You do that by: > selecting the Save Slot you wish to play > selecting "Load Game" > selecting an autosave to try We've also fixed an issue in Chapter 5 where Jot would lose his sword There's a graphical bug which is causing a faint line to appear on some pages of the book. Happy holidays and happy gaming!
- Version 1.15.1 adding Streamlined Mode! - 11 December 2024
Hello Squires! We’ve added a brand new mode to The Plucky Squire in today’s update. In Streamlined Mode, you’ll play through Jot’s adventures at a quicker tempo! We’ve been looking at the feedback about the game, and one of the points that came up was that the pacing was a little too slow for some players. Enter: Streamlined Mode! Streamlined Mode Streamlined mode is intended for more experienced players who want less guidance and more action. For example! A door unlocks - do you really need the game to stop and the camera to pan over and look at it opening? Maybe not! In Streamlined Mode, it doesn’t! This is one of the many examples of reduced guidance. We’ve cut some fat from the dialogue in Streamlined Mode - a line here, a line there... It’s not like we’ve hacked away entire scenes, just trimmed bits for a more…streamlined…experience. We’ve also added speech bubble portraits to keep…

- The Plucky Squire review - 26 September 2024
Kids today don’t know how good they’ve got it. Sure, the planet’s on fire and they’ll spend most of their future looking after me in a retirement home as I ramble about how good I used to be at Balatro , but have you seen the games they’ve been getting lately? Back in my day, children’s games were dismal 3D platformer movie tie-ins—not magical storybook adventures made with real love and care that ingeniously riff on 2D Zelda, yet also have tons of personality all of their own. Bah!.. Read more.
- A Lucrative Merchandise Tie-In and Mini-Doc - 25 September 2024
As we work on our next update with more improvements and fixes, our friends at Devolver Digital have been busy! They have just released a short film about the development of The Plucky Squire. It's especially meaningful to us since this is our studio's first game. You'll see our founders, Jamie and Bidds, along with our English narrator, Philip Bretherton. A bit of Plucky merch Devolver also launched a line of lucrative merchandise tie-ins and brand integrations! Pins featuring Jot and Pip, a mug straight from Sam's desk and a brand and a t-shirt with the Plucky Squire himself, are available for pre-order at the Devolver merch store. Bonus Believer Art Oh and there's one more thing we wanted to share! We did not expect this at all, but the developers of Cult of the Lamb made this amazingly cute art of their game in our style. I still can't get over how cute and devilish it is.

- The Plucky Squire's story starts NOW - 17 September 2024
A story 23 years in the making As our studio's first game, we are so grateful that people want to play our game. The first inkling of this game started when James & Bidds met in 2001. Though they went their separate ways, they have wanted to make a game together ever since. We are so happy that we can share that game with all of you now. This stunning papercraft launch trailer was made with Paper Engineers, Julia Yus and Yeray Pérez Vallejo. The Plucky Squire is now available. We hope it can bring a bit of the joy we felt while making it. The story behind the story On a trip to Japan James ended up in an interview for a certain popular game series you may have heard of. 17 years in Japan later, he had many Pokémon mainline and spinoff games under his belt. At the same time Bidds had started his own studio and he was making some very unique stuff. Fluidity was a liquid-based physics puzz…
- The Plucky Squire review: a charming storybook adventure, but I wish it let you go full plucko mode - 17 September 2024
I really wanted to like action adventure The Plucky Squire more than I do now, having given its charming 2D to 3D platforming a proper whirl. Yes, it's lovely to look at. Yes, hopping out of a storybook and making friends with an illustration on a coffee mug is cool. And yes, everyone can have a mildly fun time with its puzzles and fights. But that's the problem: who is everyone? At first I thought, "This game is for young kids and that's fine!", given its relative simplicity. Then I hit some puzzles and thought, "Ain't no kid figuring this out". Then it hit me. It struggles to balance the fine line between being approachable for tiny tots and layered enough for people who've graduated from "goo goo ga ga" to "oo oo aa aa my back hurts". And that's down to how plucky you're allowed to squire at any given time, because it can be surprisingly limited and, sadly, a bit underwhelming. Read…

- The Final Plucky Preview - 6 September 2024
Here's the final gameplay preview of The Plucky Squire! It only shows a small early part of the game and we still have many surprises in store. A Small Preview Our heroes have chosen to travel through Sonnet Swamps. But when they reach there, they find that they are ill-equipped to help the locals. Perhaps Jot can use his new found powers to find help in the other realm. It even looks like some of the book's critters have escaped there as well. He'll need to take on these challenges with courage, no matter how many times they may knock him down! There it is! The elven bow! But how can we convince Alwonyia to help us? Watch the whole preview to find out. The Plucky Squire's connection to Shrek? Our whole team is very busy getting everything ready for launch on September 17 but I have a few things to share from our co-founder, James Turner. Brazilian fans may have noticed that the narrato…

Hey everyone, We're very happy to show you The Plucky Squire in all 11 localizations with full audio and their voice over actors! It was a big challenge to bring the game to each new language. We've done our best to ensure that each word puzzle makes sense in all 11 localizations, along with all the bonus possibilities when you throw unintended word combinations together. We also wanted to thank our brilliant voice actors and linguists who have helped bring our story to life in each of these versions. Voice actors: Português do Brasil - Mauro Ramos
- Adorable and reality-bending action-puzzle game The Plucky Squire lets you make friends with a Magic: The Gathering card - 16 August 2024
I think if I discovered my entire life was just a story in a children's picture book, I'd probably have quite a serious breakdown. Jot, the eponymous hero of The Plucky Squire , seems unfazed by it all, however—even as he leaps from the pages of his book and discovers an entirely new 3D reality beyond his own... Read more.

- We are launching The Plucky Squire on September 17! - 15 August 2024
The tale of The Plucky Squire will begin September 17, 2024! A message from us From the heights of Honey Peak to the shores of Boogie Beach, we can’t wait to share our debut game and the world of The Plucky Squire with you. It's been a long road to get here and it's hard to believe that we'll finally be launching in one month. But in spite of the hours, months and years that have gone into it, it has truly been a joy making this game. Our aim was to capture the childhood wonder of playing games. Games on screens, on tabletops and in the world of make-believe. We initially planned for the game to be about 3-5 hours long but as development progressed, it felt right to try and fit in more and more of those wondrous moments. So we've doubled that initial content and we expect you to take about 8-10 hours in a first playthrough! Early Prototypes As we approach launch, we've been looking back…
