I'm a few holes into A Little Golf Journey , digging the low poly graphics, vibing to the conventionally chill acoustic guitar and piano soundtrack, and thinking "yeah, this is a pretty solid golf game." Then as I contemplate whether to risk a shot over the water to score a birdie, I notice a shimmering presence suspended in the air. A giant floating, practically invisible cube has appeared above the water, like if a block from Super Mario gained Predator cloaking. A quick thwack later, I've landed my golf ball on top of the cube, letting me easily snag a collectible I'll need for later levels... Read more.

Hi golfers and music lovers, As you read in my last post, we have a long soundtrack for an indie golf game. 70 minutes of relaxing music, which incidentally is 70 minutes more music than we ever intended or imagined having in the game when we set out on this journey. One of our earlier videos showing off the game, when it was just golf and no journey, caught the attention of composer Haakon Davidsen who gave us the opportunity of writing music for the game. Initially he was only going to make a couple of tracks, but with each new piece we wanted to give the game the soundtrack it deserved, which means you'll now get to enjoy 22 tracks covering a wide range of styles. Hi golfers! It feels like we've been on our Little Golf Journey for a long time, but the end is nearly in sight now. Sorry, we can't announce a release date just yet - we will do so soon! But since we were recently able to get our first 100% playthrough of the game (completing, unlocking, and collecting everything) I thought I'd share a few stats about what you can expect from A Little Golf Journey. There are 400 stars to collect in the game. Not every star is found in a golf hole! We worked hard to round it up to a nice number. Somehow 387 stars didn't look quite as satisfying. There are 61 Blue Things to collect in the game. What is a Blue Thing? We don't know, but I'm sure they'll be useful along your journey in some way... Hi golfers! While we've been very busy lately, I thought I'd share with you some images from the game showing the progress we've made in one area in particular. Here you can see a couple of screenshots from the Forest of Mist, our Wales inspired location full of cobbled castles, fields of flowers, and a mist that gently kisses the lakes with a magical silvery hue! I'm not sure what that wisp is doing in this next image. I've heard that wisps can sometimes lead people to hidden treasures... Also Haakon, our composer, has created a couple of haunting Celtic inspired melodies for this location. We're pleased to be able to share the news that A Little Golf Journey will be published by Playtonic Friends, the recently formed publishing label from the creators of Yooka-Laylee. They've brought along their expertise ( and love of golf ) and have been helping us bring our vision for a relaxing golf adventure game to reality. So what does this mean for the game, I hear you ask? Well, we can focus on making the game we want and can take it to the quality level it deserves. A Little Golf Journey will still have simple to play golf gameplay, beautiful art, secrets galore, and a soothing soundtrack. And we can also announce that we hope to release the game later this year, so keep checking back here for more news. - Water water everywhere - 8 May 2021
This is one of the more technical posts, but we wanted to show you some of the new visuals for the game. Since our game is composed of dioramas we have to think about not just what's on the golf courses, but the sides as well, and we got a bit bored of staring at flat water edges for a long time so we used a parallax shader to create the illusion that there's more going on inside the water than there actually is. https://i.imgur.com/axNeO0C.gif Hopefully we'll be able to make it look even prettier before we finish the game! Firstly, a thank-you to everyone who checked out our game during the Steam festival, whether you played the demo, wishlisted us, streamed us, or simply wanted to see what this little game is about. It was great to see how much people liked our game. Secondly, here's a small progress update from us. We've been working on our winter location and here's a sneak peak of the winter wonderland. We've been staring out of our windows at nothing but snow for the last 2 months and the icicles just continue to get bigger and bigger! I'm hoping that the next location we work on will be warmer.
