- Legends Before the Storm: A Storm on the Seven Seas - 28 July 2026
It was a windy day on the Seven Seas and the water was restless. Amara Machado, with mandate from the Admiral himself, set out with a whole fleet of ships to deliver several punishing attacks on local harbors tipped for pirate activity. Many were killed, many more captured to be hanged later. Thanks to a timely tip from one of the locals, a raid on a shabby old pirate tavern proved to be especially fruitful. Many well-known pirates were captured in one fell swoop, almost as if providence itself had brought them into the pirate hunter’s grasp. The ambitious captain of the Crown, driven to prove her worth to her father. A prison galleon, and in her guts, a quintet of unlikely acquaintances: Teach, the old, disgruntled legend. Hungover, but hungry for power and domination. Scarlet, the wildcat full of vinegar, yearning for glory. Kanja, the cunning spice lord, penniless and ready for one l…
- Corsair Cove (PC) Review - 28 July 2026
I like city-builders as much as the next guy, with options like Cities: Skylines II , Once Human , New World: Aeternum , and more, ready at any moment. None of them scratched a particular pirate-y itch, though, so I was always left wanting. Corsair Cove aims to change that by combining city-building, supply chain management, and strategy into a single game. Plundering has never been more fun. Limbic Entertainment ( Park Beyond ) are very good at what they do: strategy and world-building. Make no mistake, however, Corsair Cove is not a walk in the park, even for those familiar with the genre. We start off by “discovering” a small island to call the home base, and you build your town around that by placing a ‘camp’ down initially. Every building that you subsequently put down needs to be within range of the initial camp building. Thankfully, the area in question is highlighted in green or…
- Legends Before the Storm: Amara, the Pirate Hunter - 21 July 2026
At first glance, Amara Machado was the ideal. Wearing the Crown's perfectly fit uniform, her gaze stern and focused. The daughter of the feared admiral Fernando Machado was primed for a long and successful career. When Amara was a child, her mother was killed in a pirate attack on a ship her father captained for the Crown. The heartbroken admiral raised his daughter the only way he knew, as a son. Amara underwent rigorous military training and showed great dedication to her father and the Admiralty. However, her father's increasing brutality against any resistance in the Seven Seas did not exactly sit well with her. While she is no friend of pirates, she was too young when her mother died to share her father's burning hatred for them. To her, hunting pirates had to be done to keep the Crown's peace. Recently, Amara was ordered to find and execute a crew of buccaneers who escaped the Blo…
- Legends Before the Storm: Rambullion, the Tavernkeep - 14 July 2026
Once he was known as Tadhg MacMhuircheartaich, a name so hard to pronounce that when it came time to abandon his dreams and go into hiding, he called himself Rambullion instead. Once, he was young and ambitious and so full of vicious pirate vigor, he could have ripped a Crown galleon in two with his bare hands. Back then, the world was his for the taking, a feast of loot and adventure, the Seven Seas his chest to plunder. Rambullion had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. When the first pang of age tickled his bones, he joined other mighty pirates in a grand dream: a haven where all were equal and free, built on stolen coin and honest work. A pirate’s paradise. The dream was short lived, however. The Crown came to take what they said was theirs by right. Rambullion fought alongside the greats, the Averies and O’Malley’s, even Blackbeard, the arrogant bastard. In the…
- Legends Before the Storm: Teach, the Brute - 7 July 2026
Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, was the last of the old guard. Those around him have fallen victim to the Crown, pirate hunters, or even their own crews. He had survived through sheer brutality, vigilance, and force of will. Teach was not the monster depicted in horror stories (although he himself had cultivated that reputation). Once, he had been a mentor to his men, an ally to his friends, a man who believed in honor among thieves. But years of betrayal, battles and the endless fight for survival in the shadow of the Crown eroded the man he’d once been. Teach lost all faith in the idea of pirates sailing under a unified flag. He came to believe that pirates instead needed a King, ruling them with an iron fist. Better to reign in Hell… He became a cynical brute, terrorizing, looting, and drinking his days away. His old discipline faltered, replaced by indulgence and recklessn…
- Legends Before the Storm: Kanja, the Gambler - 30 June 2026
Born in Calcutta, Kanja Shan was a wealthy spice merchant enjoying a life in luxury. Unfortunately, his lavish lifestyle, coupled with his natural greed, would eventually cost him everything. Kanja’s business acumen propelled him to the highest ranks of the spice-trading circles. In a world where spices could make a cunning merchant rich, he always wanted more. Whoever controlled the spice controlled the world! Kanja sponsored and armed pirate crews, sending them after rival spice merchants. The high-risk high-reward game stirred something powerful within him. It was exhilarating. But it came as no surprise that Kanja’s ravenous ambition put him at odds with some powerful people. The Golden Chain, a league of resourceful smugglers, wanted him caught and quartered for stealing vast amounts of their saffron. Kanja’s wealth also attracted the attention of his most dangerous adversary: the…
- Legends Before the Storm: Scarlet, the Fearless - 23 June 2026
One day, they would write songs about them. That’s what she would tell her crew every time they celebrated another daring adventure. Unlike many pirates, this wild captain wasn’t in it for rum or coin. Scarlet Drake had made fame and notoriety her purpose. She would be remembered as a pirate legend. It wasn’t always like that. Scarlet grew up a poor orphan in Ireland. One day, she stowed away aboard a merchant ship bound for the Americas—a new life. En route, the ship was attacked by pirates under captain “Old Hob” O’Malley, and the crew was slaughtered to the man. After blood and smoke had settled, Old Hob discovered the girl, who was hiding amongst the cargo, pointing a kitchen knife at him in defiance. He immediately recognized the fire in her eyes and decided to take her under his wing. Under Old Hob’s tutelage, Scarlet grew into a fine pirate with a sharp mind and an even sharper b…
- Legends Before the Storm: Honorata, the Adventurer - 16 June 2026
How did the daughter of a wealthy merchant become a pirate chasing the Seven Seas' most ferocious beasts? Well, it’s a long story! Honorata Van Horn was born into a rich family. Raised among four brothers, she was never meant to conquer the seas. Her mother, who’d secretly become the matriarch of the Van Horn trading company, had a different future for her in mind: to help run the family business. But Honorata had the spark of rebellion in her. What she read in old books after dark made her crave nothing more than a life of adventure. She started going out, mingling with sailors and captains, and eventually learned how to navigate and command a ship. Rejecting her family’s plans for her future, Honorata stole a company ship and sailed away to new horizons. Honorata was not a pirate in the traditional sense; truth was, she’d never held pirates in high regard. But travelling the seas and…
