Boss Rush Course Boss Rush Course is a special challenge mode where you can battle all the bosses from previously appeared stages consecutively. In the “Boss Rush Course (including homage stages),” if you own DLC, bosses from your DLC content will also be randomly selected for the boss stages. * In “R-Type Final 2,” stage bosses from “R-Type Final 3 Evolved” do not appear. 2. Below are the details of the latest update (Version 2.0.3). 1. Added a new player ship The humanoid fighter TL-3N NARCISSUS, which appears in the sci-fi tactical simulation game R-TYPE TACTICS II that sets in the world of R-TYPE, has been added as a player ship. Unlike other humanoid craft, it cannot transform into a flight form but has more powerful armaments. The following three conditions must be met to develop the TL-3N NARCISSUS, and the "TL-2AT," the predecessor of the TL-3N in the phylogenetic chart, must have been developed. 1) "Stage R2.0" has been completed. 2) Spend the resources necessary to develop the ship (Solonium: 450, Etherium: 450, Bydogen: 450). 3) The development of the "R-9D2" has been completed. 2. There are shooting games, and there are shooting games. Irem's 1987 R-Type can't exactly claim to be the first of its kind, and you could well argue there are more widely acclaimed shooting games, but you'd be hard pushed to find any as iconic as this stately sci-fi venture. Cold, composed and challenging, it's the archetypal 80s shooter, and a prime example of the genre in its pomp. The popularity of shooting games would wane throughout the 90s, however, and by the turn of the century those in charge of the series wondered whether it had a future at all. Which explains the brilliantly fatalistic air that hangs over R-Type Final, the 2004 entry that was imagined as a full-stop for the series.
