- Infinite Voyager "Starfighter PIlot" Update is live - 8 August 2026
It's good to be back. But do you know what's even better?A complete overhaul of air combat with new sprites, new fighters, new balancing, and a whole lot more you'll have to fight through if you want to take over a planet. New Fighter and Starfighter SpritesI've gone on record saying that I really don't want to use AI art. But at the same time, I've been mostly using placeholder assets. They're nice, but a bit too generic, if you ask me.With that said, I'm happy to announce that Infinite Voyager has new fighter and starfighter sprites from the great Vitaliy "Kruger" Ostaschenko.Seriously, this guy is awesome. You can find his Artstation here, and follow him on social media here.Additionally, the Scouting Drone sprite is getting reverted to a previous version I'd made a few years ago, to fully phase out the placeholder assets.New Enemy FightersAnother new chance coming to this update is…
- Infinite Voyager "Starships of the Line" Update is live - 30 May 2026
It's taken some time, but I'm happy to announce that Inifinite Voyager now has new sprites for all warships and a brand-new mechanic.New Warship SpritesLike I said before, I'm not much of an artist, but there is no way in Hell I am using AI Art.Which is why I'm happy to announce that the warships have brand new sprites by the great Vitaliy "Kruger" Ostaschenko. He's great, and you can find his Artstation here, and follow him on social media here. The new sprites are for the Dreadnought, Cruiser, and Frigate classes of warships.ContractsContracts are a new mechanic in Starships of a Line, where you'll be rewarded for completing specific tasks. To begin a contract, land on a planet and go to the Contract Broker. Here, you can view all available contracts on the planet, along with the objective, the target faction, and the reward. Click "Accept Contract" to add it to your list of active cont…

- Infinite Voyager Ships Off The Line Update Is Live - 23 March 2026
It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, it's also the Steam Spring Sale, so let's cut to the chase.New Freighter SpritesWhile I do take pride in my work, the reality is that Infinite Voyager was started with a shoestring budget. I wouldn't say it's an "Asset Flip," but the reality is that my art skills basically consist of maps and funny photoshops I do to make people laugh. Starships are... Well, they're a lot more complicated.Which is why I went with these public-domain designs from Millionth Vector. They're good designs, but using somebody else's designs can be limiting. Also there is no way in Hell I am using AI Art.Which is why I'm happy to announce that Infinite Voyager has new freighter sprites, with new warship sprites in the works. These sprites were created by Kruger (link to social media here), a talented sci-fi concept artist I commissioned to design new freighter sprites (and is…

- Infinite Voyager Starship Boarding Update - 13 December 2025
So, a few years ago, I showed off some concepts for a boarding mechanic. It was old, clunky, and still a proof of concept, but I put it on the backburner for a few years.Well, it's been a few years, and after some upgrades to the UI, traveling, and performance, I figured it was time to take another crack at boarding the ship. How Boarding WorksWell, the short answer is that there's a tutorial that covers it.So how this works is that when you weaken an enemy starship, get in close, and successfully board it, you'll now need to pilot a remote-controlled mech using the W, A, S, and D keys to move and your mouse to aim and fire. Then you'll have to move through the starship until you reach the control room. Also there are enemy mechs that will kill you with assault rifles, mech-sized marksman rifles that are giant M1 Garands, and M2 Browning heavy machine guns, and they will shoot you.Addition…

- Infinite Voyager's Relaunch is Live! - 30 October 2025
Well, this re-launch is going to be a big one, so old saves might be incompatible. You'll want to start a new save. Now that that's out of the way, let’s get started with Infinite Voyager’s newest feature: Ship CustomizationShip CustomizationShip customization comes in the form of Upgrades that can come with a captured starship or be purchased at planetside Shipyards. These Upgrades provide all new advantages for your starship both in and out of combat, including:Drone HangarAllows your starship to carry an additional 2 drones that can be used for scouting or combat.Primary AmmoIncreases your primary weapon ammunition by 50%.Secondary AmmoIncreases the numbers of missiles you can fire (secondary weapon ammunition) by 50%.Tertiary AmmoIncreases your countermeasures and point-defense weapons (tertiary weapon ammunition) by 50%.Shield ChargerIncreases the rate at which your shield recharges…

- Infinite Voyager's 0.0.4.1 Update is Live! - 20 August 2025
So this one's going to be a little bit shorter, but I have two major updates for this one:Camera ReworkThe big one is that the camera in starship combat has had a full rework.Instead of centering around the player's starship, the camera will now zoom in and out to show both starships, allowing you to see your enemy at all times. As you move further away from the enemy starship (or vice-versa), the camera will zoom out. Move in closer, and it'll zoom in.Keep in mind that this only applies to starships. While I'm open to having it happen for drone combat, I'm partial to having it be more "up-close and personal" to add some variety to the game.Missile ReworkThe other major update is that the missiles for starships now have a lock-on mechanic, instead of auto-locking immediately. To lock on to a starship, hover your cursor over the starship until it reaches 100% and turns red. Once this happe…
- Infinite Voyager's 0.0.4 Update is Live! - 8 August 2025
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Yeah, sorry about that.Turns out it’s a really bad idea to develop multiple games at once when you’re one guy with a dog. But with Tyrannis and the rest of my projects pretty much finished, I can now focus on Infinite Voyager. So, let’s get started with what’s new in this (very late) update.Bug FixesLet’s start with some bug fixes:Loaded saves will show the correct systems for previously-visited systems. The targeting reticule will no longer rotate for smaller ships with point-defense weapons.Cursors will show up when they’re supposed to during pause menus. The game will no longer crash when entering planets in previously-entered systems.Starship shields will now recharge during combat. The clock now functions normally instead of going through minutes every second.Combat BalancingThe big problem, now that I’ve had a chance to look at it, is that combat was just…
- July Hotfix - 27 July 2024
Hey, Chris here. Work's been picking up, but with Tyrannis finally finished, I can focus on some updates for Infinite Voyager. Big thing for this one is that the combat's been re-balanced and the glitch where you get sent to an empty solar system is fixed. Anyways, I have a meeting to attend, so I'll see you around. -Chris Still the one guy here
- Infinite Voyager 0.0.3 Update - 6 February 2024
So, um... Long time no see, huh? Okay, if I'm being honest, a big reason why this wasn't going to be updated was Starfield coming out in 2023. I was honestly scared that nobody would want to play this, since I would be competing against Bethesda (and promptly get my butt kicked because I can't beat them at their own game). Of course, there's some similarities: "Open-World Space Exploration Game," and all that, but I realized something. That's about where the similarities end. Infinite Voyager is its own game that is a love-letter to Sid Meier's Pirates! (except for that freaking dancing mechanic I don't like because I can't see the prompts). That, and my fundamental game design philosophy is to not compete with other companies by making something truly unique. That way, I don't have to try to beat bigger studios at their own game. It's that philosophy that helped me design Tyrannis and…
- Infinite Voyager 2023 Overhaul Update - 19 March 2023
Kept you waiting, huh? Yeah, sorry about that. Had a very hectic 2022, where I nearly died multiple times. I'm doing better now, though, which means it's time for an update of Infinite Voyager! Everything That's Been Updated True Open-World Gameplay. This time, you aren't going from system to system. Do you see that star over there? Go there and explore the planets. If you want, conquer it for the faction of your choice and come back to it later! Combat Interface Changed. One of the problems with combat is that players would have to keep looking away from their ship while they were fighting if they wanted to see if they ran out of ammo. Sure, that works in FPS games, but this is a roguelike space exploration game, not an FPS. Better to have all the info you need right next to your ship. UI Overhaul I'll be honest, this one is kind of for me. Sure, the old look wasn't bad, but man did it…
