- Just two weeks after launch, 'extraction survival horror' game Level Zero: Extraction ends development: 'It's no longer feasible for our relatively small teams to sustain the game' - 14 February 2025
Just two weeks after launching on Steam, "multiplayer extraction survival horror" shooter Level Zero: Extraction has reached the end of the road. In a message posted to Steam , community manager Antishyr said the game has "underperformed compared to our expectations," and thus "it's no longer feasible for our relatively small teams to sustain the game from a financial standpoint.".. - Level Zero Extraction is wrapping up support just two weeks after hitting 1.0 - 14 February 2025
It's a tough time to be a competitive multiplayer game right now. Whether you're an ambitious indie or even a triple-A behemoth with a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars, carving out a niche, supporting it with content, and retaining players is no easy task. Level Zero Extraction certainly nailed step one. A horror-infused extraction FPS with a Dead By Daylight style asymmetrical twist that lets you play as a squad of mercenaries or as a terrifying alien, it was an exciting prospect. However, it struggled throughout its stint in early access, and despite reaching its 1.0 launch just over two weeks ago, developer Doghowl Games has revealed it's ending support for the game. - 1.0 and Beyond: What's Next? - 14 February 2025
Hello, Mercs & Aliens, Antishyr here. As the project's community manager, on behalf of DogHowl and tinyBuild, I'm informing you that Level Zero: Extraction has reached the state that will, most probably, be its final form for the time being. The final patch for the game was released on January 30th, 2025. Level Zero: Extraction is an ambitious debut title from Doghowl. Our desire was to create a game unlike any other by combining the extraction shooter and asymmetrical horror genres. Although we ended up seeing that those are not easy to blend, we're grateful we had the chance to try and gain so much invaluable experience. On behalf of my teams and personally, I want to say an enormous "Thank you" to all of you. For supporting us in our efforts. For helping us break into the Top 100 Steam's most wishlisted games and making the Open Beta the second most-played demo of the Steam Next Fest…

- Update 0.7.2: 🧬Mutations Upgrade System for the Alien Class - 25 December 2024
IMG or GIF Introducing Mutations 🧬 We’re excited to announce that the 🧬 Mutations feature is live. We postponed the release of this long-awaited system several times to refine other core aspects of the game, such as shooting mechanics, light system redesign, and UV lights. Now, we’re ready to share more about the mutation system, how it’s designed, and why it’s shaped the way it is. Design Philosophy Behind Mutations A core part of the alien design is to create constant tension within the extraction environment. Camping isn't a viable strategy because the third faction—the aliens—can hear, sense, and relentlessly hunt you. This forces players to keep moving and make tactical decisions. However, this design came with a challenge: aliens had a stale power curve. Their strength depended entirely on starving mercenaries of resources and catching them at their weakest. To counteract this,…

Hey, Mercs & Aliens, First things first: On Monday, December 9th, we will release Update 0.7, which will wipe the servers and add more content like weapons, map sectors (see teasers below), contracts, and more. The expected time for the update to go live is 17:00 CET / 8 am PST / 11 am EST. Also, our team wants to address major community concerns and (traditionally) share some work-in-progress bits with all of you in this Development Update. 1. December Content Update We’re seeing mentions of the December Content Update being a major one, so we want to set expectations straight. It’s more about laying groundwork than adding loads of content—it won’t be super groundbreaking. We’ll soon introduce in-session progression for the Research Facility map and the first iteration of the Mutations upgrade system for the Alien Monster class.
