Dear players, I hope you had a wonderful New Year's celebration. For the past few months, following the latest Experimental update, there has been a noticeable silence on my end. So, what's going on? When will the next update come? A great question, to which I don't have an answer. As mentioned in previous posts, the fact that the Experimental update works at all, is a miracle. For those unaware, it seems I've reached the limit of the game engine's capabilities (or perhaps my own to optimize it.) Attempting to add new minigames leads to an immediate crash. Currently, I can't even release a translation for the experimental free DLC as it results in a direct crash. So what's the game plan? I'm currently considering a few options, one of which involves locking the Experimental update and attempting to release it in full as a free standalone game or DLC. - The Call for a Savior Experimental - V1.1.8.2 - 10 August 2023
Update V1.1.8.2 will bring a few new things to the table! The main menu has been reworked to make it easier to navigate and it simply looks better. A new ending variation has been added, and a new path/story branch has been added. When you meet the Horticul Warrior, you now have the choice to fight or go a more diplomatic route. February has 2 "special scenes" which are either gay or straight, depending on the player's choice. 4 Achievements have been added to the game. The "Stayed Loyal" achievement was bugged and has now been fixed. Version 1.1.8.1 will add a few new things for you to discover and enjoy, including 3 new achievements! Work will now focus on V1.1.8.2. I hope you enjoy! Still being worked on: Long loading time (black screen) after the Yasmin Dungeon scene where it pre-loads a "special" animation sequence. Again, this is not the game crashing, it is simply loading the animation. Will investigate further how to minimize load time in this regard. Dear Players, It's been a while since I announced the v1.2 update, which was a huge free DLC update to the game that I had planned. It is unfortunate, but I have come to the decision to cancel this free DLC update. Let's go over what happened. Rough Start When The Lustful Champion was first created, it went through writer's hell. The original story was rewritten a couple of times, and it was created with help from a few different people. It was a long road to create the game in the first place, as it was everyone's first time working on a game, and especially the Calories Game was a chore to create. Eventually, the game was finished and released on Steam. Going Solo After the release of The Lustful Champion, there were no plans for DLC or added content, the focus was on bug fixing, and there were a lot of bugs! The Lustful Champion V1.2 is well on its way now, there have been some hurdles along the way but its getting there. After looking at YouTube videos, Twitch, (It's so cool to see) and receiving feedback, there will be some changes to the main story-line as well. When creating The Lustful Champion, it was done from a mindset and cultural perspective that isn't American. The English version of the game was made without taking American sensitivities in mind, which according to feedback, makes the game sound unnecessarily rude, mean-spirited and hostile. That's not what we were going for, and I should've had American sensitivities in mind for making the English version of the game. There will be some adjustments to the jokes in some cases, but story will not be impacted. See it as a small "attitude adjustment". Hello everyone! With the launch and fixing of all the bugs that were found, work has been resumed on V1.2.0 of The Lustful Champion. I want to thank everyone who let me know about some of the bugs that I missed, and also thank you for the suggestions like adding the skip and auto buttons! Now that work is resumed on v1.2.0 what can you expect? V1.2.0 of The Lustful Champion will add a new storyline that takes places weeks before the main story, new characters to interact with and more CG Gallery items to unlock! I want to also say that the content that is being added is all done by one person. With the creation of the game, there were several people that helped out here and there, but now it's all a one-man-show, so to say. Dear players, It has been a week already since The Lustful Champion launched, and it has been an experience! Bug fixes and Updates The game launched with version v1.1.0, and it is currently running at v1.1.3, that means there have been some changes! We’ve added a “Skip already read” button, with a tutorial on how to correctly use it. This was a great suggestion by Steam user “geemoneypreppunk” and we are thankful for it! We’ve also added an “Auto-read” button with a tutorial explaining how it works. There have also been bugs, especially with “The Calories Game.” The secret characters wouldn’t unlock, December and Capricorne would be bugged and wouldn’t unlock either. Dear readers (and hopefully future players), The release of The Lustful Champion is coming up this month! So far we haven't found reasons for delaying yet, and are working hard to find any bugs and squash them! What we did notice in the process was that we forgot to include one of the most basic things in a game... A loading screen! Thanks to BETA testers and testing the game on lower-end hardware, we discovered that when the game loads, it would just show a black screen and could confuse players as to why the screen stayed black for a few moments. EXTRA CONTENT We are also already working on extra story-related content that shows things from a somewhat different perspective and once that is finished, we will add it as a FREE content update.
