- Small Patch 1.1.1 - 27 April 2024
This is a small update today, mainly to fix a few bugs and QOL issues reported by players. So lets get right to it! - There was a soft lock bug with splitting cards when you don't have a legacy card. This effected many players in the prologue, who found the game soft locked after splitting a card. This issue should now be resolved. -Fixed an issue with negative choices remaining in the various offerings and a soft lock bug related to this. - Some players reported that they lost a great legacy card because they entered the next run too quickly and were stuck with playing the Scholar instead of playing the last character. Now, when returning to the Character Select menu, it will default to the last played character instead of the Scholar. -Added new combat music for the bounty enemy fight. Neil Quillen did a fantastic job with this new music track! You should hear it when you are fighting…
- Prologue map node visual update - 11 April 2024
Minor visual update to the map nodes in the prologue, which were off screen in the prologue because of a bug related to the challenge mode update.
- Softlock Fixes - 11 April 2024
So yesterday's update had a couple of issues that we are fixing in this update. The are as follows: 1. There is a certain offering that had an issue with the updated offering state we made yesterday. Some players were stuck in a soft lock state if they went to this offering and accepted any card. But this issue is now resolved, and players should be able to pick up where they left off. 2. Some players noticed that challenge mode was not unlocked for them by default if they had already made progress towards the Possessed. This has been fixed, and you should see this mode unlocked if you have made any progress. 3. Our beautiful designer modified the energy costs of a certain Possessed card called "Remember The Lost". This is all fine and good, but he forgot to remove this card from the multiclass offerings. So some players were offered this, and said YES! Some players then discovered that…
- Challenge Mode - 10 April 2024
Hi everyone, and welcome to the next update! We have been discussing the difficulty concerns with Mori Carta will be taking steps to address the issues. This will be the first in a series of updates we plan to do. So I will get straight into the updates. Challenge Mode Currently, the game goes from the prologue, which was designed to teach players the basic strategies of Mori Carta (get block and keep some energy), to the open pool of enemies. This can be extremely jarring and frustrating for players who were challenged in the prologue, then experienced an exponential growth in difficulty when leaving the prologue. So we partitioned the current experience after the prologue into what we are calling challenge mode. This mode is the same as the current post prologue run. But now, players will begin in normal mode, which has increased rewards, certain enemies removed from the pool, and doe…

- Endless Library, Endless Updates - 27 March 2024
So, yeah... Endless Library, right? We know, we know. We heard you and decided to make it exhaust on the left. Hopefully this will make the card more usable. Experiment with it and see what you can make for yourself. Also, while we were doing this update, we decided to fix a couple of other things. There was a bug when using the arrow keys in the swap offering, where you couldn't send the cards up with the up arrow after the first one. This issue has now been resolved and the arrow keys should function properly. Keyboard and gamepad controls didn't work on the bounty screen at all. How embarrassing! When we implemented that system, we forgot to check for those controls. Well now they should be working properly. Also I should mention here that we don't currently have full keyboard and gamepad controls for the whole game. That will be coming soon in a later update. Stay tuned for that. Th…
- Save File Bug & Recovery - 26 March 2024
Hey there everybody! It has come to our attention that the 1.0 build this morning had a bug that would reset a players save file. We patched it within an hour, but if you played before then, your save file was reset. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused for our Early Access members. At this time if you reach out to us through Discord or email we are restoring lost save files. It may not be a perfect recovery, but we will work with you to get back your lost time. We will ask you to provide information about your progress, the more specific you are the better we can recover your progress. Please don't hesitate to reach out. And again, we apologize if this happened to you. It was our mistake. Best, Seth "SingingSwordsman" Cornwall
- Update for split swap cards - 26 March 2024
One more launch update for today. This one is super minor and most of you probably won't even notice the change, but it's important to us that we address the feedback we get from you, our players. Know that we read all of the feedback that you send us. We appreciate all of your support! - Fixed a bug with swapping a split card. Our formula for comparing cards had some trouble when it came to cards that were split. As a result, half of the time when you swap a card that was split, it would swap the wrong one. But this has now been resolved and cards should be swapped correctly. - Fixed a minor bug with the archive view. When you open the archive view during a run, it will default to the tab of your current archetype. However, if you clicked on the Scholar's tab, nothing would happen. This has been resolved and you will see the Scholar cards update now. - There were a few other bug fixes…

- Performance Hotfix - 21 March 2024
Hey all! We’ve got another small patch for you today. Here’s the list: Art Updates! Several Background environments saw improvement with the biggest glow ups being the Mountain and Underwater scenes. Check um out! Character Icons were updated A smattering of cards received new art, with more to come before 1.0! Performance Improvements! This change aims to resolve issues with large deck sizes. We want to stop the game from slowing down when you add 100 Blades to your awesome blade deck. The Character Select Screen now highlights the Player Ability. The UI for Player vs. Enemy cards in the deck was improved to better correlate those numbers to the deck. Some Trickster cards were balanced to encourage play while in the Lucky Seven state. We’re deeply excited to come into a 1.0 version of Mori Carta in just a few short days. Looking forward to sharing it with you all!
- Bounty System Update - 15 March 2024
Hey there all you Mori Cartians! We’re back with another update. To be honest, we have been a little quiet on the update front because we’ve got some exciting news: Mori Carta will be leaving Early Access on March 25th! That’s right! In just 10 short days we will be putting our best foot forward with a release into 1.0. We wanted to update you with a sneak peak of what’s to come. Let’s get started talking about this patch! New Features: Bounty System: We felt that the previous system with the map was fine, but it lacked a sense of cohesion with the rest of the game. We listened to our players and decided that we wanted a system that felt more like the offerings. So we created something that we believe suits the design of Mori Carta better than the previous system, and provides more information to the player so they can make strategic decisions. Players can now choose several ‘bounty’ en…

- Random Archetype and Max Upgrade - 2 February 2024
Today we are releasing a small patch with some minor updates to the card effect pool. We added two new effects which we will use to design more cards. So far, there are only two cards that use these effects, but more will be coming soon. Random Archetype Card - This effect will add random cards from your archetype to your combat deck. We modified Ponder on the Scholar to use this instead of the discard effect. Max Upgrade - This effect will upgrade a card to the very top tier, instead of upgrading to the next tier like the normal upgrade effect. A Scholar card with this effect called Rapid Research, was added. Many more cards with these effects will be added soon! Also fixed a minor bug with reshuffling randomness in cases where the player doesn't have any quick cards.
- Quest Update - 19 January 2024
Hey all! We got another patch for you! There are bug fixes, card changes, features and more! Check it out and let us know what you think by replying here on Steam or in our Discord! We’ve got a new feature: Quests! We’re bringing in a first pass at this new map node type to let players have a bit more options in their routing. This also helps to address an oddity that we were noticing with rewards and healing. Quests are another way to find healing and other rewards during your run! Where healing rewards felt like they were often a necessity, Quests are an added complication in a fight with a sweet, sweet reward at the end! They are in a very early state, so who knows where exactly quests will land. But we anticipate this to be a good change in favor of the player! Some other features in no particular order: A new card effect was added, Permanently Add. This effect is currently only fou…

- The Mighty Update - 6 January 2024
In our continued effort to make the game more fair and interesting, we proudly present a new card effect, Enemy Might! Enemy might will allow us to create both friendly and enemy cards that increase the stakes of a fight without directly hitting you. We intend to do a lot more with this effect, but for now we made some new enemies and modified some friendly cards. We also did a pass on many friendly cards, mostly on the Trickster, in an effort to balance the game. Here is a short list of some of the changes in this update. - Enemy Might added to the pool of card effects! - Many cards on the Trickster that add cards were made slow. Arrow Traps Big Bag Bottomless Bag Distract Jagged Bag Mossy Distillation Stockpile III Trifold - Several Trickster cards received negative enemy might as an alternative defensive option to dodge and riposte Ridicule Sapping Shiv Sapping Strike Serpent Shade T…
- Dec 18th update - 18 December 2023
Legacy upgrade cards inherit the speed of the base legacy card. Trickster 7 state applies to Legacy, Companion, and multiclass cards. Fixed bug with Ravenous Steward fight not starting. Fixed bug where some normal nodes had elite enemies. Adjusted fight rewards. Certain rewards like swaps and splits will not appear until later in the run.
- Lucky Update - 16 December 2023
That's right, another update today! In line with the previous update, we are trying to make the game more fair. This update addresses concerns about class abilities. We wanted to make playing the Trickster more fair, so we decided to change the Trickster's ability, Lucky 7. Now, the 7 state will only effect Trickster cards, or cards override by the Trickster's abilities. This means that being at 7 will not double effects from enemy cards, curse cards, legacy cards, or multiclass cards. 7s are just for the Trickster. We hope that this change makes playing the Trickster more fun, and most importantly, more fair. Also, we changed some other cards with fairness in mind. - Heavy Swing values were cut in half. - Bludgeon is now slow. - Bloated Boa enemy was completely redesigned. - Fire Breath costs more to keep at level one, but is cheaper to downgrade. - One with Aether was completely chang…
