- DOGMAN 1.2 - 6 May 2022
Hello everyone! I'm super excited to release DOGMAN 1.2 to you guys tonight! I've made tons of changes, tons of fixes, and I can finally say that I am proud of the game. Enough talk, lets have a look at what's new! HIGHWAY 22 MAP REMASTER Oh boy, did this need to happen. Highway 22 was by far the worst map in the game. The concept was experimental, and the idea was cool, but the execution was awful. This was due to me not knowing how to program what I wanted to achieve, and also not having a clear view of player expectations. Every time someone played Highway 22, I felt embarrassed, and not very proud of my work. That all changes tonight. Highway 22 is now a new creation, and a fun experience. Let's look at what's changed! First off, the white fog is gone. It was too bright, looked ugly, and didn't add to the gameplay in anyway. I'd argue that it actually eased the tension the map shoul…
- DOGMAN 1.2 is on it's way - 14 April 2022
Hello everyone. I hope you're all doing well. This update is somewhat out of the blue, but I think it's much overdue. As I looked back at DOGMAN, and the lessons I learned from my first game, I couldn't shake the feeling of embarrassment when I had a friend play, or I watched someone play Highway 22. Something about the map didn't feel right, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Well here I am, over a year later, with a new set of eyes for this kind of thing. After I released Chester (my new game on steam, you should definitely check it out), I realized how much I learned about level design, and game development as a whole. I became good friends with one of Chester's players, and he gave me some outstanding feedback not only on that game, but on DOGMAN as well. So with this renewed spark of interest, I'm here letting you know that I've finished a remaster of Highway 22, and wow, did it n…
- DOGMAN Update 1.1.0 Amberg Industrial Park Remaster - 19 October 2021
Hello Everyone. DOGMAN 1.1.0 has released, and with it comes the remastered Amberg Industrial Park. Lets take a look at what changes have come with update 1.1.0 below. First, a little information on the development of this game. I started this game as a personal project that was never intended to release to public, but ultimately I made the decision to do so. One of the hard parts about that is finding the time to put the work into the game while also balancing personal life. Since DOGMAN launched, I've had some big changes and adjustments in my life. My schedule is far different than it used to be. This is the reason for update 1.1.0's delay. And for that, you have my apologies. I want to spend more time on this project to tidy up the glaring issues with it, and leave it in a good playable state before I'm entirely done with it, but we'll see how the future goes. Anyways, onto the patc…
- DOGMAN Update 1.0.9 Blue Ridge Campground Remaster - 12 January 2021
Hello all! Tonight DOGMAN 1.0.9 releases and with it, the remastered Blue Ridge Campground! Lets take a look at all the changes that have come with update 1.0.9 below. First off, as the title says, the Blue Ridge Campground has gotten a total remaster. Some of you may have taken comfort in the old version, since it was quite bright out, and you could see the dogmen roaming from far off. Well that's over with. The new Blue Ridge Campground is a dark, cold, and ominous dead forest, with frequent cabins and ranger towers scattered around the icy environment. Your goal in this new Campground, is the track down and find 5 trail cameras left behind by a previous officer. While this task may seem a little more difficult than tracking down missing campers like before, I've made sure you're equipped with a map to keep on-hand, letting you know where you should be looking. The number of dogmen ha…
- DOGMAN 1.0.8 Hopkins State Park Remaster - 17 December 2020
Hello everyone. DOGMAN 1.0.8 has been released and brings with it a much needed remaster of Hopkins State Park. Lets dive right in and see what's new. First off, let me give you some back story on Hopkins State Park. When I decided to create DOGMAN, Hopkins was where I learned everything. I learned how to sculpt landscapes, assign textures to that landscape, adjust materials, create simple AIs, create foliage, and it was my first time ever designing a map. While I look back fondly on those memories and the skills I learned back then, I realized that it was by far the most outdated map in the game. First off the map ran not so great for lots of people. This is due to a whopping 4.2 million foliage actors being loaded into the map. While you wouldn't be rendering all 4.2 million actors at once, it still caused poor performance, and long loading times. This number has been greatly reduced…
- DOGMAN 1.0.7 Releases New Map: Highway 22 - 1 December 2020
Hello all. Tonight DOGMAN 1.0.7 has been released. 1.0.7 is DOGMAN's biggest update yet, so lets dive right in and see what's new. First off, DOGMAN has received a brand new map: Highway 22. Highway 22 is a swampy bayou landscape that runs through southern Louisiana. While this is a day time map, you will be navigating through thick fog and dirty swamp water. Highway 22 is unlike the other DOGMAN maps in multiple ways. So lets take a look at what has changed! First off, you're not looking for missing people in Highway 22. Your car has broken down, and you need to get a radio working to get back to civilization. There are 8 parts within the swamp, and you need 7 of them. The issue however, is that you're being hunted. The Dogmen of Highway 22 are strange creatures, but savage nonetheless. The Swamp Dogmen are blind, and cannot see an inch in front of them. Don't let this setback decieve…
- DOGMAN 1.0.6 Patch Notes - 16 November 2020
Hello all. Tonight DOGMAN 1.0.6 releases and brings many great changes with it. Lets dive right in. First off, the flashlight system has been majorly changed. Rather than the handheld flashlight, the player now will be equipped with a shoulder mounted unit. The player can now run with the flashlight on as well. The flashlight however, now has limited battery power. Once the power is out, your flashlight will not work until you find batteries to refill it with. Next up is the Industrial Park. Since the re-addition of jumping, I've found many ways to glitch out the stalker Dogman on the industrial park, specifically by getting on top of objects/places the player shouldn't be. Nearly 80 blocking volumes were added to the map to restore gameplay to it's intended state, and to also help keep the Dogman from getting stuck on certain objects. The Dogman getting stuck on things is a constant ba…
- DOGMAN 1.0.5 Update Patch Notes - 13 November 2020
Hello all. DOGMAN has received another patch tonight, finally addressing my biggest grievance for this game. The graphics menu has received a much needed visual update, along with the much needed "save settings" functionality. Beforehand, every time you opened the graphics menu, it would reset. Now, it will save your settings not only after closing the menu, but between your play sessions. You have my deepest apologies for this disastrous menu making it into the steam version of DOGMAN, and I hope this helps you all out. A few small changes were made alongside this major change. Also, get ready, a new park begins development next week. Thank you for playing DOGMAN, stay safe in the forest! 1.0.5 content: - Functional graphics settings menu with "apply" feature that saves to your game's directory - New Easter egg added to the State Park and Appalachians Parks. That's all for DOGMAN 1.0.5…
- DOGMAN 1.0.4 Patch Notes - 12 November 2020
Hello all. DOGMAN 1.0.4 is a small, but important patch. This patch has improved loading times, and the loading screen system. The flashing near the edges of the main menu and level selection screens have been fixed as well. Small changes were made to the industrial park, as well as the industrial park's Dogman receiving better hearing capabilities. Be careful! Thanks for playing DOGMAN, stay safe in the forest! Patch 1.0.4 content: - Fixed flashing on main menu and loading screens - Improved loading times for all maps - Increased Stalker Dogman's hearing radius. - Small changes made to industrial park
- DOGMAN 1.0.3 Update Patch Notes - 11 November 2020
Hello all. DOGMAN 1.0.3 has been released, and brings some great quality of life improvements. These improvements were based directly off of player feedback. To start, navigation of the parks has been tricky. To help out with this, a compass has been added to the player's HUD. On top of this glaring issue, I have heard the issue, and acted upon the level loading screen times. Before, the level loading screen, which lists off valuable gameplay tips, was only available while the level loaded. Once the loading was complete, the level would open immediately, whether you were done reading the tips or not. This was a direct result of me still learning how to program certain systems in Unreal Engine 4. This issue has been fixed. Upon the level completing loading, an option to "Press Enter To Start" will be shown. The game will not start until the player acts upon this. DOGMAN 1.0.3 has also ad…
- DOGMAN 1.0.2 - 9 November 2020
Hello all. Update 1.0.2 Brings a much requested feature to DOGMAN. Building interiors. The player is now able to open the door to cabins, and explore the inside. Ranger towers are also climbable now. So why is this important? It doesn't really change much does it? It does. Both of these structures can now be used as "Hiding Places". If you have a Dogman on your tail, get inside a cabin or climb up a ranger tower. The Dogman will stick around for a little bit, waiting for you to come down, but will lose interest once he's realized he can't get you. This was a feature that was tested earlier in development, but was scrapped due to collision issues with the old cabin model. It was brought back thanks to player feedback, so please keep it coming! Here's what came in DOGMAN 1.0.2: - Appalachians Park has been made darker. - Cabins on Appalicians and State Park are now accessible with more de…
