- Update #4 - More Grumpy Pig Fun! (video) - 14 July 2020
Just a quick status update from us this week! Andy is busy working on music and sound for the demo, this was put back by the death of a laptop (or it's instance of windows anyway) and the time taken to move everything to a new machine. But he's back up and running and has some good works in progress at this time. Rich has been busy fighting pigs again! The pig physics (which is a technical term) in the game are causing us somewhat of a headache because we want to achieve quite a lot with what, at first, appears to be a simple concept. It's fundamental to a lot of the puzzle side of the game so it needs to work as near to perfectly. Once we have this sorted we can get the rest of the demo together and everyone can try out the new features. In the meantime, please enjoy this new Pig development video! Don't forget to ask your friends to wish list! We check daily (even though we shouldn't)…
- Welcome to Pan Meals Galactic - 24 June 2020
We're gearing up for the next demo, which should be with us within the next week or so. Last week we had a great session at the Steam Games Festival with some brilliant questions. Thanks for joining in! Let's re-answer some of those questions here: 1. Why the move to 2D? This was motivated by a number of issues: While the projection was 3D for SF1, the gameplay took place on a 2D plane. There's a lot of additional puzzle and action elements we can achieve in 2D Very few of the mechanics couldn't be ported over to 2D We have a great 2D artist who did the original Space Farmers 1 poster working with us 2. Will the Pig Return? Yes! The pig will definitely return. Check out previous update for more information on that. 3. Will there be challenge rooms like the end of a SF1 run? Absolutely, but we want to take this even further. I don't want to spoil it too much but we expect to have an anno…
- Development Update #2 - Pig - 11 June 2020
Lately it's been about Pig. If you're a fan of Space Farmers 1 then you'll know that the pig was one of the primary mechanics we used. The pig is tough! The pig can block laser beams! The pig can block explosions! The pig can sit on buttons! All that is true in Space Farmers 2, but here are some new things you can do with pigs! The pig can be THROWN The pig can be Jumped on The pig...needed a lot of work! But don't take my word for it, let's let the pig do the talking. It's video time! Also we're doing a live stream of the game next Thursday, 18th June at 8PM BST here on Steam! See you then!
- Space Farmers 2 Live Stream and Chat - 9 June 2020
RESCHEDULED! The Great Leek Frowns at you. "Where is your pig?" He mutters with disapproval. "Well, in any case, you'd better show up to the festival." We're part of the Steam Game Festival! The Bumpkin Brothers will be holding a live chat about Space Farmers 2 during the Steam Games Festival! Our rough agenda for this live stream is as follows: A Live-stream of the demo whilst we discuss elements of the game we have so far. A discussion about future developments and what direction we're taking the game in A chat with YOU about what you think of the game so far and what ideas you have! Hoping to see you then! Tell your friends, we want to involve everyone as much as possible.
- Development Update #1 - The Refactor Tractor! - 28 May 2020
Starting the Refactor Tractor. Getting to a demo was actually a big feat for us. We had a lot of things we needed to cut (very slight) corners on. Therefore we're taking our first week or so afterwards to focus on a big cleanup operation. That means starting up the Refactor Tractor again. The project needed a bit of a spring clean and a few quality of life features added in there. And now I'm going to talk about a couple of them here... Pushy Doors The "doors" in the demo are dangers electric obstacles rather than actual physical doors. But we do have some proper doors in the works. The problem is they...didn't quite work. If a player was stood on one it would give them a little surprise. Whoops. So we needed to add a check to the door to make sure the player doesn't have a moment like that. Here's the fix in action Might non closing doors become a puzzle mechanic? Hint hint?! Button Sy…
- Steam Page Launch and Demo! - 20 May 2020
The Space Farmers 2 steam page & Demo are now active! I decided now would be a good time to tell you our future plans. The Demo is now available So, now you've played the demo- wait, you've not played it yet? What are you waiting for, please, go get it! Try it out! We've taken a different approach this time around with the development. We're letting you in at the ground floor. We're hiding nothing, you get to see this game being made from the start! Our aim is to release an updated demo as often as possible. This is so that we can get as much feedback as possible. The idea will be to have a standard "hey, this is the essence of Space Farmers" type level. Then additionally a level where we show some of the other things we're currently working on so you can let us know if you think it's cool or not. The Development Plan Rich is hard at work making continuous improvements to the demo at th…
