• Playtest for the next update - 9 September 2023

  We're hosting a playtest from September 15th @ 12AM PDT to September 16th @ 11:59PM PDT. We would love for anyone interested to participate in the playtest. We want to have players test the new features and provide feedback on our Discord server. If you find any bugs or think something needs work, we'd love to hear it! How to participate Requesting access is as simple as clicking the button on the store page! Once the playtest starts, access will be granted and you can install / play the game. If you already have access, you won't be able to install the game until the event starts. You do not need to request access again.

• Transitioning from Free to Paid - 31 August 2023

  Greetings Chipsters! We have some important news to share regarding Paint Chips. We've taken quite a long hiatus on this project and have recently returned to continue development. With a lot of internal discussion we've decided to transition to a paid model starting October 1st, 2023. The game will cost $14.99. Why the change? The biggest problem with our game is the lack of players online. The original idea of releasing the game for free was to allow anyone to download and try it out. Being a game you don't have to pay for also seems to include it being a game you don't have to care about. According to our data from release up to the date of this post, only about 10% of players continued playing past their third match (roughly 10 minutes of playtime), and only about 5% continued past their tenth match (~30 minutes). That means 90% of players who tried the game have played it for less…

• Minor Patch - Steam Deck Compatibility - 2 May 2023

  I've been putting off controller support for some time, so have decided to release what I have to help out players that like to play on Steam Deck. This update adds a little bit of controller support, so players on Steam Deck or a gamepad should have a slightly more enjoyable experience. Also for Steam Deck / Linux users, I've fixed the 'Quit' buttons so it actually closes the game now instead of freezing up. For whatever reason, Unity doesn't like to close on Linux machines using the regular method of quitting the application, so I had to add a workaround. There are also a few small additions, such as a small effect on your feet if you're currently standing in friendly paint. There may be some other small things I'm forgetting, but that's all for now!   This update is a small one, but adds two new maps for you all to play on! 'One Fish Lake' is a regular sized map with the grass theme, featuring a large fish-shaped lake. 'The Menagerie' is a small map, showcasing various pets locked away behind bars for your viewing pleasure. These maps are not locked to any season and will always be available. We've also added a few Halloween items to the Item Shop, go buy them! Development is slowing down a little bit on Paint Chips for now, but we hope to pick things back up again sometime soon.
