- Sonucido: Dreams of the Gray God announced! - 19 September 2026
Hey,Bring Back The Sun was the start of releasing games on Steam for me almost 6 years ago! I made games before but this was my first little jump on this platform as a dev.Over the years, I released a couple of games on Steam, and right now I'm working on a new game called Sonucido: Dreams of the Gray God - a sinister Dungeon Crawler RPG.The game has turn-based combat, and is party-based. If you like dark RPGs, this might the game for you!Key FeaturesConstant distress, lose everythingGripping turn-based combatMultiple endings, choices matterFight atrocities, become one
- 5 Year Anniversary Update! - 18 November 2025
Today, Bring Back The Sun is 5 years old. It was the first game I released on Steam and a major step for me. So much has happened since then, my life is wayyy different than it was back then. After the 1.3.3 update I started working on another little update for Bring Back The Sun but it was so insignificant that I never released it (the last two parts of the full changelog below are from back then). While working on Flufftopia: Fluffmazing Edition, I noticed that I was doing the saves extremely inefficient, so I decided it would be good to update all the games that used that system and since the fifth anniversary of Bring Back The Sun was coming up, I started there (although the Fight in the Arena update got first released). The performance improvements will be higher in my other games but nonetheless it's an improvement.I didn't plan to update Bring Back The Sun again, I mean the last up…
- Accessibility Update - 1.3.3 Version - 29 June 2022
Hey guys! I added a colourblind mode. All it does is changing the pale green tiles to a bright yellow and the red tiles to a bright blue, so they are more distinguishable. Also fixed a bug and made minor improvements to the code. Since I heard that some left-handed use the numpad for movement, I decided to add the option! Full Changelog - Colourblind mode which switches the explosive tiles to a light blue and the green tiles to a bright yellow - Added 8456 on the numpad for movement - Fixed a bug which related to the F7-Key - if the player was in dialogue and hit F7 he couldn't move - Fixed an error in the German localization - Improved the feeling of a particular rising tile - Other minor improvements (code, etc.)
- 1.3.2 - Tiny Fix - 23 December 2021
Fucked up. Fixed it. Full Changelog - For testing purposes I changed the availability of the winter challenge but didn't revert it (instead of 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th it was 16th, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th); this is fixed now
- Festive Hat - 1.3.1 Update! - 23 December 2021
Since it's getting cold outside I decided to give our protagonist a warm and festive hat for his adventure in the winter challenge. If you haven't played the winter challenge level yet, it's accessible from December 23 to December 27. I wish you all a merry christmas! Full Changelog - Added a festive hat to the winter challenge - Removed an unused part of the player which was performance test related - Minor improvements to one sprite
- One Year Anniversary! - 18 November 2021
Today is the first anniversary of Bring Back The Sun! The game was first released as a Right-Before-Release version a few weeks before as a Linux only game. After adding a Windows version, a few languages and more, the 1.0.0 version got a proper Steam release on the 18th November 2020. It was the first bigger game I worked on as a programmer. After releasing the 1.0.0 version, I updated the game quite often, added a special level which was only accessible around christmas, improved performance even more, reduced the filesize, fixed minor bugs and worked on quality of life improvements. To celebrate this anniversary, I worked on a new update which contains 3 new levels which are accessible after you've finished the game once! These levels are all harder than the average level in Bring Back The Sun and should be an interesting challenge after you've completed the game. I also added two ba…
- Minor Patch - Version 1.2.4 - 16 September 2021
I saw that I fucked up and didn't change the version number from 1.2.2 to 1.2.3 and had the urge to update the game. I'm still 100% focused on my upcoming game Sonucido: The Mage so this update isn't big but I still played a little and fixed a minor problem regarding the level design of one level. Sonucido: The Mage will be released December 2! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1535240/Sonucido_The_Mage__A_Dungeon_Crawler_by_Daniel_da_Silva/ Full Changelog - Made a minor change to the level design of one level - Changed the wording in the licence room
- 1.2.3 Update - Small improvements! - 24 June 2021
Hey everyone, just a small update for Bring Back The Sun. Even though I'm focussing on my next game Sonucido: The Mage, I try to get back to Bring Back The Sun every once in a while and Cyberpunk put out a 1.2.3 version (or 1.23 how they call it), so I needed to do my duty. Full Changelog - Reduced the number of leap-of-faith-jumps - Changed the wording of the German text in two instances - Improved the readability of the German text in one instance - Removed the version number of Godot in the credits
- 1.2.2 Version - Engine Update - 9 May 2021
Hey guys! I planned on upgrading the underlying Godot Engine from version 3.2.2 to 3.3 but alas this introduced new bugs. Instead I decided to upgrade to 3.2.3. For a while this will be the last update for Bring Back The Sun. After almost 6 months and 13 updates, the game is smaller, has even better performance, more languages, looks better, etc. Many of this stuff wouldn't have been possible if I wasn't working on Sonucido: The Mage - I learned quite a lot :) Thanks a lot to everyone who bought the game and everyone who bought the soundtrack! Full Changelog - Upgraded from Godot 3.2.2 to Godot 3.2.3 - Improved the readability in one instance in the English localization - Some minor code improvements which don't affect performance
- Soundtrack released + Quality of Life Update! - 12 April 2021
The soundtrack of Bring Back The Sun is launched, featuring eight tracks! All of the music was made by myself and could be categorized as Ambient Music. All of the tracks are available as 320 kb/s mp3s (high quality mp3s) or flac. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1596280/Bring_Back_The_Sun_Soundtrack/ I also took some time off from Sonucido: The Mage and worked on a little update for the game to improve it further! This mostly doesn't have impact on the gameplay but polishes the game further. The file-size was reduced over 10%! This was mostly due to changing the .wav files to .ogg files. It will be a tad heavier on the CPU but for people with abysmal internet speeds this is good news. This is one of my continuous efforts to make the game smaller and smaller. The 1.0 version was over 100 mb big (around 110), the 1.0.2 version reduced this to 63.8 mb - this fluctuated but overall grew…
- 1.2.0 Version - Looking into a sharp future! - 21 February 2021
Oh boy, this update got bigger than I initially planned. One day when I took a break from my new project (Sonucido: The Mage), I decided to improve the code in Bring Back The Sun a little bit and thought about putting some Quality of Life features into the game. This quickly turned into a much bigger update! I discovered that I had some settings wrong in the graphical department but could fix them fast and the game looks a lot sharper now, especially on higher resolution screens. Also, to improve the graphics even further, I designed a whole new tileset of broken tiles and put some of them here and there. I use them only a few times because I didn't want to change the core look of the game too much but I think these tiles are a good addition! This is by far the biggest update to the game yet and I let the changelog speak for itself! TL;DR Sharper graphics, more visual variety, Quality o…
- 1.2.0 Version coming this month - new game in the works! - 7 February 2021
The next update for Bring Back The Sun will be released this month! It will upgrade the game visually in subtle ways and improve the overall game quite a bit with quality of life changes and more. It was quite some work - what started as a code improvement session evolved quickly to the biggest update yet. I also started working on a new game called Sonucido: The Mage! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1535240/Sonucido_The_Mage_by_Daniel_da_Silva/
- My new game "Sonucido: The Mage" is now officially announced! :D - 1 February 2021
Hey everyone! If you like grid-based, turn-based Dungeon Crawler RPGs I have good news! My new game "Sonucido: The Mage" is now officially announced! Check it out!
- Version 1.1.1 - Change your appearance! - 5 January 2021
Happy new year everyone! The next update for Bring Back The Sun is available! Change your appearance! If you press i you change the appearance of the protagonist. - Ghost: Haunt the world semi transparent. - Shadow: All black everything. - Invisible: You are invisible! I took a small break from my next game and implemented this small feature just for fun :D Also, I did a lot of code cleanup and deleted some unnecessary files. This reduced the file size a negligible amount and should increase CPU performance on a theoretical level (woohooo another nanosec saved). Now, when you press F4 you can change the resolution of your window, though 2560 x 1440 and 576 x 324 are only available through the settings menu since I don't believe they are used commonly. I thought a bit about the price of the game in different currencies and increased the prices in a couple a little bit and decreased it in…
- Winter Update! Version 1.1.0 - 21 December 2020
Hey everyone, The 1.1.0 Update is ready! Christmas is approaching and since my head is sometimes overloaded from the increasing complexity of my next game, I decided to do a bit of work on Bring Back The Sun! I made a completely new level which differs a lot from the rest of the game, not only in terms of visuals (I designed a small new tileset) but also from the mechanic: It's an autorunner! If you know games like Canabalt, it's a bit like that but very simple. Since it differs a lot from the main game, I decided to make it only available on the 23th, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th of December every year but if you want to play it in the rest of the year, just change the date on your system time and it should work! Also, I added a new music track for the Gatekeeper level! In the testing phase this was intended to be the level before the last one and so I arranged the tiles a lot more differ…
- 1.0.8 - Quality of Life Update - 12 December 2020
This update is mostly a quality of life update! The startup annoyance has an end! Now, Bring Back The Sun starts in the center of your monitor as expected :D But there is more! The option to disable VSync was a long time in the files but I never made it accessible. I still think it's better to have VSync on as a default setting but now you have the option to turn it off. But beware: Your computer will get a lot hotter and will use a lot more energy. The upside to this is that this should reduce Input lag. And to show everyone how powerful your PC is, you can now see the FPS in-game with F3 (It will appear above the death counter). In previous versions, when you closed the game while being in the language selection screen (not the first time you see it but everytime after that) your changed sound settings weren't loaded immediately and the default value was used (although after you left…
- 1.0.7 - Portuguese available! Obrigado! - 10 December 2020
European Portuguese added TODAY! ːsteamhappyː First of all: Thanks to my mother who translated the game to European Portuguese from the English and the Brazilian Portuguese translation. She comes from Portugal so I always wanted to have a Portuguese translation of the game. Obrigado, mãe! Also, my fiancee modified the Kenney Future Font to improve the readability (on the letters K and X to distinguish them better from the H and from each other). This change is subtle so it doesn't affect the style of the Font too much. This should help in all languages but especially in German. Full Changelog: - European Portuguese added - Subtle modification of the Kenney Future Font to improve readability - Small changes to a few text placements - Two changes to the Brazilian Portuguese translation - One change to the English translation - Various adjustments and improvements
- Fix for the Brazilian Portuguese translation! - 2 December 2020
Hey everyone! Yesterday, when I uploaded the Brazilian Portuguese translation I was only testing certain areas and not the complete thing because I wanted to get it out fast. This lead to some text of the translation being cut off by other assets. Now, I tested the whole thing and adjusted the text :D Full Changelog: - Fixed cut off text in the Brazilian Portuguese translation - Fixed one typo in the Brazilian Portuguese translation - Adjusted some text boxes for all languages - Minor graphical adjustments
- Brazilian Portuguese Translation! - 1 December 2020
Olá! The Brazilian Portuguese translation for Bring Back The Sun is added :D Since my mother is from Portugal there will be an European Portuguese translation somewhen in the future :) I wanted to thank both the Spanish translator and Brazilian Portuguese translator for their work with a quick shoutout! If you need an English to Brazilian Portuguese translation, just ask José Victor Araujo! You can contact him via email: [email protected] If you need an English to Spanish translation, just ask Marcelo Escobar! You can contact him via email: [email protected] Btw. I forgot to change the version number with the last update so it will jump from 1.0.3 to 1.0.5 Full Changelog: - Added Brazilian Portuguese translation thanks to my translator José Victor Araujo - Improved one sentence in the English translation - Deleted/Improved some code (thank me later for the nanosec I save…
- Steam Cloud Save Support! Version 1.0.4 Released! - 30 November 2020
Hey everyone! Bring Back The Sun got Mighty Steam Cloud Saves™! Now, you can switch computers and continue with your play session! You can even switch from Linux to Windows and vice versa :D I never really cared about Steam Cloud Saves until I switched to a new computer and was happy about the games that synchronized. Since it's easy to add this feature with this game I did it. I tested it on Linux and Windows and it worked flawlessly. Alongside this addition there's a small fix. In one instance the Dutch text wasn't displayed fully. Also, I deleted an asset that's not used in the game. The next update will be released soon and will add support for Brazilian Portuguese! Full Changelog: - Steam Cloud Saves added - Small text fix for the Dutch version (verder spelen wasn't shown completely at the hardmode door) - Deleted one asset because I didn't need it
