- Stability Patch! (v1.0.15) - 22 March 2026
Egg Collectors!Time flies! I've kept on iterating and improving on smaller things that have come up during the port to Nintendo Switch. I'd say the biggest thing is hopefully fixing the Nugget levels which has been the bane of my existence!Biggest FixesNugget should hopefully no longer be able to eventually walk off the levels when playing on lower end devices.Player can no longer "buk buk" when dying.Players can no longer glitch through a specific edge in Pinecone Village.Pressing "enter level" when standing next to a book and having the game paused should no longer take you to that level.Standing on moving platforms could sometimes cause small stutter on the camera when playing on low end devices.Made sure some enemies no longer play their sounds if they are chasing the player and game is paused.Barrel cannon enemy will no longer try to attack the player when the player has died.UI sh…

- Korean language added + minor fixes (v1.0.10) - 3 October 2025
Hello everyone!"Wow another update so fast?" Yeah I'm surprised myself, wasn't planning on dropping it now but Unity announced this morning that more or less everyone had to update their games. Not going to dive into boring details but here we are. Some things I found while working on the last parts of the Switch port is now coming into the game on Steam.Changes / FixesAdded Korean language!Viewing settings in other languages should now look better (keeping it all on the same row if the words are too long)Fixed a ground piece that was in the wrong layer (probably not a risk of falling through but still)Fixed a rare bug when changing language and going back to the stats screen, "teleport to hub" prompt would sometimes not use the new language.Smaller bugs that occurred when resetting settings to default. When deleting a save, the controller would vibrate on the highest setting for 1 second…
- Remix Level Fixes! (Patch v1.0.9) - 21 September 2025
Hello everyone!Funny story but.. I think last patch introduced some issues in the Remix / Challenge levels at the end of the game. If you want the inside scoop, some of the optimization for the Nintendo Switch version got through and wasn't fully stable on the Steam version so it threw some errors which caused some players to not being able to finish those levels. That should be fixed now and in general work better (fingers crossed).IN OTHER NEWS, my company WhyKev turns 6 years old on the 27th of September. There's always room in the comment section if you want to say congrats down below!Now.. back to porting this game, I appreciate that some of you have kept asking for console versions!Take care,Kevin
- New Artwork! (Patch v1.0.8) - 15 August 2025
Hello Egg Collectors!I hope your summer break have been great! I've managed to find time to update some smaller issues and continued the port for the Nintendo Switch version (are we allowed to talk about that stuff here?).Either way, for the upcoming console release and future of PaperKlay I wanted to make sure the artwork reflected the tone of the game (for context, the previous artwork was made after working on the game for 5 months, and the full release took almost 3.5 years so the game changed in tone a bit in that time).Patch Notes:Floor is lava puzzle should now be more stable when on low framerate.Fixed small visual issue in last Nugget level.Cogs on the side of the screen in pause menu are now hidden when not able to be used to avoid confusion.Secret door in Wool Tower now have collision... forcing you to actually solve the secret.Changed a platform sequence in the third remix l…

- Steam Deck Verified! Patch 7 - 10 July 2025
Boom! I was waiting for this part. Had to wait a bit with "regular patches" when fixing some last stuff with this patch to get the game verified on Steam Deck. While I'm still trying to "take vacation" for a bit, I do fix some smaller things from time to time. I also want to say hi to all new players who bought the game during the summer sale! I hope you have fun with PaperKlay!Nintendo Switch version is still being worked on but no news yet, just that it's coming along./ Kevin

Let's dive into them right away!Patch NotesCutscenes should properly adjust the volumes based on audio settings.Current button amount is visible in the outfits and badges tab in the pause screenOutfit sprites added to the outfit tabAddressed a small issue where sprint particles could still be playing during cutscenes. When standing by a book and you don't have enough orbs, they'll shake and change color for further communication to the player that they don't have enough orbs.Using Alt + Tab should not swap to keyboard input while playing with a controller. If no major issues are coming up, I will probably focus on console version and vacation for a while. Have a fun adventure everyone!- Kevin
- Patch 5 (v1.0.5) - 7 June 2025

- Camera Improvements (Patch v1.0.4) - 3 June 2025
Hello again everyone! TLDR; Camera now behaves more as expected when it comes too close to a wall. Sorry for these intense patches rolling in so frequently. In a perfect world I'd like to make one big and then breathe out but I think it's important to focus on one thing and get that live. There are new people playing all the time and if one small thing stop them from having a bad time due to technical issues then it's worth it to have these smaller patches. But with this one I think "the worst is over". Since release I have increased the movement speed, added a sprint, fixed the wall clipping with the player and now improved how the camera acts as well. Sometimes it would also go through the wall. I'm sure in time I'll tweak some small things but players should have a better experience overall. Patch Notes Camera avoiding walls is now improved Collision fixes in Snow Remix level About 6…
- Collision Improvements (Patch v1.0.3) - 2 June 2025
Hello everyone! I'm so glad to hear that many of you appreciate the patch yesterday that improved speed and added a sprint. So far nothing seems to be broken with this increased speed (fingers crossed). Some of you have noticed that you could clip through walls, I believe I have a fix for that. I personally couldn't recreate it on my PC or my Steam Deck. I don't have the confidence to say that it's perfect now, but I do believe that a casual player wouldn't find in a normal playthrough. Patch Notes Wall detection should be improved to prevent player clipping through walls. Improved and fixed bugs in the pause menu when using a keyboard Small fix for rotating platforms in Goldfish Hills that slipped through in last patch Again, thank you so much for your patience and civilized tone in the communication. I appreciate it a lot! - Kevin
- Added sprint and faster movement! - 1 June 2025
Important Update I hear you, some of you feel that Chick is moving too slow. Even though there are ways to move faster than normal running I'd still want to find a balance that works for the majority of players and not breaks the game. I've increased the running speed and added a sprint feature. It's the same one as you pick up stuff with, will only work when you're not carrying anything and are on the ground. I appreciate you guys being patient with me as I update the game. PaperKlay is very special to me and the last thing I want is for players to have a negative experience because of technical issues. Patch Notes Increased movement speed + added a sprint functionality Fixed some collision issues across the game (mostly missing in some areas) Vibration now properly adjusts based on your settings Added delay before the confirmation button can be pressed when deleting a save file Some s…
- Patch 1.0.1 - 29 May 2025
Hello everyone! Here comes the first proper patch after the release of the game. I've really enjoyed seeing you guys have fun and sharing stories how you stayed up late to finish the game or how you've played with your kids. It really makes this whole thing feel special! Here's a list of the things I've fixed. Patch 1.0.1 Increased throw force when not tossing towards a target Coins from boxes now fly to you after a short while, will prevent some rare issues with coins ending up inside walls. Nugget ground check improved, a rare scenario where nugget could fall between the smallest gap between platforms. Dying after defeating the boss in Goldfish Hills would result in boss restarting without the boss. Fixed a small typo in the last level. Walking to the back of the skull face in Skull Island level will no longer unload the inside of the skull. Small text issues when using Japanese or Ch…
- PaperKlay Release Date! - 24 May 2025
The time has finally come! PaperKlay launches on May 27th! And if you're reading this for the first time then it's only a few days away for you! I've launched a new trailer which you can see here! I hope you're excited for this adventure! See you on Tuesday for the launch! - Kevin
- New platformer Paperklay is a little bit Banjo, a little bit LittleBigPlanet - 8 May 2025
3D platformer Paperklay has perhaps the least appealing protagonists I've seen in a game recently. I hate avian buddy duo "Chick & Nugget" and all their works, beginning with the ghastly 3am pun that appears to have spawned them. Look at that ampersand, dangling in the middle like a chunk of gristle. What an absolute crime against typography. And chickens. And platform game levels made of paper and card - you'd never put an actual chicken nugget on dioramas like these, the grease would ruin it. I also mistrust Chick's beady black eyes, and I can't abide the fact that Nugget is wearing a fragment of eggshell for pants. That's like a human child using a placenta as a necktie! Argh! Read more
- Steam Next Fest Demo - 28 February 2025
New demo? yeah this might sound strange for those that have been following for a few years. But this new updated demo is the closest representation of how the full game will work. It contains the intro for the game, setting up the story and then you'll get to explore a hub area where you can talk with character and help them out. Then the "old" demo level is also playable for you to get a sense of the flow between hubs and linear levels. I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to those who've supported me this far and shared your feedback on the demo. If you haven't played the updated version, then the weekend is the perfect time to dive in this world! /Kevin
- 3 Years of Progress [Devlog] - 23 January 2025
Hey! Crazy to think it's been 3 years now. I've been quite bad at updating the steam community here, to be honest I've been quite bad at updating overall. Things are good now but last year was a bit rough. I've made a devlog if you guys are interested in seeing some new stuff. In short, the game is progressing really well. I'm wrapping up parts of the game and I've got a good feeling about all of this. Here is the video: Thank you so much for supporting PaperKlay in any way you're doing! // Kevin
- NEW DEMO + OTK Expo Showcase Feature! - 4 June 2024
Hi everyone! I'm so sorry it's been a while since I updated you guys here but I come with great news! PaperKlay will be released in Q2 2025, this will give me time enough to make sure it's a fantastic adventure! A new updated Demo is now live for you to download and test out, let me know what you think. I'm very proud of where PaperKlay is and how it feels. As this announcement goes live, PaperKlay is being featured in the OTK Expo Showcase which might be the biggest thing PaperKlay will experience before release, at least when it comes to amount of eyes on the game. Something I almost forgot to mention, the main theme of PaperKlay is created with a collaboration between Steven Melin and Grant Kirkhope (who did the soundtrack for Banjo-Kazooie, Goldeneye, Mario + Rabbids and much more). So when you play the demo, give it a listen in the main menu! Until next time, Kevin
