- Update 0.2.0 - The C.O.G.S. Update! - 22 December 2020
Hello all! Happy Holidays! Sorry about the radio silence ever since releasing this game into Early Access. I'll be honest, for a while the game was sitting and collecting dust, but I knew it was an incomplete project. I figured if I was going to release an update, it was have to be big, and it would have to be a surprise! Luckily, the time has finally come to reveal what I have been working on! Here's the complete list: Holiday Themed Main Menu As a fun way to celebrate the holiday season, for the next few weeks the main menu will be decorated with colorful lights and falling snow! New Mechanics A few new mechanics have been added to the game, the main ones being a power generator and distractions. Almost all of the levels in the original Early Access release have been reworked to include these new mechanics. New Levels The total level of levels in the game has jumped from 22 to 35! The…
- Thank you! - 30 July 2020
Today is the day! Bells 'n' Whistles is officially out! I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has supported this game. Whether its actually buying the game or just stopping by to read a development update, it means a lot to me. I know there's a person behind each and every one of those stats that I'm able to see behind the scene, so I just wanted to say thank you. Now buy a copy and have some fun! (Fun not guarenteed) Thanks again, Tommy Galletta, Main Celebrator of the release of Bells 'n' Whistles
- Development Update #06 - 9 July 2020
Hello all! I have some very, very exciting news. Bells 'n' Whistles will officially be releasing into Early Access on July 30th at 3:00pm EST. Here's a short run-down of all of the main features the Early Access release will include: Point and click mechanics Over 20 levels A steep difficulty curve A fully fledged tutorial mode Several Steam achievements, including some hidden ones! In the coming weeks before the Early Access release, I will also be overhauling a majority of the store page, as the game has evolved a lot since the initial creation of the store page. That include adding an official trailer for the game! I hope you are all as excited as I am. I'll see you guys on the 30th! - Tommy Galletta, Father of Bells 'n' Whistles
- Development Update #05 - 29 June 2020
So... It has been a while, hasn't it? Sadly, I have not been able to work on this project as much as I would like to. The goal of an end of May or early June release has clearly not come to fruition. However, I'm not giving up on this project or anything. I just need a bit more time. To those who have been waiting for this game, I apologize. There's not much more I can do besides apologizing. Well, I guess I COULD work on the game, that might help. Anyways, I hope everyone who reads this is doing well. I promise that the game WILL come out by the end of summer. Stay safe out there. - Tommy Galletta, The Guy Making Bells 'n' Whistles
- Development Update #04 - 8 May 2020
Hello again! About another week has passed and a lot more work has been done. Recently I've been super motivated to add more things to the game, and a lot of additions and fixes have been made. Here's everything that's new: The tutorial has been completely redone in order to make it a more interactive and more enjoyable experience, and also in order to give the game a bit of personality. Game over messages now display each time you lose for extra character. Lots of code optimizations have been made, which increases the amount of customization options I have when it comes to level creation. There are now a whopping 4 LEVELS that have been implemented into the game, with more to come. All of the sound effects in the game have been completely redone. A lot of the art has been looked over and polished. Ahhh... to heck with it, here's some screenshots of some of the new stuff: As for plans o…
- Development Update #03 - 29 April 2020
Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing at least somewhat well in the middle of all of this Covid chaos. I don't have much news and will try to keep this brief... After a much needed break, though it was longer than I expected, I am re-energized and ready to make more progress on this game. I've made some minor tweaks to make the gameplay experience more enjoyable, however I did not get around to making levels for the game. I have decided that it is best to polish every other aspect of the game first, as I expect level creation to be the most streamlined part of the development process for this game. Levels will be coming though, with the Early Access release soon to follow. My hope is that the early access will be out by the end of May, however I will be taking my time, and I will only release the early access when I am satisfied with the quality and polish of the game, so it is possi…
- Development Update #02 - 19 March 2020
Hello all, and thank you for reading this Development Update. I have good news! The code rewrite has been completed, and a tutorial mode has been added, as well as a bunch of other fixes to make the game a bit more user friendly. This means that all of the framework is finally in place to start creating some levels! I will be working on levels for the game essentially for the rest of the time until the game releases into early access. However, progress for the next few weeks may be a bit slow. As you are probably aware, the spread of the Coronavirus has left many people, including myself, in a state of self-quarantine. While at first I saw this as a great opportunity to make lots of progress on Bells 'n' Whistles, after working on the game for many hours during the first few days of quarantine, I was struck with major burnout. So, I have decided to take a few days in order to brainstorm…
- Development Update #01 - 11 March 2020
Hello to everyone who has decided to stop by and view this little project of mine! Thank you for showing interest in my game. This is the first of a series of newsletters that I hope to continue that will keep everyone interested in this game up to date on the progress that is being made. Here's whats new: Lots of code is being rewritten in order to make the creation process for the game a heck of a lot easier. This process is expected to take a few days. A tutorial that will be accessible from the main menu of the game is in the works that will showcase each component of the gameplay and how it works. This tutorial mode will take a few days to add to the game. After the first two things in this list are completed, I will begin to design levels to be implemented into the game, starting with the easy levels, and slowly working my way up to the hard levels. That's all this news I have for…
