- Heartworm Out Now On Consoles! - 1 October 2026
Heartworm is out NOW on consoles! I'm super excited to announce you can now play Heartworm on Switch 1, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Many have asked over the past year, and I'm so glad to finally deliver so that more people can play. When I was a kid, there were countless nights where I would pretend to go to bed, in my room in my grandmother's basement, until I was sure that everyone else in the house was asleep. Then I would get up, quietly sneak over to turn the television on, power up my uncle's Playstation 1, and journey into the Spencer Mansion. Cheesy and predictable at this point, but ever since - it had always been a dream of mine to make a game. When we finished Heartworm last year I felt like a large part of that dream had been realized. Now it fully will be, knowing that we made a game that someday maybe someone else will stay up long past their bedtime…
- Minor bug fix - Involuntary movement bug finally fixed - 22 July 2026
- Fixed a rare but very annoying and game breaking issue that only affected some users, where the character would move in circles/on their own. This bug was extremely difficult to catch because I was never able to reproduce it on my own. When a player commented about it recently, I decided to take another look since it had been a while. Heartworm uses Unity's new Input System, and I saw that we had set as composite bindings in the Move and Turn actions. After looking into it, I found that it's unlikely was actually ever used for any real input, and more than likely was picking up any HID device or driver - including virtual devices registered via driver software (audio, rgb, macros, etc.). Unity was likely guessing an axis center for these devices, normalizing it, and the result was the character moving seemingly on its own. Again, due to the nature of this bug and my inability to repro…
- Unity Security Update/Small Bug Fix Patch - 10 October 2025
Hi all, Due to the recently found potential security vulnerability in some Unity versions (https://unity.com/security/sept-2025-01) I had to update the engine version, so that is the main focus of this build. I don't believe the game was effected, but I updated just to be safe. I did some testing, but there is the possibility that this introduces unexpected issues. I hope it's not the case but please let me know if you find anything weird.Other bug fixes include:Fixed player controls issue after LTS update - Enabled "input consumption" which is a new project setting that was added by the LTS updateFixed camera mods being deleted if you saved/loaded while camera was unequipped or stored in item boxFixed face material not changing in spider outro cutscene for certain costumes (i.e. tapekeeper costume)Fixed Statue enemy damage hitbox not being disabled sometimes after defeating themThanks,…
- Save/Load Hotfix - 2 October 2025
An issue was reported where sometimes loading the game would lead to a black screen. A player submitted their save file and I was able to solve the issue - turns out there was a minor reference error I had missed when adding the new camera mod. This hot fix should solve it. Thanks, Vincent

- Heartworm is available now! - 31 July 2025
It still feels kind of unbelievable that this day is here. It's hard to express how grateful I am to even have been given the chance to get this far. This all started because I posted a few screenshots online, after years of wondering why I post anything online - but for some reason people really liked them. If I had never done that, I never would have gotten the recommendation to submit the original demo to the Haunted PS1 demo disc, and if I hadn't done that I wouldn't have gotten messages from publishers... I want to thank everyone who has followed the game, wishlisted, subscribed to my Patreon, talked to their friends about it, and supported it in any way. I genuinely wouldn't have been able to do it without you; the interest you showed truly drove this project.I want to thank everyone who worked on the game:Michael, Leo, Yves, Jacob, Carlos, Goba, M, Suzi, Athan. The work you all p…

- Publisher Found / Kickstarter / 2025 - 6 February 2024
Hey everyone! You have no idea how excited I am to be writing this update. I can finally announce that Heartworm has a publisher again - DreadXP! They're a perfect match for our game, and will be supporting us to bring Heartworm to PC. There was a while there where I thought I might never finish this game - but that's not a concern at all anymore. Now I can get back to focusing on creating the best ode to survival horror that I possibly can. A few things this means: - There is no kickstarter anymore. It was a backup plan had I not found publisher support. - Target release is 2025. I wish I could say it was coming this year, but with the delays we have had there's no choice but to push things back - I hope you can understand. I can't wait to show you more. Thanks always, Vincent
- Updates / Misfortune / Kickstarter coming soon - 25 October 2023
Hey all - happy ~1 year anniversary of the demo and thanks to everyone who has played it, followed, wishlisted, or even looked at the game. Since that release we acquired a publisher who was going to help fund, port, market, and localize Heartworm - so I could make it even better than I expected. I recruited a team of four really talented and passionate game devs to help me, and we worked for about 6 months. Unfortunately, as of last week, our publisher has decided to terminate our contract due to financial issues on their end, and as it stands we need a publishing agreement to finish Heartworm. I am working on that, and in communication with some possible partners, but this was really unexpected and now we are taking a huge financial hit. I really want to keep my team, and I need to be able to support them financially to do that, so I have decided to launch a Kickstarter soon. I am pos…

- Retro survival horror Heartworm's demo has a great safe room - 3 November 2022
If our glowing Signalis review has you hungry for more retro-styled survival horror, do also check out the new demo for Heartworm . Inspired by classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, Heartworm is neat even before you learn it's almost entirely made by one person. It offers good times exploring a spooky house, bad times possibly trapped inside a neighbourhood in a VHS tape, and a very cosy time hanging out in the safe room. It is a lovely safe room. Read more
