We've been so delighted to hear from players about how much they enjoyed Wheel World, with the soundtrack being consistently brought up as excellent. The music, created by Italians Do It Better artists Johnny Jewel, Orion, and JOON, has become a big part of what people remember about the game and it’s been great to see the community respond to it the way they have. The soundtrack brings so much character to the world and if it left an impression on you too, we’d be grateful if you considered nominating Wheel World for Best Soundtrack in this year’s Steam Awards. Thanks for joining us on this ride, your support truly means everything!

- Инди-версия Tour de France: Обзор Wheel World - 10 August 2025
Tour de France .

- Wheel World review - 23 July 2025
For a low-stakes open world cycling game, Wheel World has a lot of lore. You wake up in the forest and discover a spirit called Skully, a ghost who offers the player a rusty bike and immediately ejects so much fantasy jargon and frontloaded backstory that I started to think it was an intentional joke. Thank Cog (the god of cycling) that this loredumping is not habitual. The rest of the game plays out as a chill and happy-hearted racer in a small but well-crafted world of rolling vineyards, bumpy forests, and honking city streets. It's a short tour, lasting only about five hours, but it's five hours nicely pedalled. Read more
- How Frankenstein bikes inspired Wheel World - 21 July 2025
Hi everyone, Messhof team here - Wheel World was recently featured on the Unity blog, where we spoke about how we used their engine to create the exciting open world you get to roam inside the game:We wanted the world to feel alive but also reflect a bike-oriented culture, so that meant having lots of entities travelling along all manner of roads and trails. To support the world design, we created a ton of tools in Unity. Our custom road-node editor lets us lay down roads and paths quickly, with each road type defined by attributes like texture, width, lane count, traffic rules, and speed limits. Terrain between roads is generated using a mix of noise samples and hand-authored topological detail using hint meshes. You can check out the blog here. And remember, Wheel World releases soon! You can grab the game for its launch discount on July 23, so get ready to save the world with the powe…
- Designing an Open World for Bike Heaven - 10 July 2025
Hey,I’m Mark Essen, creative director at Messhof. We’re really excited for you to jump into Wheel World when it launches later this month on July 23. We’ve been working on it for years, and it’s finally almost ready. At its heart, Wheel World is a game about riding bikes through a giant open world, finding secrets, collecting weird parts, and building your dream ride. Early on we tried all kinds of ideas: delivery missions, long-distance rides with stamina management, hill climbs. But what stuck with us the most was the feeling of spotting AI cyclists on the road, drafting behind them, and timing your slingshot to leapfrog forward. It felt good every time. Racing is a big part of the game, but it’s not the whole picture. This world is full of people who ride for fun, not just to win. Each neighborhood has its own local legends who ride the roads nearby. We wanted the game to feel informa…

- This open world bicycling game from the developer of Nidhogg is so chill that 'you don't really have to do any of the challenges if you don't want to' - 24 February 2025
For me, open world games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2 really only peak when I've fought my way through the missions and completed the main story and there's not much left to do except… doing whatever the heck I want. Sometimes that's making sure I've explored every single inch of the map, sometimes it's completing a few activities to 100%, but often it's just cruising around and taking in the sights... Read more.

- Nidhogg studio 're-reveals' its new project: A stylish action-exploration game where you race bicycles and save the world - 17 October 2024
Back in 2023, Nidhogg developer Messhof unveiled its new game, a stylish racing game called Ghost Bike that sets players off on a quest to revive the the last of the Ghost Bikes, "magical couriers who rode between the world of the living and the world of the dead." Ghost Bike was re-revealed during today's Xbox showcase with a new title— Wheel World —and, sorry to say, a new, more distant release date: Instead of coming out this year as planned, it's now set for release in early 2025... - Goodbye Ghost Bike, Hello Wheel World! - 17 October 2024
Hello there! Mark and Kristy from Messhof here. Been a while since we chatted, huh? Hope you’re doing alright! We’re coming up for air today to share some big news for our next game. “Ghost Bike” has been renamed, “Wheel World” This game represents a number of firsts for our studio. It’s of course our first 3D game, which also makes it our first game made with Unity. It’s our first game using a physics library, our first game made with a big team and hence our first game funded by a publisher, and our first game with a real narrative (with characters and dialogue boxes even!). The gameplay in Wheel World has gone through a number of iterations in terms of gameplay and structure, and the narrative has had to adapt along the way. At the point last year when it felt right to announce the project, we came up with the name Ghost Bike based on where the narrative was. It was a game about dyin…
