Short description
Street Boy tells the story of Arlinton, a Jamaican boy hustling with his handcart, helping his neighbors, and standing up to local thugs trying to tear his community apart.
About this game
School is out in Hope Bay , a little seaside town on Jamaica's Portland coast, and Arlinton has a plan. All he has is an old wooden handcart, but this summer there's a race, and the prize money could change everything. ONE SUMMER, ONE CART, ONE RACE Push your handcart around town and earn every dollar: deliver for neighbours, sell juice and soup, haul scrap, run errands for the shops. Save up, collect parts and build a motorised handcart fast enough to win on race day. Win, and the prize pays for school in September, helps Granny with the bills, and leaves enough for a summer with your friends that you'll never forget. TROUBLE COMES TO HOPE BAY Then a gangster on the run from the police slips into the community and hides in plain sight, and some of the people meant to protect Hope Bay are looking the other way. In Hope Bay, nobody likes an informer. So Arlinton has to be smarter than that: listen, ask the right questions, gather the proof and let the truth come out on its own, without ever snitching. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT A cart that's all yours. Start with a creaky wooden handcart, then build, paint and upgrade it, from new wheels to a motor, until it's ready for race day. Hustle, Jamaican style. Sell, deliver and do odd jobs for J$. Earn Respect around town and people start paying you better. Leave it better than you found it. Clean the beaches, recycle plastic and scrap, and grow food. Hope Bay looks better the more you care for it. A coming-of-age summer. Learn to drive at Delroy's driving school, learn life from Granny and Ras Tan, make choices, make mistakes and grow up a little. Real Jamaican culture. Food, patois, music, yard life and folklore, built from lived experience, not postcards. Stay out late and you might even meet a duppy. Voiced in Jamaican Patois. The characters speak real Patois, with subtitles in 12 languages so nobody misses a word. Cozy when you want it. Swim in the bay, row out from the pier, go fishing, ride a donkey or just turn up the radio. No rush. BETTER WITH FRIENDS Hope Bay is even more fun together. Host a game, join a friend, or jump onto a dedicated server. Co-op: push carts side by side, share jobs, pay each othe…
