- Jury Trial 2025 Development Retrospective - 31 December 2025
Greetings Counselors, As the year comes to a close, we wanted to take a step back and reflect on the past months of development on Jury Trial. We felt this was a good moment to look back at what has been introduced, tested, and refined so far. Since releasing our initial test case, The People vs. Kareem Estumo, development has largely focused on two parallel goals. First, incorporating the valuable feedback we received from players. Second, continuing to build out missing core systems and expanding the tools available for creating deeper and more reactive cases. So let’s take a look at some of the most notable additions and changes from the past months, some of which have already made their way into the test build, and some that give a glimpse at what is still to come.Save System One of the most requested quality of life improvements was the ability to save and load during longer courtr…
- Small Game Update: v0.0.6-alpha and Test Build Release on Itch.io - 18 September 2025
Greetings Counselor,Since our last update, a lot has been happening behind the scenes. While most of our work has focused on mechanics, systems, and the game's campaign that go beyond this test build, we would also like to give more players a chance to experience the game early. Therefore starting today, the test build is now available on Itch.io as well.Players can now choose to download the test build directly from Itch.io or continue playing through Steam by requesting a key via our Discord. In our previous post, we mentioned that the test build would be coming to an end, but given the steady flow of new players interested in trying it out, we’ve decided to keep it available for now. With the Itch.io release, we’ve also updated the test build with some quality-of-life changes and a few new select mechanics. As mentioned before, most of our recent work has been under the hood and is th…
- Game Update: v0.0.5-alpha Change Log - 29 March 2025
Greetings Counsel, Today, alpha version 0.0.5 has been released. While the changes in this build may seem minor, their impact on the game is quite significant. Since the last update, we have been working on the save system, and we’re happy to announce that it is now possible to save the game during a court session or meeting. The new ‘Recess’ option in the HUD allows you to request a quick break during court days or meetings. When the timing is appropriate and the judge grants permission, the recess feature takes you back to the case folder. Here, you can review materials if needed, but more importantly, you can now save and load the game mid-scene. This ensures that you can save, load, exit, and resume the game at any time without worrying about losing progress. Implementing this feature required extensive modifications to multiple scenes and systems, but we believe it was time well sp…

- Game Update: v0.0.3-alpha Change Log - 18 December 2024
Greetings, Counselor, Today, alpha build 0.0.3 has been released! Besides some quality-of-life improvements and smaller adjustments, this update mainly focuses on changes to the jury questioning process and the introduction of an automatic transcript feature. Improvements and Fixes Jury Questioning Jury questioning is no longer limited to four mandatory days where the player must question five potential jurors each day. Players can now schedule the questioning of jurors in the same manner as scheduling a meeting. This gives players complete freedom to decide when and how many potential jurors they wish to question. A questioning session can be scheduled anytime between the Pre-Trial Conference and the Jury Selection date. If the player schedules more than one potential juror for a single day, they will return to the case folder after each questioning session, allowing them to save in be…
- Test Phase I Nears Conclusion - 1 October 2024
Greetings Counselor, It’s been nearly a month since we launched our first test phase, and we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who applied as testers and provided invaluable feedback. The insights we've gathered, from positive feedback, player data like playtime that Steam provides, and the suggestions you've shared, make it clear that the concept of the game is resonating well with the community. We’ve already addressed some of the key points raised during testing, as noted in our latest Change Log, and we’ll continue to do so, particularly with the ongoing update to the Jury Questioning process. This being the first time we’ve presented Jury Trial to a wider audience, it’s really encouraging to see how many of you are passionate about a game like this. For those who haven’t had a chance to try the Alpha build yet, be sure to apply on Discord by Monday, 7th of October 2024, as te…
- Game Update: v0.0.2-alpha Change Log - 27 September 2024
Greetings Counsel, Based on the feedback from the current test, we've released a small update that includes fixes, improvements, and several requested features. Please note that not all changes will apply to your existing save game and may require starting a new game. New Features: Added an indicator on the Office Tab to highlight unread messages in the inbox. Unread messages in the inbox now appear in bold until they are read. Players can now skip the juror walk-in sequence during trial days (opening statements, closing arguments, witness hearings, and verdict). Tooltips have been updated to display the person's name, role, and all associated traits. The defendant is now included in Jury Selection, making it easier to review their traits. A save confirmation prompt has been added to prevent accidental saving due to misclicks. Improvements and Fixes: Increased the likelihood that a juro…
- Applications for the First Alpha Test Phase are open - 6 September 2024
Greetings Counselor, The first test phase is approaching, and instead of describing gameplay features or what we have introduced over the last few weeks, in today’s post, we would like to invite you to apply for a spot in our upcoming test. For this, we have prepared a case starting from the Pre-Trial phase, including Jury Questioning & Selection, until the verdict. While not every mechanic is unlocked for this test, the case features a wide variety of systems we would like to gather feedback on. The case puts you in the position of a defense attorney whose client is facing severe criminal charges. Although the case does not, for test purposes, explore every possible angle and likely witness, it offers a considerable amount of story and playtime well above the usual duration of a test or demo. If this piqued your interest and you’re wondering how you can secure a spot as a tester, look…
- Crafting a Case: Behind the Scenes of Jury Trial - 21 December 2023
Now that the first testing phase is approaching, we thought it was a good time to give you all a look behind the scenes, providing insight into how a case in a Jury Trial can be constructed. We use the term 'can be made' because, as you will see, the Case Editor does not impose a specific structure; instead, it provides broad boundaries within which you can work. While we won't delve into every detail of what the Case Creator has to offer today, our goal is to provide you with a comprehensive overview of its possibilities. This information will serve as a solid foundation for those interested in testing the game, offering insights into how the game functions behind the scenes. It's important to note that the Case Editor is still in development and won't be available in the upcoming testing phase. The Editor will undergo its testing phase separately, and as a result, it is currently in a…
- Development Update - The Jury Questioning - 4 June 2023
Greetings Counselors, It has been a while since our last update, and if you haven't joined our Discord server yet, you're probably wondering what we have been up to. I can assure you that we have been very busy. In addition to working on various tasks, our main focus has been creating the content for the Jury Questioning, which is the topic of today's post. Before we delve into the specifics, let's recap what the Jury Questioning is all about. The Jury Questioning spans four days, during which you will meet up to five potential jurors each day. The goal is to find jurors who align with your client and increase your chances of achieving the desired verdict. You have the opportunity to question each juror once, gaining insight into their opinions, beliefs, and defining traits. Each juror possesses a political affiliation (ranging from extreme left to extreme right), a level of education (…
- Development update & well wishes! - 31 December 2022
Greetings Counselors, Today we would like to give you a quick update on what we have been up to since our last post but most of all wish you a happy new year, especially success, happiness and health in 2023! Over the past year Jury Trial has grown so much that we’re nearly feature complete. Beside working on sound and Steam integration, we’ll now enter a phase of polishing and adding additional motions, event chains and other items to enrich the cases. Our workload will shift from mechanics and systems to content production. As you might know, we’ve orientated the development process along the flow of the game. We’ve started with the prerequisites followed by the Pre-Trial and Trial Phase. At the end of our last post, we announced the beginning of the verdict phase which is about to be completed. If you missed the last updates or like to revisit them, here’s and here’s the link. Just l…
- State of the Game - 31 August 2022
Greetings Counselors, Today we would like to give you a quick update on what we have been up to since our last post and what is up next on our agenda. But before we start, a quick reminder and a link to our discord server. Not every aspect of game development is newsworthy and fits a Steam Announcement, so If you’re interested in more frequent updates or want to have a chat, feel free to click on the banner below to join the server. As you might know we split the development in phases according to the flow of the game. We started with all the prerequisites like the core mechanics and the GUI. Once that was done we moved along the flow and started with the Pre-Trial Phase. If you missed our last update here’s a link. Up next was the Trial Phase and we’re happy to report that its development is coming to an end. Just like last time, we can’t explain every mechanic and system in detail wit…
- State of the Game - 31 March 2022
Greetings Counselor, Q1 has flown by and it has been an incredibly busy one. There is no precise release date as of now but a lot has been introduced into the game over the past weeks and today we’d like to give you a peek behind the scenes. While explaining every mechanic & system in detail, which we will do in due time, would go beyond the scope of this post, today we would like to give you an overview of what is already implemented and also utilizable in the Case Editor: name the case, court and court district and much more write numerous descriptions for storytelling purposes create a short introduction sequence for the case choose between criminal or civil case pick from multiple courtrooms determine the date for the starting point, the pre-trial conference and the jury questioning including alternative dates if the trial gets delayed create every involved npc from scratch: name, s…
- Happy New Year from Loge Games! - 1 January 2022
Greetings Counselor, We would like to wish you a happy new year! May the New Year bring you and your family happiness, peace, and most of all health! While it sadly wasn’t feasible for us to release Jury Trial last year, we would like to thank you for your support and encouragement throughout 2021. As a team of only two, who try to realize a passion project in their free time without a budget, your interest, ideas and well wishes really helped us along the way. Over the last year we put nearly every free minute we had into the game and we’re now at a point where we put all the systems, mechanics and features together into the Case Editor. The ingame Case Editor is the main tool for us and in the end for you as well, to create what it’s all about: Trials in the court of law in front of a (hopefully) sympathetic jury. Once we’re done with the Editor we’ll be finally able to give you more…
