- Two by One is out of Early Access - 26 July 2021
Two by One version 1.0 has been released! With this update the game is feature complete and is leaving Early Access. Furthermore, we are having our biggest discount yet (50%) to celebrate it. (Edit: There's been an issue and the current steam discount is only 15%. We are working to solve it and set it to the intended 50% value) Updates Reorganized the order of stages in order to provide a smoother difficulty curve Added 13 stages and a new boss. These stages are significantly easier than the ones before and meant to introduce new players to the game in a smoother way. We want to thank everyone who has followed the development of this game and surmounted its challenges.
- Two by One is leaving Early Access soon! - 23 July 2021
Thanks to all your support and feedback, we can happily announce that Two by One will leave early access the 26th of July! With the patch released today, we've achieved the amount of content we were aiming for in order to leave early access. 13 new stages and a boss are now available in the game, aimed to smooth the difficulty curve for new players, plus a bunch of additional achievements. Levels has also been shuffled in order to improve the difficulty curve. We are releasing this build today in order to have be able to squash any bugs that appear before the 26th, so we would be extremely grateful if you reported any issues you find while enjoying the new levels. Once again, we'd like to thank everyone who has supported this project during these initial stages!

Updates The sound effects for the whole game have been enhanced. Sound balance still requires a few adjustments though, so please give us your feedback about this aspect of the game. Added stages 3-3 to 3-11. Changed order of previous stages in order to provide a smoother difficulty curve.

- Development Update 2021/2/13 - 13 February 2021
More stages with bullet-blocking walls this week Updates Added stages 2-10 and 2-11. Changed the achievement "Not many get to this point" from "Beat the first 25 stages" to "Beat 25 stages". This is because the order of stages will probably be shuffled in the future in order to smooth the difficulty curve.
- Development Update 2021/2/6 - 6 February 2021
This week's stages introduce walls that block both friendly and enemy bullets. Use them as cover to survive what you otherwise couldn't. Updates Added stages 2-8 and 2-9.
- Development Update 2021/2/1 - 1 February 2021
Updates Added stages 2-6 and 2-7.
- Development Update 2021/1/23 - 23 January 2021
Early update this week! Two new stages have been added, with variations on the patterns of the ones in the last update and more focused on dodging. Updates Added stages 2-4 and 2-5. In development More stages, music and health bars, as said in previous weeks.
- Development Update 2021/1/17 - 17 January 2021
This update brings two new stages and a tutorial level. Updates Added the first iteration of the tutorial level. A revision will happen later down the line, with detailed explanation of how to aim on focus fire with a gamepad. Added stages 2-2 and 2-3. Using focus fire with a gamepad for the first time in a run will set the cursor in the center of the screen, instead of where the mouse cursor is. Removed the second wave of enemies from 1-1 in order to make the stage easier In development We're currently working on more stages and music as said previously. Additionally, you can expect an option to see enemy health bars in a few updates, as the groundwork for it has been laid while developing the tutorial stage.
- Development Update 2021/1/3 - 3 January 2021
Happy new year everyone! We have a new stage to celebrate it! Updates Added the level selection screen for the next set of stages. And since it'd be kind of silly to have a level selection screen without levels to select, we have a new stage to accompany it, click 2-1 to try it. Fireworks themed, to fit the season. The text of the restart indication on death has been adjusted so it doesn't overlap with the inner walls of diamond shaped stages. In development The tutorial stage was pushed back in order to have a regular level to accompany the new level select screen, but it is still in the works. You can probably expect another stage or two before it gets implemented. We've also released the new stage without new music. While we'd have liked like to have a new track for the new set, it'd have delayed the stage by two weeks at the very least. Thus we decided to prioritize adding new playa…
- Development Update 2020/12/27 - 27 December 2020
Hello everyone, hope you had a merry Christmas, and may you have a happy new year. This week's we talk about Steam Remote Play Together and show a bit of UI in the works. Updates Steam's Remote Play Together has been enabled. Please keep in mind that due to limitations of the system, one of the players at least must be using a gamepad. Next week So the UI to select the next set of levels is mostly done. Take a look at it! The only things left to implement are the transition animations and giving the proper names to each button. After that, just as we said last week, a tutorial stage is coming in order to properly introduce new players to the basics of the game, and following that, new music for the new set of stages. Once all that's done, you can expect new stages coming at a regular pace.
- Development Update 2020/12/20 - 20 December 2020
This week's update is about cloud saves, achievements and ports. Updates There's been two small updates this week Wednesday's update added Steam cloud saves to the game Sunday's update implemented achievements into the game. The first three are granted for beating a stage, all the regular stages available and the boss stage. Sunday's update also included a fix to a bug where the stage 1-5 wouldn't finish properly Mac and Linux A good part of the week has been spent looking into the viability of porting the game into Mac and Linux, and unfortunately we have to announce that these ports won't happen until the game leaves Early Access. While we managed to get working versions of the game for Mac and Linux with only minor bugs, the process of testing two extra platforms would greatly increase the load of work required to release a new patch. One of the biggest benefits of early access is be…
- Two by One - Early Access release and plans for the future - 13 December 2020
Welcome to Two by One. It's been a long road to get to this point - and yet a longer road remains ahead. Now, let me give you a peek of what lies in the future. For this December, the plan is mostly small updates to ensure the game runs smoothly and bug-free and completing the implementation of Steamworks features such as achievements and cloud saves. Coming January, we intend to start adding non-boss stages at a weekly pace. It's likely that the first ones added will serve as a tutorial, since playtesting of the current version has shown that some mechanics like focus fire can be missed by new players, and also that the game could really do with some easier stages to start out. We also plan to look into native Mac and Linux support - can't give any dates, but unless it proves too problematic, it should be one of the first features to come out. But of course, all of this is subject to c…
