- 🛠️ Scrapping Simulator — Road Map, Future Plans, Moving to v1.0 Release - 29 June 2026
Hi everyone, After over 6 years of development on Scrapping Simulator (with a handful of breaks while working outside of game dev), it's time to be fully open and clear about the project's direction, set some firm boundaries, and reset expectations to a realistic level for a solo indie title. Since the removal of the old GitHub roadmap integration, many newer players (and even some veterans) haven't seen the full picture. I'm just one person working on a tiny budget with no prior game dev experience when I started this. This is my first proper game, and I want to finish it before it becomes an endless commitment I can't sustain and end's up getting abandoned. The Reality of Solo Development At least 95% of the player base stays silent. I only see feedback from a small vocal group, roughly half seem very satisfied with any update and progress, while others often appear frustrated, questi…
- v0.41.7 Hotfix - 17 June 2026
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator – v0.41.7 Hotfix A small hotfix addressing a few minor issues from the v0.41.7 update. Fixed a UI bug where some text elements would remain visible when switching from E-Waste disassembly to background interactables in the hover UI. Fixed a save issue where newly purchased Storage Buckets, Chemical supplies, and Boxes would not save correctly if no E-Waste items were present in the world. - World item detection and sorting now runs before the saving process begins for greater reliability. Fixed a typo in the Pawn Shop tutorial stage panel. Removed the old redundant signs in both the Pawn Shop and Scrap Yard. With the new Manuals and improved hover/interaction text, these signs were no longer needed and a bit of an eye sore. Added helpful hover text to the Pawn Shop Green Acceptance Box to clearly indicate where to drop items for sale and what to do next. Improved…
- v0.41.7 Update - 16 June 2026
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator – v0.41.7 Update 📚 Major Addition: Bookcase of Manuals A new Bookcase of Manuals has been added to the static bookcase inside the Player House. This serves as an optional, always-accessible hub for detailed information on game systems, mechanics, tips, and tricks. The Bookcase provides comprehensive breakdowns of nearly every mechanic in the game and can be accessed at any time. As players unlock technical systems (such as the Furnace and Chemical Refining), a corresponding Manual now appears with the upgrade, offering in-depth guidance. Manuals function as normal carryable items. They can be placed anywhere, read at any time, and stored in or retrieved from the Bookcase. If lost, they can always be recovered from the Bookcase. On game load, all Manuals are automatically returned to the Bookcase for consistency and performance. Current manuals include: General G…
- Hotfix v0.41.6 Patch - 15 April 2026
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator – v0.41.6 Patch Update This update focuses on bug fixes, stability improvements, and quality-of-life adjustments based on recent reports. 📘 Tutorial Fixed a softlock in the tutorial where the Zoom step could be skipped if the entire DVD Drive was disassembled without ever zooming. Removed the popup that appeared when a tutorial step was skipped. Tasks will now fail and move on to the next step so the tutorial keeps flowing instead of interrupting and lecturing. 🏪 Hardware Store Added a 15 minute purchase lockout. After 4:45 PM new items can no longer be purchased. The final 15 minutes before closing can now only be used to transport already purchased items outside. Over the years there have been countless reports of Hardware Store purchases becoming stuck, lost, deleted, or hidden. Most of these occurred when players attempted last-second purchases right before…
- v0.41.5 Merged to Default Branch - 13 April 2026
Default (Stable) Build Updated from v0.39 to v0.41.5 With Open Testing proving very successful and all officially reported bugs resolved, the massive changes from not only v0.40 but also the even bigger updates in v0.41 have now been merged into the Default Steam Build for everyone to enjoy. A massive thank you to everyone who jumped into the Testing Branch, officially reported issues, and helped work toward a stable build for all players. Please Note: The way bugs should be reported has changed since v0.39. Bugs mentioned on Discord or Steam discussions may not be investigated or fixed until they are officially reported using the In-Game Bug Reporter (press in-game or use the button in the menus). As the game continues to expand and players take many different paths (where “playing normally” can mean something different for everyone), bugs are becoming increasingly difficult to find, r…

- 🛠️ Scrapping Simulator — v0.41 Update Status - 17 March 2026
G'day Scrappers! Firstly, I'd like to apologize for the delays with the v0.41 Major Update. The update is very close to release and is currently going through finalization and testing, but I wanted to give everyone a quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes. 🔧 Disassembly System Rebuild While working on the update, it became clear there was no reliable way to eliminate the desync and state bugs in the previous Disassembly System. Because of that, the entire core system has been rebuilt from the ground up. This rebuild is the main reason for the delay, but the good news is: • Disassembly is now fully functional again • No known bugs so far (after some pretty heavy testing) ⚙️ A Much More Reliable System The new system is significantly more robust than the previous version. Everything now runs in a strict sequence, meaning it should never desync or break state, even with p…
- Hotfix v0.40r4 + Main Branch Roll Back! - 2 January 2026
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator – v0.40 Revision 4 Hotfix & Main Branch Rollback G’day Scrappers! Happy New Year! 🎉 This hotfix addresses recent bug reports and announces a Main Branch rollback. This separates casual players looking for a stable experience from those who want to help test and improve the game. Patch Notes – v0.40 Rev 4 Tutorial Fixes: Fixed starting in a paused state, refined prompts to be more instructional where needed, and relaxed guidance elsewhere. Gameplay Fixes: Scrapper Joe now accepts PlusBox 2000s. Bug Reporting: The new in-game reporting system is working wonderfully—screenshots, detailed descriptions, and mandatory logs make bug tracking faster and more accurate. Thank you, and keep them coming! Please use the bug report feature for actual issues only; venting or insults add noise and slow fixes. Steam and Discord are for general feedback and discussion, not the Bu…
- Disassembly Improvements + In-Game Bug Reporting - v0.40 - 31 December 2025
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator – v0.40 Revision 3 Disassembly Improvements + In-Game Bug Reporting G’day Scrappers! Happy New Year! Here’s to a more focused and productive year for Scrapping Simulator ːhandywrenchː After a long journey — and yes, nearly five years in Early Access Alpha — it’s clear this project needs to move forward and be finished. That point has been made clear, and I completely agree. As a result, I’ll be taking a more direct and streamlined approach to the game going forward. For anyone curious about just how far Scrapping Simulator has come over those 5 years: Check out Scrapping Simulator from 5 years ago (v0.05) - FREE DEMO This is the original pre-Steam build — no disassembly queues, no fancy accessibility features, no tool progression, no city, no levelling or perks, and not even screws in the earliest versions. What started as a basic prototype slowly grew into what…
- Disassembly Bug Patch - v0.40 - 28 December 2025
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator – v0.40 Disassembly Patch G’day Scrappers! First off, I’d like to apologise for the delay with this patch. I was really hoping to have this issue 100% resolved before releasing it, but unfortunately it’s proven to be far more complex than expected and is beginning to push beyond my current skill level. While taking a short break over the holidays, I felt it was still better to release the progress made so far rather than continue holding it back — even if the changes are relatively small. Although the Disassembly freeze issue is not fully resolved yet, this patch does improve overall synchronisation between Disassembly systems, reducing the likelihood of freezes. It also introduces the ability to exit Disassembly if you become stuck or frozen, without needing to force-close the game. For most players — especially early or general gameplay — Disassembly should fun…
- Hot Fix for v0.40 - 1 October 2025
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator - Hotfix G’day Scrappers! A quick hotfix has just been rolled out to smooth out a few rough edges and improve the v0.40 experience! 🔧 What’s Fixed Fixed a bug where the game could occasionally freeze when starting a new game or tutorial. Fixed a bug where days advanced an extra day after sleeping. Fixed a bug where inventory values didn’t update when opening it by clicking the bag. Fixed a bug where all scrap yard metal prices displayed as iron price. Tutorial tip boxes under the main task can now be clicked through, making it easier to close UIs behind them. Patch 2; Trolley Interaction Improved: The trolley now has a small cooldown before unlocking attached items when released, preventing items from being affected as it snaps back to its upright position. First Delivery Fixed: The first delivery will no longer be destroyed due to corrupt data after saving and…
- Major Update - v0.40 - 30 September 2025
🔧 Scrapping Simulator v0.40 — Major Update! 🚀 This update brings major reworks to core systems, making disassembly smoother, queuing smarter, and tutorials clearer. Grab your tools and let’s dive in! 🛠 Tool Handler Overhaul The Tool Handler has been completely rebuilt, removing all time/frame-based targeting and movement. There is now a sole event listener that handles and distributes all player actions, rather than the Tool System and Queuing System listening and trying to Steal the first Disassembly Action, all systems now seamlessly flow with each other. The annoying cooldown is gone due to the rework solving the game breaking bug. From interaction to item removal, queuing, and tool handling, the entire disassembly system has been reworked, making it far more responsive, intuitive, and satisfying to use. Let us pay respects to the hair follicles sacrificed during this overhaul. 😅…
- Hot Fix for v0.39 - 10 September 2025

A Hot Fix has just been rolled out to improve your scrapping experience! 🛠 What’s Fixed: Stutter issues while disassembling Crucible display bug showing Gold/Silver Ingots as massive screen tears Potential 16% Saving Bug – this one is tentative; I have made some educated adjustments, and will continue to monitor it. 🎉 What’s New: Queue Stacking for Child Components When a Parent Component is queued or removed, its Child Components can now also be queued for removal. This improvement was made possible thanks to the recent Queue, Component Interaction, and Disassembly reworks. This hot fix is now available on Steam – happy scrapping!

- Data Loss Warning - Coming with Update v0.39 - 5 August 2025
G'day Scrappers! This is just a small little News Post that was Posted to the \ and thought I better also Post it here to reach a wider Scrapping Sim audience; I am making good progress on the next Major Update (v0.39) for Scrapping Simulator, but wanted to bring to light an issue present when Updating! With this update, without spoiling too much, I would like to point out one key issue that WILL be present in v0.39, is that all Chemical Refining Station Data will be Unrecoverable & Lost. Due to the poorly structured system I had designed and developed when first Introducing the Chem Station back in 2021 it has made it Impossible to continue Data Transfers between Updates without keeping the horrid original script(s) fully intact and operational within the game running alongside the new System, which would purely be a recipe for disaster. Due to this, all Players Chemical Refining Data…
- Patches for v0.38 Update - 28 July 2025
🛠️ Scrapping Simulator Patch Notes G’day Scrappers! This small patch comes with stability improvements, QOL Tweaks and Bug Fixes. 🔧 Scrapper Joe’s Item Detection System Overhauled Scrapper Joe’s detection logic has been reworked to more reliably detect items within his trigger zone. No more missed pickups or glitchy drop-offs! 🗑️ Sub E-Waste Tasks Removed Tasks involving Sub E-Waste have been scrapped from the Task Table. These low pay-out chores were more hassle than they were worth. Note: Any previously saved tasks have been revoked and will be re-rolled on next start-up to avoid any bugs or invalid values caused by the updated roll table. 🚛 Expanded Trolley Protection Zone The Trolley now includes a 1.5m x 1.5m safety buffer. This gives players more room to sort and stack their haul without NPCs interfering or grabbing items unexpectedly. ⏱️ Save Lockout After Sleeping To prevent…

- Hotfix for v0.38 v2 - 21 May 2025
G'day Scrappers! v0.38 brought a lot of major improvements — but also some uninvited guests in the form of stubborn bugs. This second hotfix aims to squash the last of them and smooth things out once and for all. You may also notice gone are the extension Versions (ie v0.38'.2') to aid in European and other Regions utilizing Commas (v0,38,2 rather than v0.38.2) being able to play the game without Saving/Loading Issues due to the Version Checker System not being able to Convert Comma Value to Decimal Value. Here’s what’s been fixed in v0.38 v2: 🐛 Fixed Dummy Items being treated like real E-Waste during loading, causing all kinds of issues with disassembly, interactions, and the trolley in some cases. 🔁 Scrapper Joe Tasks will now re-roll correctly should a task load in with an 'Amount' requested being Zero. 🛠️ Fixed Dummy Items not being accepted at Scrapper Joe’s drop-off. ✨ Redesign…

As to be expected with such a large update, a few bugs slipped through the cracks. This hotfix addresses the most urgent issues affecting gameplay and stability. ✅ Hotfix Changes & Fixes: WorldTimeAPI Errors Resolved The game will now abort time-related setup if the external WorldTimeAPI service is down, preventing log spam and unexpected behaviour. Key Interference During Name Setup Fixed Pressing during the start-up tutorial no longer opens the Map UI. → If your name was never properly set, you can use to change it at any time (when not 'Busy'). Tutorial Panel Text Rewritten Most tutorial messages have been reworded to be more compact and clear. Key terms and input prompts now appear highlighted in colour for better visibility. Cash Text Sync Fix Reso…
- Major Update - v0.38 - 11 May 2025
v0.38 Major Update G'day Scrappers! It’s been quite a while since the last update, and I want to start by thanking you for your patience and continued support and hope you are all well. As some of you may remember, I stepped away from development to focus on my mental health and personal life. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was a necessary one — and throughout that time, the community’s understanding has meant more than I can put into words and I cannot thank you all enough. Today, I’m proud (and honestly a little nervous!) to share Update v0.38 — a massive overhaul packed with performance boosts, new features, polish, and quality-of-life improvements. This update marks a major milestone in getting Scrapping Simulator closer to the vision I’ve always had for it. Whether you’re just getting into the game or have been with me since the early builds, I hope this update shows just how m…
