- A shooter we called 'one of the boldest, freshest games' of 2023 is getting a sequel: El Paso, Elsewhere 2 sends a slo-mo vampire into the void - 7 June 2026
El Paso, Elsewhere is an acclaimed indie gem—dropping in 2023, PC Gamer contributor Dominic Tarason called it "one of the boldest, freshest games of the year" —it followed the harrowing adventures of one James Savage as he slow-mo shot his way through a reality-warped 46-story subterranean motel filled with vampires, werewolves, and other nasties... - Excellent bullet time shooter El Paso Elsewhere is getting a sequel - 20 February 2025
Max Payne is easily one of the most videogamey videogames of all time. It's pulpy, it's stylish, and there probably isn't a better mechanic in any other shooter than its slow-motion bullet time. Well, maybe the time travel sequence from Titanfall 2, but that's only for one section of the game. So when El Paso, Elsewhere was announced way back in 2021, a supernatural, vampire-focused take on the Max Payne formula, I was immediately intrigued. The third-person shooter eventually released back in 2023, and quickly proved itself to be pretty popular, but I have to admit it left me wanting more. Luckily, it looks like my wish has been granted. Read the rest of the story... RELATED LINKS: This Max Payne successor comes with a supernatural hip-hop album

- Hollywood's next video game adaptation? A Max Payne inspired shooter where your ex is a vampire hellbent on destroying the world - 23 April 2024
Video game movies aren't just for the big names it seems, as the indie Max Payne-like El Paso, Elsewhere is next up on the adaptation train. We really are in the era of video game movies. Superhero movies are still around, sure, but post Avenger's: Endgame it's becoming clearer and clearer that there's plenty of strong stories to tap into in the world of video games. We've got your heavy hitters like the upcoming, odd Knuckles series and third Sonic film, as well as the star-studded Minecraft movie . Now even indie titles are getting a taste of the limelight, as earlier this month it was announced that the horror fishing game Dredge would be getting a live-action adaptation . Announced yesterday, though, is the latest indie title to be heading to the film yesterday: El Paso, Elsewhere. You might not have heard of El Paso, Elsewhere before, but you'll definitely find something familiar i…
- El Paso, Elsewhere, a Max Payne-inspired shooter about keeping your vampire ex-lover from destroying the world, is being made into a movie - 22 April 2024
The Max Payne movie really sucked. It sucked so bad that I can't remember a thing about it even though I'm pretty sure I watched it, a bit of selective amnesia that I assume is my brain protecting me from the trauma of seeing my beloved Max done so dirty. But that's not keeping the team behind El Paso, Elsewhere from taking a run at the big screen: A Variety report says the Max Payne-inspired indie shooter is being made into a movie of its own... Heeeeello there! Here's a brand new patch for El Paso, Elsewhere and, with it, a brand new patch changelog! - The Steam Awards 2023 - Nominate El Paso, Elsewhere - 22 November 2023
Dear friends, It’s been an exciting year for Strange Scaffold, and we’re so grateful for our fans helping us reach Overwhelmingly Positive status. We have one more, small ask as the light starts to fade on this year. We are asking for your help in nominating El Paso, Elsewhere for a Steam Award in the Outstanding Story-Rich Game category. We know you like the shooting, the vampires, the werewolves… maybe not the Puppeteers… but you really love the storycraft and voice acting in our little game. The sordid saga of James Savage and Draculae has touched a place deep inside you (so much that one reviewer described us as “Max Payne for Monster F**ers”). Well, we’re asking you to lean into that last part and help our twisted tale take home a coveted nomination. Thank you in advance, and keep on slaying!
- Overwhelmingly Positive - Thank You! - 21 November 2023
The reviews are in! Thanks to your support, El Paso, Elsewhere has been rated Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam Thank you, sincerely. We couldn't have reached this point without you rating the game, telling your friends about the game, and, of course, playing the game. Thank you so much for coming with us on this one way trip—we can’t wait to bring you on more in the future. As a marker of our gratitude, we’ve just added a Theater Mode to the game! Watch every cutscene you’ve unlocked, in any order you like, back to back, as many times as you want. Sometimes, you need a few watches to appreciate that you saw a werewolf in that fuckin’ bathroom – and trust us, we get it.
- Nov. 7 - Hotfix (current version: v9) - 7 November 2023
