- Big Bugfix Patch - 30 July 2026
Hello again Burglars, it's been a while. I had to take some time away from development again following the museum update, but I'm back and working with a new developer to fix some of the game's biggest bugs. One of the big changes in this update is the vents revamp. Vents were really annoying to use before, with tools disappearing, players falling through them, and just general clunkiness. The old vents have been completely replaced with new, larger vents which let you crouch-walk through them instead of forcing you to climb. That means it's much easier to get into vents, and navigate around them, and they don't cause so many glitches. There may be some new, fun issues with them so let me know if you find any. They will be much easier to fix now. Save file deletion, missions double loading, and nonVR physics explosions should also now all be fixed. The full list of fixes is below, so if…
- Museum Madness and Train Heist Hijinks! - 23 October 2025
The first post-launch update for the Break-In is now live! It features some long awaited levels and items, so I hope you enjoy playing. I'm delighted that I can continue working on the game and bringing new updates. Here's a breakdown of what's included!Museum LevelI want to preface this by saying that I started working on this level a while ago, and it was not inspired by the Louvre heist which happened a few days ago. Although the coincidence is understandable suspicious. The museum features 4 different exhibits, ranging from ancient history to natural history, and capped off by the enormous T-Rex skeleton in the center! It is, of course, stealable, but it's a big challenge to any burglary squad. The museum also contains a vault full of relics, but it's very well guarded and there are alarms everywhere. Be careful!Train LevelThe wild west train heist is here! I don't know if you trave…

- The Break-In 1.0 Launch Update - 29 May 2025
After nearly two years of Early Access, the Break-In is finally launching for real. It's been a long road, and I want to thank everyone who has played the game during the Early Access period, especially those of you who have been making cool suggestions and reporting bugs in the discord. You guys made this game possible! I have prepared a big update to celebrate the launch, and I hope you'll enjoy all of the new content. Here's a summary of what's been added. Playground Level Everyone likes a playground, so I made one for you. Please enjoy the monkey bars and slide, and don't investigate the map too much. There are no secrets hiding within, and definitely no cool items from old playtests to be found. (If you hear any rustling, large mechanical doors opening, or explosions coming from undergound, please ignore.) Perks and Classes I have also added the long-awaited perks and classes syste…

- Bugfixes and Quality of Life - 9 September 2024
We meet again. It's been a little while, but I am back with a new patch to fix some long-standing quality of life issues, as well as some bugs. I had to take some time away from development, but I am back working on the game again and getting ready for the next big content update which will finally add the perk system as well as some other new things. Thank you for your continued support, for now please enjoy the improvements made by this patch. They include gear items being placed on your toolbelt automatically at the start of the mission, easier KOs for nonVR players, and menu fixes and streamlines. For the full list of bugfixes and improvements, see below. As always, let me know if you see any frequent annoying bugs and I can try to get them fixed in the next patch. - Big Update 3 - Vaults and Vents and Other Stuff - 8 May 2024
Update 3 is now live! It includes a new level, 3 new gear items, 2 new getaways, new entry methods, and new security measures for you to avoid. As always, let me know what you think of the update in the comments, and tell me if you find any bugs! Bank Level People have been requesting a bank level since the game released in Early Access, and it's finally here with update 3. The main attraction is the large vault in the back, which has a double layer security system. The first pre-vault room is accessible through regular-style doors, although they're heavy barred doors which will be difficult to break down. The main vault area is behind a huge, unbreakable vault door which must be opened through a series of locks throughout the level. It's a tough task, but you'll be rewarded with gold, diamonds, cash, and priceless artworks if you can get inside. Vaults The bank vault is not the only on…

I have started work on the next content update now, and will be revealing the next new level on stream on the 24th. Check the discord for info on that. - New Year Patch 3 - 3 February 2024
This is a patch to the previous patch, to fix some of the issues with the new VR character system. Climbing should now be more robust and less likely to break in weird ways, and a potential height change bug has been fixed. Thank you for your patience with the changes despite the new bugs. The old system was quite outdated and lacking some features like leaning and proper animations, so it needed to be updated. Change log below: Fixed bug where jumping repeatedly while your head is touching a wall caused the player to get shorter Fixed bug with VR climbing where head could become detached from body and then teleport through a wall, causing the player to get stuck Made VR body torso stick out less when looking down Fixed VR players not being able to enter vault or through some windows Made VR body less wiggly Fixed body and head getting stuck on either side of a window when trying to cli…
- New Year Patch #2 - 30 January 2024
A new patch is live, which adds Steam Cloud saving support on PC, as well as some changes to the VR character system which should make things less janky. There are now proper movement animations for VR players' legs, and VR players can lean over objects in-game to better reach things. I am also experimenting with the IK system to make the toolbelt easier to see, so let me know if you like how it works in the current build. Climbing axes are now also easier to attach to walls, and I have fixed some previously un-stabbable walls and areas. Below is the full list of bugfixes. Implemented steam cloud saving Added new VR move animations Added ability for VR players to lean over objects to make it easier to reach stuff Made climbing axes easier to latch into walls, and fixed some unstabbable areas in missions Made VR toolbelt easier to see when looking down Changed cosmetics saving to be in t…
- New Year Patch - 19 January 2024
A new patch has been released to address some of the annoying bugs and balance issues highlighted by players over the Christmas period. Many new players found it difficult to progress, especially without stealing big ticket items like cars and residents. To reduce the grind, driver cuts have been reduced, with additional reductions when playing in multiplayer. There is also now a significantly increased bonus for stealing lots of items (10+), which increases exponentially and is capped at $35k per mission. I will be working on more bugfixes over the coming weeks, before starting work on Update 3. If you have any suggestions for the game, I’m active in the discord server linked below so post them there! For the full change log, see below: Reduced getaway driver cuts for all vehicles Further reduced cuts when in multiplayer based on number of players Renamed getaway danger fee to police c…
- Christmas Event - Deliver Presents, Earn Prizes! - 14 December 2023
The Christmas update is now live! For the next month, you’ll be able to complete special missions to deliver presents to unsuspecting residents. As you complete more missions, you’ll unlock limited edition Santa cosmetics, as well as a brand new sleigh getaway vehicle! The new mission type can appear on any mission (aside from the tutorial) and will require you to deliver a number of presents to the christmas tree located in the level. Santa would probably prefer if you didn’t bash the residents with a hammer, but he’s not watching. We’ll also be holding discord challenges to celebrate the holiday season, and give out some Expert Burglar roles, so stay tuned to hear the details soon! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and I look forward to working on the next big updates to the game for 2024!
- Update 2 Patch 3 - Distant sleigh bells - 13 December 2023
Another small patch to fix an issue with some players spawning either above or below the lobby when trying to join or leave multiplayer games. If you were having this issue before, let me know if it's resolved in this update. I've mostly been working on the Christmas update and event, which will be dropping soon. Fixed player spawning in multiplayer lobbies Fixed multiple swag bags being able to accept the same item, causing teleportation and general confusion

- Update 2 - Patch 1 - Physics strikes again - 7 December 2023
This patch contains some fixes for potential physics issues introduced in content update 2. These were caused by some physics optimisations I made to boost performance in VR. Do let me know if you notice any other physics weirdness, as there may be more unexpected consequences. If you're experiencing crashes or blackscreens in this update, post a log in the discord server. Fixed mis-spawning dresser in mansion entrance hall Fixed bookshelf in mansion just spaffing books everywhere Fixed lighting bug in mansion roof entry points Made mansion basement stairs longer so you don’t have to crouch to enter Fixed lighting and mesh combining issues in mall level Fixed left hand occasionally causing jitter when climbing Made items much less likely to drop from your hands to reduce risk of held items disappearing when moving them around quickly Fixed lobby glitching when joining a lobby which has…

Object highlighting now appears in Quest as well as PCVR. These changes should make the toolbelt much easier to use! VR Climbing Axes Upgrade Climbing ax…
