- UPDATE 1.20 - 21 All New Karma For Money Scenario Questions! - 22 January 2024
In this update, I've better centered the karma questions to fit on the green cloth background of the gambling table and also added 21 all new karma scenario questions to the game. The old total of karma questions was 69, and this addition of 21 new ones brings the total to 90 so that hopefully you'll see the same karma scenarios less often. ..Remember that even if the same karma question comes up a second or third time in a play session, the dollar amounts you receive and the karma loss will likely vary due to random dice rolls behind the scenes handled in code to change things up a little. - UPDATE 1.19 - Portion Bet Buttons Spaced Further Apart & Karma Explained Button! - 3 February 2022
In this update, I responded directly to the constructive criticism left on the review by Steam user "Da Gurls". I would like to sincerely thank this user for his criticism and his review even though it was a negative review because it has helped me improve my game for everyone! - The portion bet buttons like "Bet All" and "Bet Half" have been spaced further apart to prevent accidentally hitting the wrong button. (They were only a few pixels apart before this update and are now 24 pixels apart) - An "Explain Karma" button has been added to the right side of the screen that will open a window explaining how the karma system in 'The Best BJ' works as well as how God's Wrath works in the game as well. This window can be opened before each hand is played. - I've also reworked the Highest Balances code that retrieves the top ten highest balances from Steam to display in the top right section…
- UPDATE 1.18 - Separate Save Files For Each Steam User On The Same PC! - 29 January 2022
Hello everyone! This is the first game I've developed that saves your progress and I just discovered that it would use the same saved data no matter what Steam account you might be using on the same computer! UGH! ..That HAD to be fixed! So this update resolves that and now multiple Steam accounts can all have their own saved data on the same computer! - But what about my old saved data? Has it been reset with this update? ...I hear you with that question! ...Never fear! This update will first create your new save file based on your Steam ID and then make sure it loads any old save data on your PC. If multiple people have saved their Best BJ game before this update, the game will load the old save data into every different Steam account that logs in after this update. Should that not be what you'd like (such as if the save file has a low balance and/or karma you don't want for example)…
- UPDATE 1.17 - Easy Balance + Karma Reset, New Achievements, More! - 3 January 2022
Not a ton in this update, but you'll no longer need to search out the sav file to "cheat" to reset your game balance and karma if things get too dicey for you. It now shows you at the bottom left of the game to simply hold CTRL and press the F8 key to do an in game reset which not delete all your statistics. You'll also earn Steam achievements for resetting your game! Also you'll notice the the dealer signs her name at the bottom of the loading screen so you'll never forget her name! As seen in the above image, there is now a new button called "STATS" available after every hand played. Clicking this button will bring up a stat page of your total lifetime Best BJ statistics. These stats will be kept for the life of your Best BJ account no matter how many times you close and re-launch the game. Your stats will only be reset if you delete the save file on your computer or should you do something like wipe your hard drive (same as deleting the save file) or changing or playing The Best BJ on a new computer. (Your stats are tied directly to your computer with your save file. ---------------------------------------- Should you ever want to delete your save file for any reason, you can go to your appdata local folder, then to your "The Best BJ" folder and simple delete the "saved" file. This will cause the game to refresh all your stats, as well as reset your game balance…

In this update, eleven new questions have been added that can possible pop up when you have a negative or very low balance for five hands. This brings the total now to 32. I decided to not make my previously planned "autobot" DLC that would play for you if turned on while you were AFK. Instead, I've made other changes that I believe will make the game more interesting for those who find themselves at a near-zero balance frequently... * Now, if you have a balance under zero, or even near zero, the game still wants you to 'try" and work your way out of the hole you're in yourself before offering you "free money". After playing just five hands, or waiting five minutes (being AFK for example), you'll be given the already seen "Low Moral question" such as robbing elderly people or scamming people for easy money. - UPDATE 1.06 - Leaderboards Fix - 29 July 2021
A small update here to address a couple of things regarding the Steam leader boards shown directly on your game screen: 1) The game when first launched will now get the top ten Steam leaders BEFORE you play your first hand every time. So you'll no longer see an empty leader board sometimes until you play a hand. 2) I fixed an issue that might have caused some new players to either not see their balance post to the leader board list if they were in the top ten, or who might have seen the game close with a crash after their first hand. ..Eeek! - UPDATE 1.04 - Fixed the "Steam Leaders" and "How To Play" buttons (Chrome Users) - 24 July 2021
I got a report from Rode_G on Twitch and YouTube (go check him out!).. that the "Steam Leaders" and "How To Play" buttons were not bringing up working browsers from within the game. I personally still use good ol' Firefox, so I wasn't aware of this problem until Rode reported it to me. ...This is why reporting all bugs and issues on my forums is so important to an indie developer. ...If we don't know about a problem or bug with our game, we can't fix it! Anyhow, it seems that this is actually a bug within the Chrome browser itself. At least that's what I discovered with my research. - UPDATE 1.02 - Easier To See When You Win A Hand + Return Chip Fix - 23 July 2021
Just another small update here.. I added the ability to see the chips return when you WIN a hand. Keep in mind that you will not see any chips return if you PUSH (or tie/draw) the dealers total to avoid confusion. I know that you'd technically get your chips back, and you still get your chips back in this game, you just won't see the chips return to you as if you won the hand. There do seem to very infrequent situations where you'll win a hand and not see the chips return to you. If this happens, simply click the "PLAY AGAIN" button above your balance and you should see that you've actually won chips and your balance should increase properly. .. I am still trying to track down exactly why this happens sometimes, but not others. I've also fixed a situation that seemed to happen sometimes for people where they'd click on chips they bet in the pot area but could not return them to their ba…
