We have decided to cover several new terrains, from vast agricultural plains to built-up areas and towns, tropical rainforests, pristine beaches, and industrial estates. In the same vein as the European battlefields of the WARNO’s base game, all the maps have been inspired by the real landscapes and locations of Cuba. We have taken the due diligence to update them to the unique gameplay requirements of WARNO, ensuring not only realism in terrain but also plentiful tactical options…

Let’s see what has changed, or has been added, to this “unpronounceable” Instructor-heavy battlegroup. Nemesis #8 - School’s Out! You can find all the juicy details and full unit and category breakdown of both divisions in this DevBlog. Verfügungstruppenkommando 42 in Brief So, the Verfügungstruppenkommando 42 is NATO’s West German ba…

That means it's high time we took another look at Nemesis #8 - School’s Out!’s two divisions, checking out their latest models, and see if (and what) has changed since the original proposal late last year. First up is the Warsaw Pact’s 71-ya Zapasnaya Tankovaya Diviziya or 71st Reserve Tank Division. Let’s go! Nemesis #8 - School’s Out! Let’s refresh some memories. - Miscellaneous Update plus Ranked Season 5 Vote - 9 July 2026
Hello commanders, We hope you are well! As we finished with our WARNO - Tropic Storm previews last week, and we are getting into the summer period, today’s DevBlog will be a mixed bag of little bits and other news bops. From WARNO - Tropic Storm’s after-summer release, to new models, fast-tracked Nemesis #8 - School’s Out!, and Season 5 Ranked Vote… There's lots to unpack. Let’s go. WARNO - Tropic Storm Release As you might have guessed, WARNO - Tropic Storm won’t be released before early September. This is partly due to several new units added to the Army General campaign, which wasn’t initially planned, increasing the scope of work that needed to be done which also includes the usual dialogue and voice acting. However, we are not slowing down, as you can see with the new models previewed further below. While these were not ready when their respective divisions were highlighted, they h…
- Tropic Storm Army General Campaign - Cuba Libre! - 2 July 2026
Hello commanders, good to have you back! Today’s DevBlog is the last of the Tropic Storm previews. While we highlighted each of the six new divisions in the previous posts, the new massive Army General campaign Cuba Libre! gets the spotlight in today’s DevBlog. Let’s go! WARNO - Tropic Storm’s Strategic Situation A quick recap of WARNO - Tropic Storm’s overall strategic situation. As you should know by now, the new expansion’s theatre of operations is in the Caribbean and the northern coast of South America. We have set the timeline slightly ahead of the “European War” of WARNO the base game, in the spring of 1989. A coup by Hugo Chávez during a period of riots and demonstrations against an unpopular Venezuelan government succeeds in the early part of 1989, with deep covert backing by communist Cuba and the Soviet Union. Taken aback by the sudden appearance of a “red” and hostile Venezu…
- Tropic Storm Division #6 - I División de Infantería - 25 June 2026
Comandantes! We return with the final WARNO - Tropic Storm divisional preview. In today’s DevBlog, we give you another “red” Venezuelan battlegroup, the I División de Infantería! ¡Al ataque! The Venezuelan I División de Infantería’s History The I División de Infantería, or the 1st Infantry Division of the Ejército Nacional (Venezuelan National Army), can trace its lineage back to 1821. It was in this year that the “Primera División”, or First Division, was established by the famous South American commander Simon Bolivar during the War of Independence. That same year, the formation played a major role in the victory at Carabobo, which led to Venezuela's independence (as part of Gran Colombia) from Spanish colonial rule. Reorganized many times since, the I División de Infantería was in 1977 based in Maracaibo and given responsibility for the northwestern part of the country, bordering Col…
- Tropic Storm Division #5 - 3ª Divisão de Exército - 18 June 2026
Bem-vindo, commanders! Another week, another DevBlog, and once again, we’ll present to you a WARNO - Tropic Storm division preview. In today’s post, a new nation gets its chance to shine: the Brazilian and Western-aligned 3ª Divisão de Exército or 3rd Army Division. Para a frente! Brazillian Military History Before we continue, a little bit about the Forças Armadas Brasileiras, or Brazilian Armed Forces of the late 1980s. With a long military history, from the first Empire of Brazil to participating in World War II, the Brazilian Armed Forces were well funded and equipped during the Cold War. Brazil, as a nation, experienced frequent military-led juntas and dictatorships. For most of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, it was under prolonged military control following a coup d'état in 1964 that ended the so-called Fourth Republic. During this period, Brazil had five military presidents, with the a…
- Tropic Storm - Maps Preview - 11 June 2026
Welcome back, commanders! In today’s DevBlog, we’ll get a new lay of the land and survey a bunch of exciting new environments and maps coming courtesy of the upcoming major expansion, WARNO - Tropic Storm! Onwards! Cuba: A New Operational Setting For the first time, with WARNO - Tropic Storm, we’ll move away from the familiar battlefields of Western Europe and instead introduce the beguiling, palm-fronted tropical environs of communist Cuba. It’s not only a massive ocean-jumping shift in location but also in atmosphere and a very important step in Eugen’s artistic and technical work and expertise. Putting the “Tropic” into WARNO - Tropic Storm meant a new goal of delivering exotic, contrasting, and lush visuals, while still maintaining the tactical readability of the landscape. It also allowed us to explore a completely new set of environments with tropical coastlines, large industrial…
- Tropic Storm Division #4 - IV División de Infantería - 4 June 2026
Hola commandantes, Let’s get tropicalizado! In today’s DevBlog, we focus on the upcoming WARNO - Tropic Storm “red” Venezuelan IV División de Infantería, or 4th Infantry Division. Vamos, chamos! The IV División de Infantería’s History Alright, let’s rewind a bit. In our WARNO - Tropic Storm alternative history, Venezuela changes “sides” in a daring coup d'etat by the hands of Hugo Chavez in the spring of 1989. He immediately switches the Fuerza Armada Nacional or Venezuelan Armed Forces to the communist side. As Moscow and Havana become close friends with Caracas (much to Washington’s dismay), the South American country's military suddenly becomes a force to be reckoned with. At the end of the Cold War, Venezuela had the best-equipped and arguably most powerful army in South America, thanks to the river of petrodollars, which allowed the nation to do its “grocery” shopping at some of th…

Bringing…
- v193438: Patch notes - 3 June 2026
SMG / Carbine Rework Submachine guns were underperforming in the situations where they are meant to excel. This update reworks them to give SMGs a more prominent role in close-quarters combat (CQB). Overall, the MP5’s effectiveness was used as a benchmark. SMGs are now divided into three categories: Old SMGs, Modern SMGs, and Carbines (with the VSS treated separately). Old and Modern SMGs are less affected by movement penalties, emphasizing their high mobility. Modern SMGs benefit from higher accuracy and higher outputs overall. Carbines got the better precision, and deliver higher damage output, but provide less suppression than modern SMGs, due to their lower mobility and more controlled rate of fire. The VSS achieves maximum suppression when stationary, but performs poorly while moving. Code fixes Fixed the "Military Police" trait not working correctly. Added an error message when en…
- Tropic Storm Division #3 - 7th Infantry Division (Light) - 28 May 2026
Hello commanders, Welcome back - once again - to a brand-new WARNO - Tropic Storm division preview! In today’s DevBlog, we’ll put the spotlight on the second Western-aligned battlegroup: the U.S. 7th Infantry Division (Light) with its substantial Colombian contingent (plus some shadowy CIA black ops units). Read on! The 7th Infantry Division (Light)’s History The military history of the U.S. 7th Division dates back to World War I, to be exact, when the formation was first activated. Made up of (mostly) fighting men from California, the division saw action at the tail end of the war in France before being deactivated. Reactivated in 1940 before the United States entered into World War II, the 7th Division was reorganized as a light division in 1943, and was originally planned to be deployed to North Africa (and then Europe). Plans change, and instead, after some much-needed training in a…
- Nemesis #7 - Showcase Update - 21 May 2026
Hello all, We break our regular WARNO - Tropic Storm DevBlog schedule with a small Nemesis #7 - State of Emergency interlude. Let’s have a look at a showcase of the next upcoming mini-DLC for WARNO (which should be right around the corner). Onwards! Nemesis #7 - State of Emergency Nemesis #7 - State of Emergency is one of our “chosen” DLC options, pre-selected to speed up development. With the theme being defensive battlegroups tasked with protecting the state’s vital infrastructure and “rule of law”, we have already previewed Nemesis #7 - State of Emergency’s two battlegroups: The NATO battlegroup is the French Zone de Défense - Paris, filled with military police and several exotic units, tasked with defending the City of Light. The Soviet offering is the DON-100 battlegroup, an internal security division active on the southern frontier of the USSR. In Nemesis #7 - State of Emergency y…
- Tropic Storm Division #2 - 1a División de Tanques - 14 May 2026
Commandantes! Welcome back to another glorious WARNO - Tropic Storm division preview. In today’s blog, we’ll look at the very first South American Communist-aligned battlegroup: the Cuban 1a División de Tanques or 1st Tank Division. That’s right: Cuba is one of the four major new nations to make their appearance in WARNO. ¡Hasta la victoria siempre! Recent Cuban History The Cuban 1a División de Tanques was in fact the only armored formation in the communist Cuban military, and as such, was more commonly known as the División de Tanques. But let’s rewind a bit. Cuba occupies an interesting place in the political and military history of the Western Hemisphere. Being physically located so close to the United States (around 150km at its, the former Spanish colony was always thought to be firmly in America’s sphere of influence, at least for the first half of the 20th century. Ruled by autho…
