- Permanent 25% Discount - 11 September 2024
It happened: the game's cheaper to buy. In preparation for the upcoming Decide 4 God release, I planned to reduce the price of Head AS Code and Birth ME Code, and now it's been done. At first I was going to discount it closer to the release date of Decide 4 God, but since it's taking a while to finish that game and this is a really good time slot for it, that's where I ended up doing it. But why reduce the price? The reasons why I wanted to reduce the price are few but important: one, because I've received numerous reviews saying the price point wasn't quite correct in the past. Two, I based my pricing on what you'd spend for a real, tangible novel of the games' sizes, but perhaps that was a little high. And to clarify, I've always been somewhat uncompromising on the value of a project since I really would prefer not putting anyone in a situation where they bought the game full price on…
- Version 1.3.0 patch notes - 26 April 2023
Hello fans of Birth ME Code! Patch 1.3.0 is finally out after such a long time. There's not a lot to say despite it all. It's a few bug fixes that have been a long time coming and some new content. It is not a lot, or very long content, but it's been missing for a long time and I'm very happy to finally be done with that. A future patch will follow to deal with some more bug fixes, and I'm tentatively thinking about an eventual overhaul patch to catch up the game's quality with the level at which I'm at while developing Decide 4 God, but don't expect it until that game comes out at the very earliest. Patch Notes General The final bonus segment is now included into the game. It contains small spoilers for Head AS Code, so you would do well to play that game first before reading it. You don't have to, but it would be preferable to do it. This segment is the final missing link between Birt…
- Steam Trading Cards and Character Bonuses added! - 15 September 2021
Hello, fans of Birth ME Code. Today I have the pleasure to announce that the game has qualified for Steam Trading Cards and will, from now on, reward those as you play! In total, we have 8 trading cards you can collect and from those, 8 backgrounds and 10 emoticons available as drops from finishing badge levels. Most of the emoticons are centered around ME, the titular avatar of the mastermind, though there is also an elusive and rare Cool S emoticon... Onto the news for the game, here are the patch notes for version 1.2.3: Character-specific bonus segments were added for all your post-game save files. You don't have to do anything special to unlock them; they are accessible as soon as you see the True Ending splash image at the end of your game file. Note that all of these character-centric bonus segments focus on each of the main cast, as they are asked questions that were submitted o…
- Decide 4 God has been announced! - 14 September 2021
I'm proud to announce the eventual release of Decide 4 God, the final entry in the Abime Series. In this game, you will follow two different viewpoints: a woman who is investigating to find her missing brother from 20 years ago and a man who is attempting to escape a high security prison. You can expect even further twists and turns including the re-contextualization of a lot of what you thought you knew about the Abime Series. Please note that the screenshots and the info on the Decide 4 God Steam page are subject to change later, though the fundamentals of both are set in stone. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1728290/Decide_4_God/ Key features: (as of now) The final chapter in the Abime Series. Decide 4 God contains the entire truth behind the events of both Head AS Code and Birth ME Code. Familiar faces return and new faces emerge to complete the unfortunate cast suffering throug…
- Version 1.2.2 patch notes - 22 June 2021
Hello fans of Birth ME Code! Patch 1.2.2 is finally out and I'm so eager to bring to you all of the quality of life updates I wanted to give this game for the longest time. Without further ado, let's go over the patch notes. This time, there's too much to list in here, so I'll leave some of it as a surprise. Patch Notes General The entire game structure has been overhauled. The looks of the settings, save files menu, extras and even the flowchart have been updated. The game now has Social Media icons on the main menu. Follow and/or join for information about upcoming games or updates to this one! Visual novel Every segment's code has been reworked to allow for smoother pacing based on the text speed that you've selected. Every Deduction room has been modified in many ways. Deduction rooms no longer have the UI in the way while exploring the room. Some Deduction rooms have had their over…
- Update on the next upcoming patch - 10 May 2021
Hello, fans of Birth ME Code! Today I bring to you a preview of the next patch that I've been working on. The second of three patches will be coming in the next months and I can't wait to finish working on it so that you can experience the game in an even better way than before. The new inventory screen Down below you can see a preview of the new inventory screen, which will actually allow you to combine items, instead of having the game do it for you automatically! Pretty cool, isn't it? The entire user interface during Deduction Rooms has been updated in general. No longer will the UI get in the way; you'll have a full view of the rooms you explore with nigh-seamless transitions. I'd love to show other things like the flowchart as well. Actually, why not? Why shouldn't we have it? Here, have a look at the new flowchart! The new flowchart As you can see, you can now zoom in and zoom ou…
- Head AS Code has released! - 25 February 2021
Hello, fans of the Abime Series! Can I call you the "Abimers"? Whatever your name is, I've been hard at work in the past 9 months or so to bring you the Head AS Code remake, which for all intent is the definitive version of Head AS Code (and the only one on Steam). If you enjoyed Birth ME Code (and even if you didn't), you should check it out! It's the original game that started the Abime Series and it is its own tale, with its own cast, twists and events. What can you expect? Well... A story where eight characters are put together in a deadly game of escape Many, many choices to have fun or interesting interactions with other characters or the environment Interactive segments where YOU decide how Simon goes around solving the rooms (still no "real escape room gameplay", sorry!) Twists, deaths and/or thrilling suspense on every path An ever-expanding flowchart which opens after your fir…
- Version 1.2.1 Ending rewrite - 7 February 2021
New ending content: The entire ending segment of the game has been rewritten to be more easily digestible. Your save files will be adjusted accordingly once you download this updated version. Apologies if you lose some progress but it was necessary. This is the first of three major patches that will happen during 2021. The next patch will focus on converting the save files to a new format and allowing more than one global save file. A few other features such as control of the writing speed will also take place in that patch. That patch is scheduled for potential delivery during April 2021. A small demo update will also follow up sometime in the future to adjust some inadequacies. The final of those three patches will significantly upgrade the overall experience in the visual novel segments but there is no ETA on that one. It is a very large undertaking where I will be going through eve…
- Upcoming patches for Birth ME Code - 26 January 2021
Hello, fans of Birth ME Code! I've decided to dedicate some time in finally updating Birth ME Code now that I'm less busy with the Head AS Code remake. Several patches will follow in the future and here is the general timeline of how I'm envisioning them. Note that I'd rather not be bound to any specific time to make them happen except for the first one, and alongside them I'll be working on Project Deforge (name pending). The first patch will include a complete rewrite of the ending segments. I also plan to make it so if you go into a segment that was modified post-patch with an older save file, it will automatically direct you back to the first modified segment. It is the one named "Usurper", and anything following it will be modified for a better comprehensive understanding of the overarching plot. This patch will go live around the time at which Head AS Code will release on Steam. T…
- Steam winter sale! - 22 December 2020
Hello to all fans and fans-to-be of the Abime Series and thank you for your support along this long, long year! It is now ending and hopefully you have managed to cozy up at home, with a warm cup of hot cocoa, ready to play your favorite games over the holidays. That's right, it's time for the winter sale! Birth ME Code is, of course, participating in the Steam winter sale and the game will be at a 20% discount for the duration of the winter sale. Regardless if they are the tall or the small, everyone in this tale of treachery has their own agenda. Can you avoid being made a fool by the participants? Can you turn it against them and win your future back? Whatever the outcome is, it is as always my sincerest hope you'll find some enjoyment out of this fictional story full of lies and deceit. Happy holidays, happy new year and see you in 2021 when Head AS Code will release!
- Head AS Code trailer is out! - 9 December 2020
The trailer to Head AS Code, Birth ME Code's sister game is now released! Please enjoy this early taste of the Head AS Code experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjgnvbMXlew Have you tried the demo yet? Be sure to wishlist it to be notified of any announcements and, most importantly, when the game will launch! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1338940
- Steam autumn sale! - 25 November 2020
Birth ME Code is participating in the Steam autumn sale! The game will be at a 20% discount for the duration of the autumn sale. I chose to allow a 20% discount this time around because I believe it has been a while since the launch of the game and it does put it right at the price point it will eventually have when Head AS Code is released. Hopefully that can encourage some of you who have been waiting for the price to decrease in order to experience this game! And even better, more bonus patches are on the horizon in the future, so you get even more post-game story for your money. One of them even came out recently! It's the best time to pick up the game and see what this gang of misfits is up to... Thank you for your support and please enjoy this tale of treachery!
- Version 1.2.0 patch notes - 26 October 2020
New content: The second bonus segment has been added. It can be accessed from the main menu after the main story has been completed. It is in the third slot despite being called "the second bonus segment" as bonus #1 and bonus #2 will be non-canon Patreon questions & answers. While it is a relatively short segment, it should offer more context. To access it, it is currently not required to have unlocked the special post-story segment on the flowchart, but that may change for a future bonus segment. The next bonus segment will be released after the Head AS Code remake comes out. General fixes: Tentative fix for the save file bug preventing the game from launching and/or causing the game to crash. If it persists, open the file_0.ini located in AppData/Birth_ME_Code with notepad and remove lines containing strange symbols. Be sure to not remove anything else, only the lines containing stra…
- Steam summer sale! - 25 June 2020
Birth ME Code is participating in the Steam summer sale! The game will be at a 10% discount for the duration of the summer sale. While it is somewhat close to launch as it was only two months ago, the discount was chosen to be this limited in order to not devalue the money people have spent to play the game. This is just to give a chance for those who wanted to wait for a discount to play it! There currently are no plans on making a bigger discount than 10% until Head AS Code is released on Steam to ensure the value of the game does not diminish. If you were waiting for a bigger discount, you'll be waiting for a while... or you can get the game right now, enjoy it while it's fresh and support me so I can continue making games for you all! Thank you for your support and please enjoy this tale of treachery!
- Version 1.1.0 patch notes - 22 June 2020
New content: The first bonus segment has been added. It can be accessed from the main menu after the main story has been completed. General fixes: Added a disclaimer when the game launches. Added an indication for the current game build on the main menu in the bottom left. Changed the copyright to reflect the real one, as the title of the game is technically "Birth ME Code" even if it is part of the Abime Series. General sprucing up of the code in some places to make it more concise. The game now has cloud saving which hopefully will fix a saving issue wherein a crash would delete your global save file and prevent you from progressing normally. The game will now allow window sizes beyond 1920x1080 for full screen. Windowed only has the 4 previous resolutions just like before. Being on a format other than 16:9 will give some black bars when full screen but it should adjust accordingly no…
- Version 1.0.3 patch notes - 4 May 2020
A few things were changed in this version that were a long time coming. You can view the list of changes below. Version 1.0.3 had these fixes: The Full Reset button on the saves interface has been modified to instead indicate Clear Data, along with small adjustments to make it much harder to unintentionally make use of it. It should be very clear now that you should only press that button if you wish to do a complete reset of every piece of data. A bug in which you could reset the lock on two specific segments has been fixed, and should now only set the lock the first time you arrive to that part. A few sprites with the wrong talking animation were fixed. A series of events during one of the late game segments caused the game to lock up and not allow continuation with mouse clicks or spacebar. This should be fixed now, though the exact situation in which the behavior happened couldn't b…
- Update for ending changes - 28 April 2020
Below you can find a summary of the changes with the most recent update, which should be the final one barring small typo fixes. The ending segment beginning from the one called "Mentor" was modified to better present the twists and turns comprising the finale of the story. Some segments have small additions and others have larger rewrites. No segment before that one was modified as part of the ending rework. A certain background in the segment called "Meager" was not properly going through its animation. It has now been fixed. Two more typos were fixed.
- Version 1.0.2 patch notes - 26 April 2020
Apologies for the amount of updates during the first few days of the game's launch! They were necessary to fix a few bugs and other issues players encountered. This is not a complete list of changes but most of them are down below. Version 1.0.1 had these fixes: A certain Deduction Room no longer allows you to get stuck on the keyboard without having all the objects found, rendering the solution impossible to figure out Typos and awkward wordings were fixed Version 1.0.2 had these fixes: The segments named Metagenesis and Meltdown were heavily modified to give a better portrayal of the characters involved as a result of various mishaps It is no longer possible to skip the final puzzle by having the option "Skip all completed puzzles" selected even if the puzzle was not solved yet Many, many typos and awkward wordings were fixed
