- Stray publisher Annapurna Interactive's "entire" gaming staff reportedly resigns after independence negotiations break down - 13 September 2024
All 25 members of staff on the gaming team at Annapurna Interactive - publisher of acclaimed indies like Outer Wilds , Stray and Neon White - have reportedly resigned after talks to spin-off the division as an "independent entity" broke down. According to a report from Bloomberg , corroborated by IGN , Annapurna president of interactive and new media Hector Sanchez has reassured partner developers that the company will continue its existing contracts. The report states that Annapurna Interactive President Nathan Gary and his team had been negotiating with Annapurna Pictures owner Megan Ellison over spinning off the gaming division into "independent entity", with Ellison pulling out of these negotiations at some juncture. Ten new indie games are coming to Xbox Game Pass following a rollercaoster of a not-E3 season. Each have varying release dates, but as some of the more hotly anticipated smaller games announced right now, it's worth keeping an eye out for them when they eventually drop. Betrayal at Club Low just won the Seumas Mcnally Grand Prize at the 2023 Independent Games Festival Awards, beating out some brillaint competition in Immortality, Neon White, Not For Broadcast, The Case of the Golden Idol, and Tunic. It joins a star-studden collection of indie greats like Her Story, Outer Wilds, Minecraft, and Return of the Obra Dinn. The awards show ran just ahead of the Developers Choice Awards which will be annoucning its own selection of winners later today. It was a killer line up, with some truly brilliant indie games remaining in the honourable mentions section including Citizen Sleep and Terra Nil among others. - Neon White, the stylish speedrunning FPS for Switch and PC, finally has a release date - 10 June 2022
Although Neon White was first announced during a Nintendo Direct in February of last year, the title was finally given a release date of June 16 at the Summer Game Fest. That's super soon. Neon White will be available for PC and Switch as of next week, and is published by Annapurna Interactive, the publisher behind various successful and intricate indies, including Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Donut County. It also just so happens that the esteemed developer behind award-winning Donut County, Ben Esposito, has teamed up with Angel Matrix to create Neon White.
