching - 15 January 2026
20 years on, Bully is still very much a cult hit. It's relatively understated by Rockstar Games' standards; it's a far more concise experience compared to its other sprawling open-world games , but it's no less excellent. Recently, a team of modders brought GTA Online-style multiplayer functionality to Canis Canem Edit. But, sadly, it has already been pulled. Read the rest of the story... - You could be playing Bully Online before GTA 6, but it's not Rockstar making it - 28 October 2025
If you're still holding out for a sequel to Rockstar's Bully , then I admire your relentless optimism. Lend me some, would you? I don't ever see a world where Bully 2 gets made, sadly, but I think I've just found the next best thing for fans of one of the most beloved open-world games in Rockstar's stacked catalog. Incredibly, thanks to a team of modders, we're getting Bully Online before we get GTA 6. Read the rest of the story... - Ahead of the GTA 5 PC update, Rockstar is quietly working on Bully - 22 November 2024
In the pantheon of 'games we would all like but we might never get,' Bully 2 is up there now with Half-Life 3, Sleeping Dogs 2, and a new Titanfall. Originally released back in 2006, Bully takes the fundamental GTA formula and ages it down. Instead of a hardened career criminal, you're tearaway schoolboy Jimmy Hopkins. Rather than robbing banks, you're dropping cherry bombs in the faculty toilet. Funny, feisty, and with a great soundtrack by Shawn Lee, with Rockstar now focused on Grand Theft Auto 6, Bully's return seems less likely than ever. But it hasn't been forgotten completely. An updated version of GTA 5 is coming to PC, and it seems Rockstar may be preparing something Bully related at the same time. Read the rest of the story... - Ahead of GTA 6, one of Rockstar's most underrated games is 65% off - 21 October 2024
While the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date feels like it's miles off, Bully, one of Rockstar's most underrated titles, is the perfect way to wile that time away. The 2006 action-adventure game sees you playing as a rebellious boy named Jimmy Hopkins as he attends Bullworth Academy and it feels just like the GTA games of its era, except instead of driving cars and using guns, Jimmy rides a bike and uses a slingshot. It's a charming game and well-worth buying - especially while 65% off at Humble. Read the rest of the story... - The most underappreciated game Rockstar ever made is just $5 right now - 26 March 2024
With Grand Theft Auto 6 finally on the horizon, now's a good time to look back at Rockstar Games' catalog. While series like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto are bound to get the most attention from players looking to revisit some of the studio/publisher's past work, there's another open world game starring a remorseless delinquent terrorizing a swath of the United States worth checking out. That game's Bully: Scholarship Edition and it's 65% off on Steam right now. Read the rest of the story... - Bully 2 may have been killed by stretching resources too thin, layoffs – report - 31 December 2021
Game Informer’s Blake Hester published a detailed report all about the Bully 2 that might have been and what led to the studio developing the sequel’s downfall. In short, Rockstar New England was pulled in multiple directions to the point where Bully 2 was no longer the focus of the developers who worked there. Rockstar New England, which was purchased by Rockstar when the former was Mad Doc Software and was responsible for the next-gen remaster of the first Bully at the time, had ambitious plans for the sequel, a bigger, more characterized game that could stand alongside L.A. Noire and Grand Theft Auto 4 as a grand tentpole release worthy of the Rockstar name. It was not to be, though, as the studio got pulled in multiple directions, called on to assist with projects like Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 and immersed in the crunch culture that came with working on those games. This…
- Rockstar co-founder and head writer Dan Houser is leaving - 5 February 2020
After 21 years as a Rockstar Games big cheese, Dan Houser will leave the company in March. He’s co-written almost every Rockstar game since 1999, including Grand Theft Auto from London through to V, Bully, Max Payne 3, and the Red Dead Redemptions. That’s made him a big influence on the tone of Rockstar’s games. I wonder how that might change once he’s moved on. Where he’s going and what he’ll do next, we don’t know. He can probably afford to eat pizza while watching Heat on loop the rest of his life, to be honest. (more…)
- The 7 most needless minigames - 22 November 2019
One Off The List is our weekly list feature. Is there something you think doesn t deserve to be on this list? Comment with your reasons why, and next week it may be let off. Minigames are the coffee Revel of videogames. They are harmless, infrequent and unpleasant to think about. We accept their presence, yet no one has ever eaten a pack of Revels and wished for more coffee nuggets. Nobody completed Final Fantasy X and thought: Needs more Blitzball . That minigames exist as a mild distraction inside the glowing guts of other games is itself ridiculous. Imagine you were on a golf course, and hole 12 turned out to be its own 8-hole pitch n putt. This is stupid, you d think, and then you would play pitch n putt for the rest of the day in a mindless stupor. Here are the 7 most gratuitous minigames – but do they all deserve to be here? (more…)
- Beating the Bully - 10 October 2019
Mike Skupa doesn't ship games often - two in the last 16 years - but when he does, you take notice. He was the design director of undercover cop game Sleeping Dogs, and one of two principal designers on Rockstar's back-to-school classic Bully, both still loved by fans today. Seven years after Sleeping Dogs released and three years on from developer United Front Games' collapse, he's finally ready to talk about what he's been cooking up. But as eager as I am to hear about his next game (and don't worry, we'll get into that later), I'm keen to find out how he reflects on the ups and downs of his career so far. His successes haven't come easy: the joy of creating Bully was only made possible by 80-hour work weeks that left him burnt out, he tells me. The "fairy-tale" release of Sleeping Dogs was followed by years of uncertainty and aborted projects, culminating in him being told, with no n…
- Have You Played Bully: Scholarship Edition? - 10 October 2019
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. Rockstar get a lot of praise for their big creaking flagships, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. But I ll be honest, y all: neither series really grabbed me. I toyed with many a GTA, and I dabbled a bit in the rootin tootin wild west of RDR. But I didn t finish any of them, eventually growing bored every time. A Rockstar game I did finish, however, was Bully . (more…)

- 'Bully Bullworth Academy' trademark filed - 26 November 2013
Cult favorite Bully has gotten another trademark registration, signaling a possible sequel. Take-Two Interactive filed a trademark in Europe for the title "Bully Bullworth Academy: Canis Canem Edit."
- Bully sequel could go 'a lot of directions,' says Rockstar - 25 September 2013
Bully has become a cult favorite, trading the studio's usual crime drama motifs for a simpler story about a kid dealing with the pressures of teenage life. Rockstar's Dan Houser says he'd still love to make a sequel, though it wouldn't go in the direction fans might think.
- Bully trademark registered by Take-Two - 30 July 2013
While it may not have been the runaway success of its other open world games, Rockstar's Bully is still beloved by many. Parent Take-Two Interactive has filed a new trademark application for Bully, making curious types wonder if the company is considering a follow-up to the long-dormant IP. The trademark application was filed yesterday, nearly seven years since the game's original release. Gamespot notes that a Bully sequel was tabled to work on Max Payne, with Rockstar head Dan Houser telling now-shuttered dev Rockstar Vancouver: "You can do Max, and then we will see what we can do with Bully." A sequel has been rumored ever since the game's composer name-dropped one. That was four years ago.
