• Version 10 Update (to be released in Early 2022) - 6 December 2021

  Check out the new Boxscore Viewer for Version 10! Over the last month I have been working hard on a new Boxscore Viewer for V10, and I have to say I have never been so excited about a new feature in a long time. V10 will be equipped with a Boxscore Viewer search utility that can search for a collection of boxscores that meet detailed criteria. Here are only a few examples: Search for all games where Philadelphia was the winning team Find boxscores where Philadelphia beat Atlanta and scored more than 5 runs Find all Atlanta games in July where Freeman hit at least one HR and Morton got the GS and the W Find all division rival, back and forth, come from behind, walk-off victories This will be a great tool to use when researching the past before playing a game. • Version 10 Update - Game Summaries - 17 November 2021

  Just a quick update on Version 10. Right now we are working on a new Game Summaries feature. This new feature generates text-based summaries of each game and will be available everywhere a boxscore is provided. Like play-by-play, this feature is fully customizable by the user. You can even create game summary templates that will be used for specific teams. We are in the early stages right now, but I wanted to share with you a few screenshots. Over the next few months I will be creating more and more templates that will result in rich variety of summaries.

• Announcing the 2021 Playoff Library! - 6 November 2021

  This library contains ten 2021 playoff teams, with active rosters containing players that appeared in at least one postseason game. In addition, the manager profiles for each team contain the actual lineups that were used during the postseason. These lineups can be loaded directly by clicking on the Profile button when selecting the starting lineups. It is recommended that the library be played as follows: The Postseason Page should be used to generate the playoff schedules. In addition, the library is installed with the wild card games already on the calendar. Users should continue to use the Postseason Page to schedule the remainder of the postseason games once the wild card games are completed. Games are intended to be played or watched manually. • Let's Get Started on Version 10! - 18 October 2021

  Since the release of V9 I have worked hard to complete 24 updates over the past 7 months. These updates have included important bug fixes, as well as several great new game features. Thanks to everyone for the fantastic feedback -- your input has driven the direction of Digital Diamond Baseball. The good news is that development on Version 10 begins today! This is the earliest I have been able to start working on the upcoming version. Don't worry, this does not mean that I will stop supporting V9. I will continue to release patches for V9 to fix any troublesome bugs that are reported. But, in the background I will be working on the release of Version 10, which is scheduled for sometime in March. • The 2021 Season Library (early release) Is Now Available! - 16 October 2021

  The 2021 Season Library (early release) is now available! This release consists of opening day rosters, real-life transactions (4,939 of them), left/right batting and pitching splits, updated ballparks and park factors, updated team colors, and the original 2021 schedule. This is an early release because it is missing the as-played schedule and lineups. This library will be updated as soon as the as-played data are available via Retrosheet (expected in late November). So grab some snacks and dig into this exciting new library! Up next... a 2021 Postseason Library (anticipated a few days after the World Series). Play ball! NOTE: Be sure that you have updated to version 9.2.4 before installing this library.

• Version 9.2.4 Released! - 15 October 2021

  This release contains a few small updates to support the upcoming release of the 2021 Season Library. The following updates are part of this release: Minor improvements to lineup generation algorithm. Minor improvements to baseball reference importer. Minor improvements to transaction importer. Increased the number of pitchers allowed in bullpen profile section. Improved code that calculates batter and pitcher usage.

• 2021 Season Library (early release) Coming Soon! - 11 October 2021

  A quick update. We are working on the 2021 Season Library. An early release will be ready this week. This release will have everything that the other season libraries have (e.g., real-life transactions, L/R splits, etc.) except for the as-played lineups. We are waiting for Retrosheet to publish their Game Logs for 2021, which typically happens around Thanksgiving. As soon as the Game Logs are released, we will update the 2021 library accordingly. We are also trying something different this year. We will be creating a 2021 playoff library that contains playoff rosters and actual lineups for the entire 2021 postseason. This should be available about a week after the 2021 World Series. Play Ball!

  The following updates are included in this release: Changes made to support the upcoming 2021 season library. Improvements to the CM logic used to pick relievers. Improvements to the CM logic used to determine when to pinch hit for a starter that is not tired. Improvements to the CM logic used to make defensive replacements.   This release contains the following enhancements and bug fixes: Improvements made to the algorithm used to select pinch hitters. Added a new option to set a limit for starting pitcher durability. The default value is 140 pitches. This option is only relevant for old-time seasons. Modern season libraries are very unlikely to have pitchers that reach this limit. Added a new mode to the Edit Managers dialog box. This mode is called Quick Watch and it will set both team managers to Computer and allow you to watch just the next plate appearance. After the plate appearance (or when there is a wild pitch, passed ball, or successful steal) both managers will automatically be set to Human. The hot key for this is q. • Announcing the 1980 Decade All Time Teams Library! - 4 September 2021

  We are happy to announce the addition of the 1980s to our Decade All Time Teams series of libraries. There are some great teams in this library, including the 1986 New York Mets 108 win season, the Oakland A's 104 game season in 1988, and the Tigers 1984 104 victory effort. This library contains 26 teams, one for each franchise that fielded a team during the 1980-1989 decade. For each franchise, the team with the best record during the 1980-1989 decade was included in this library. Because there are no real-life transactions associated with an all-time teams library, injuries were enabled to spice things up a bit. There are several ways to enjoy this library. Here are just a few ideas: Pick your favorite team and replay the season. Then auto generate the postseason and pick a playoff team to manage through the postseason.   This update consists of the following bug fixes: BUGFIX: Fixed an issue that sometimes caused an invalid lineup, missing player, or error message when manually pinch hitting. BUGFIX: Fixed an issue with the CM when the three batter rule is in effect. The issue resulted in the CM sometimes using a pitcher that is not rested enough to have a chance of facing the required two or three batters without getting tired. BUGFIX: Fixed a bug that prevented the creation of a postseason with more than 8 rounds. BUGFIX: Corrected a glitch with the "Home Runs" section of the Special Events Report. Specifically, in the park home runs were showing up in this section, and they should only be listed in the "In The Park Home Runs" section. BUGFIX: Adjusted the game engine error logic to improve the accuracy of simulated errors. BUGFIX: Corrected some spelling errors.

  This release contains the following new features and bug fixes: NEW FEATURE: The postseason page now allows up to 12 rounds. NEW FEATURE: The postseason page now allows the user to create series with teams that have lost in an earlier round. NEW FEATURE: It is now possible to fully rest pitchers from the Browse Players Page. This can be done for selected pitchers or all pitchers in the library. NEW FEATURE: Pickoff plays are now slightly more likely against left handed pitchers and slightly less likely against right handed pitchers. NEW FEATURE: Specifying -1 for the 'Shelled' option will increase the chance a pitcher will get shelled status as the number of runs allowed advances beyond 5. • 2021 Library Updated! - 12 July 2021

  I just posted an updated version of the 2021 library! This library contains the 2021 season with stats up to the All-Star Break (7-11-21). This library also contains estimated transactions and custom player ratings. I recommend using this library to replay the first half of the season, and then at the end of the real-life season, update this library with stats through the second half of the season and replay the second half of the season. NOTE: The transactions in this library are estimated based on weekly stat imports. These transactions are not the actual transactions. If you do not wish to use these estimated transactions you can delete them using the Transaction Editor. If you do this you should also use the View/Browse Players Page to add all players to the opening day roster, and then you should restart the season. Enjoy!
