• Reworked Character selection and World Selection - 28 May 2023

  Small update: Reworked the character selection screen and world selection screen to be less confusing. You can now see a list of characters and worlds you've created and select which one you want from the list. This is mainly aimed at not confusing new players before they even play the game.

• Releasing Soon! - 19 May 2023

  Very excited to be releasing Oldowan. It's been a long journey from what started as a learning project and has taught me nearly everything I know about game development. I worked on Oldowan off and on throughout school and into my adult life when I found time. It's by no means the most polished game, but it's mine and I did it all myself. I hope players can enjoy it and have fun exploring and building.

• Oldowan version 0.4.1 patch - 19 August 2022

  There has been lots of feedback since the 0.4.0 version release (multiplayer). I've fixed a ton of bugs related to multiplayer as well as some general bugs. Mainly things like items not synced in work stations should be improved and syncing a lot better. I'm sure there are still some issues with this, but hopefully they are uncommon. I do hope they are reported if found. I want to get around to more features/things to do and hopefully I can now that a bunch of bugs have been knocked out. I still have much planned.

• Multiplayer support added! - 1 August 2022

  I know it's been a while, but that's because I have only really been working on multiplayer, which I am excited to announce is currently playable in the demo! It's in an early state so there might be some bugginess, but it mostly works! Invite up to 3 friends to your world and set out to craft until your heart is content. Share resources, fight off animals, explore mines and more!

  Oldowan 0.3.2 adds two new buildings, the Grass Hut and the Stone Hut. The Grass Hut serves as a decent early game home. The Stone Hut is a bit more cozy and can have doors and a roof placed on it. Players can now create a Small Bag to increase their carrying weight by 30lbs. Wolves now have a 25% chance to spawn when entering caves. Every odd-numbered morning enemies will seek out the player and attempt to assert their dominance. It's the player's duty to make sure the enemies fail. The difficulty of enemies will increase until morning 13. At morning 13 and later, the enemies will be randomized. There's now an achievement for making an iron tool. Other improvements Congrats, players are now 7.1% faster. Teepee villagers now drop random items and have more health. Reduced armor rating of cloth and leather armors. • Oldowan Version 0.3.1 (Demo) Released - 11 February 2022

  Version 0.3.1 brings a new enemy to Oldowan. They are found in the plains and they do not like strangers. If you see their teepees, make sure you are prepared before you approach.

• Development Update - 29 September 2021

  Thanks for checking out the development update, let's get started. Torches and Sap Added torches because they existed and are useful. A common fuel for torches was a pinecone covered in pine sap, so I added Sap. It generates on pine trees and replenishes about every 10 minutes. Looking forward to adding more crafting recipes using Sap. Painting How it's done: First you'll have to gather your raw materials used in the paint, typically ore, clay or charcoal. Then crush it really finely in a Mortar & Pestle. You can also mix paints together in the Mortar & Pestle to make different colors. After that, just add a bit of water, a shell to hold the paint, some paintbrush materials and you're ready to vandalize your caves and houses. I expect to see many paintings of animals, landscapes, still lifes, and certainly not anything inappropriate. You can even paint the ceiling like the old dudes use…
