But I am back, and with nothing but good news! ːsteamhappyː I've tinkered for quite some time to update The Fabled Woods from Unreal Engine 4 - with which it was released with initially - to the current version of Unreal Engine 5! Dear explorers, Today, May 14th, 2021 the price of The Fabled Woods will change to $9.99. I wanted to make a post explaining why this is happening and what I’m doing. One of the largest pieces of feedback I’ve received is that the game simply costs too much. I want everyone to know, I am listening and implementing feedback as fast as I can. So why did this decision take until now to happen? When there is a bug in the game and it’s reported, I can open up Unreal Engine 4 and start working on it immediately. This is not the same for pricing however. Changing the price on a game is not something that either store takes lightly, and neither do I. There are many who may ask “I bought the game at $16.99. I want my refund!”. Unfortunately, Steam does not let us give refunds like that. If you are angered by this decision and feel that I have in any way done wrong by you, I completely understand…

Greetings, explorer! When I started to work on The Fabled Woods I had a bunch of main intentions: I wanted to tell players a deep and interesting short story, that can be experienced in one evening. The best immersion can be created when you are not removed from the game, right? And I wanted to create the best-looking forest that I could as a single indie developer. The Unreal Engine is a very powerful tool for this and helped immensely in the progress of Ray Tracing. Over time (with support from Nicolas, Pumpkin Jack developer) the forest became a truly fabled place. At about a year into development, my path crossed with Nvidia. Hello! I'm Joe, the creator of The Fabled Woods. I am a solo developer, I have been working on this game since January of 2019. I've been developing games for about 10 years now as a hobby and been playing them even longer. For quite some time I had the idea for a dark and mysterious narrative short story in my mind - and the result is what you see here on the Steam page.
