Recently we got a little quite regarding Updates for the game. However, be assured this does not mean we’re not working on something for Highrise City. The opposite is the case. - Grab a free Steam key for this ambitious Cities Skylines 2 rival - 10 August 2024
It's no secret that Cities Skylines 2 has struggled to catch on quite like its predecessor did. Marred by performance issues, a lack of modding tools, and faulty DLC, Paradox's city building sequel somewhat pales in comparison to its iconic predecessor. In its absence, however, we've seen a slew of plunky indies appear, including Highrise City , a colossal management sim that's easily Cities' closest rival to date. If you're keen to dive in, we've giving away a whole slew of free Steam codes, which include the base game, as well as some additional goodies. Read the rest of the story... - German Dev Days & a belated Changelog! - 9 August 2024
Greetings Mayors! The last two days the German Dev Days 2024 took place in Frankfurt, Germany. And we visited the show as Highrise City was actually nominated for three Awards, including Best Game. In the end we sadly didn't take home the prices as the amazing TerraScape also was nominated and took home nearly every award. And we'd like to congratualte as it is an amazing project. If you ever get the chance to visit Germany around the time of the show however we can recommend to visit it, especially if you are interested in game development. Lots of great talks. But keep in mind that most talks are in German. Besides that we noticed we did forget to post the full changelog for the free update when Vacation Season dropped. So here you go: The building editor highlights the Help Button for the Tutorial now Increased the amount of electricity Offshore Windparks produce Adjusted the constru…

- Overlooked CS2 rival Highrise City is about to get bigger and better - 30 July 2024
The Cities Skylines 2 economy has certainly improved since the big 2.0 patch from Colossal Order. But if you want a strategy game and builder with a serious focus on manufacturing, production chains, and money management - something that marries the spirit of SimCity with the depth and detail of maybe Industry Giant - there's one underloved Steam stalwart that deserves more attention. A plucky rival to CS2, Highrise City is huge, complex (in a good way), and boasts a supremely intricate economic simulation. And if you haven't tried it yet, it's about to get even better courtesy of a new DLC. Read the rest of the story... The new DLC will be quite massive in terms of content and will contain also a free update for the main game itself. - Office Needs are here! - 3 June 2024
Greetings Mayors! June is here. It's update time. The office needs are here. Offices now require certain services and buildings to work at 100%. That means that quite a few buildings have been added to the game. From kindergardens to parking spaces and training centers. Some of the service buildings will require new resources such as ready meals and network cables. But that's not all. We've fixed quite a few bugs and improved little things underneath to make the game even more stable. We also adjusted the streets menu which is now separated and only contains streets. Also, if you use it, it will automatically pick the latest street you've been building before which will save you some clicks. Changelog Scrolling with the mouse on the edges has been speeded up by factor 3 Nuclear Powerplant and Fusion Powerplant now produce twice as much Fixed an error which made some ingame hints not sho…
- Sneak Peak on Office Needs - 16 May 2024
Greetings Mayors! We have a timeframe for the next Update. Early June we will be releasing the Office Update for Highrise City. The Update will introduce new mechanics for office buildings. For the future all offices will also require certain service buildings such as car parks. Each office level will have different requirements. We don't want to spoil too much here about what we have prepared, just wanted to let you know that the new things are coming along fine. It might be that we will move one certain building to the following update as it is one of the hugest buildings we've ever did and we're not yet sure if it will be ready in time. To give you another small hint on how we adjusted certain mechanics for office needs... well, take a look yourself:
- Silk, Corn and E-Bikes - 27 March 2024
Greetings Mayors! We hope your cities grow and your citizens are happy. Cause today we want to give you even more options for your economy. We’ve been working on some new product chains recently which also come with new buildings. The new distillery and the Corn Farm are just two of the new buildings you will be able to discover. We also thought a bit about those new lines, especially with balancing in mind. The distillery enables you to produce spirit early on in the game. It is now needed for the level 1 and 2 citizens. And it also enables you to get some much needed cash early in the game. The new E-Bikes however are needed for the Level 3 and 4 inhabitants. But keep in mind that these also need Electric Motors so they are quite hard to produce. At 4 and 5 your citizens will now need no common clothes anymore but elegant ones which require the production of silk. Besides all that we’…
- Coming next week: New Production Lines - 22 March 2024
Greetings Mayors! Just a little tease: Next Wednesday new production lines will be added to the world of Highrise City. And of course we've been fixing some issues and adding little improvements again. But for now, here's a sneak of what's going to be added (there's more you'll see next week):
- A look at our plans - 26 February 2024
Greetings Mayors! As promised before, today we'd like to give you a rough overview on what we are currently working on for Highrise City. And that's quite a lot actually. Obviously, Bugfixes and optimizations are always being worked on, that's a given. If you run into issues or crashes, let us know via the Steam Forums or the official Discord so we can look into the issues to fix them. In the meantime we've updated the Roadmap a bit to show you what we are currently working on. Looking at the main game that's mainly extensions regarding the gameplay. Soon we will start introducing needs for Office Buildings. The general mechanis for these have already been implemented. There will definitely be more needs for the Offices, that's for sure. Parking garages are one thing we are currently implementing. We also have some other ideas we'd like to realize. But that also requires some internal t…

- DLC "Metro & Planes" available NOW - 21 December 2023
Greetings Mayors! Thank you so much for your support and trust. With your feedback we were able (and still are) to expand Highrise City further and improve it as well. Thanks to the countless feedback we have quite a few plans on what else to add and we’ll share some insights soon. For now, right before the holidays, we’ve got something very special for you. The very first expansion for Highrise City is here, called Metro & Planes. The DLC introduces metro lines for your cities which can easily be integrated into your current cities. It is a new option for your public transport routes and it also affects the way costs of your citizens. The all new airport allows you to expand on your trading options. Already during the Early Access we already said that if we did paid expansions, we’d make sure that they would be priced fairly. And we stand by our word. We don’t believe in greed. We don’…
- A new update is rising! - 30 November 2023
Greetings Builders! Has the time come? The time has come! A fresh update for Highrise City is ready. And this update includes quite some massive improvements for the performance of the game. During the last weeks we’ve been working really hard on the game and managed to improve the overall performance especially for really big cities. We managed to improve the performance by around 10 to 15 times which should bring you more joy when you are going for multi million citizen cities. Besides that we’ve been working on other things as well. Thanks to your feedback we were able to fix some smaller and bigger issues. But we’ve also beautified some buildings and added a new Level 5 office. And we’ve also included a small easter egg for the christmas season. Also: As a small spoiler, this was not the last update for this year. More on that soon… Changelog Performance massively improved Lags for…
- What's Next? - 16 November 2023
Greetings Builders! We've been silent for a while. Time to change that. And give you a small update. Yes, we are still working on performance improvements and fixes for reported issues. We also got a bunch of StackTrace files to figure out certain crashes on some machines. We're looking into that. Besides that, today, we'd like to tease a bit. We also have some plans for additional product chains and some quality of life updates down the road. Since we're a small team, bigger changes always take some time. And yet: They'll come. More on that soon.
- If Cities Skylines 2 performance has you worried, play this instead - 20 October 2023
Cities Skylines 2 performance on PC is causing worry for fans of the giant Paradox city builder. While its new features and tools are all welcome additions, and it offers a much greater scale and creativity than the original Cities Skylines, CS2 struggles on even the strongest gaming rigs, with our own Cities Skylines 2 review citing numerous issues. If you've got concerns about the upcoming sequel, but still want a great new building and management game, Cities Skylines 2's closest rival, Highrise City, is the perfect option. - Update: Winner, Winner Chicken & Cake - 19 October 2023
Greetings Builders! Once again we would like to thank you all for playing Highrise City and for providing us with tons of feedback. After leaving Early Access we did not stop working on the game and started throwing around ideas on how to extend the game even further while also fixing reported issues and improving the performance of the game. Today we would like to introduce a new product for your citizens: Cake. The bakery now becomes a building with a switchable resource. The bakery is now either a bakery or a pastry shop. To produce cake you will also need a new resource: Eggs. Which can be produced with a chicken farm: We have also updated the building menu slightly, giving it a better structure and making it clearer and easier to understand. As a small tease here: We are currently reworking the icons in general and will introduce a fresh building menu later this year. Something we’…
- Beta Branch Updated - 16 October 2023
Greetings Builders, We have updated the Beta Branch which you can freely pick in Steam. Usually we don't post changes made in the Beta Branch but this time it's a different situation. We are reading all the posts in the forums and on Discord and some players are still affected by regular crashes. We were able to implement a tool to be able to analyze the freezes. If freezes happen, the game will generate a StackTrace file within 60 seconds, even if the game permanently freezes (it can take up to 60 seconds). The file will be stored under "C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\CityNext\Saved\Config". It can tell us where exactly in the code the freeze happened. We'd be thankful if you could provide us the StackTrace files if you are having these crashes.
