- Sky Link 2 First Quarter 2025 Patch Notes - 3 April 2025
Welcome! Hello and thank you for following Sky Link's epic journey. A New Direction We've been slowly hinting at this in the last few updates, though today I want to 100% confirm it and answer all the questions I've been getting. We're doing something to take Sky Link in a slightly different direction. I'm excited to show it off too. We're experimenting with large maps and it really makes for a fun game. This map is large enough for your biggest and most epic of battles. This map is setup with five different cities, each one is huge, and they form a ring around the hidden and buried Center Arena. The Hidden Vaults While experimenting in this map, you would never believe what I found. Flying around, having a good 'ol time, I found Center Arena hidden in the depths under the actual Big Map! This was so exciting! Familiar ground you can really take advantage of! FIXES Many issues reported…
- Patch Notes February 2025 - 1 March 2025
Hello and thanks for stopping in! Sky Link is a flight simulator first, and a combat experience second. It's an exciting game that's no bodies, and no blood. Lots of explosions though! February has been a blizzard of activity here at Odisi. We've got a couple of new developers on the team and we're ready to take this game to a whole new level. As promised, there are big ideas in maps coming this year. This week in our internal test we played in a really large map, and it was awesome. There is a ton of potential and this one is going to be big. Missiles have been really a focus this month. Setting up new pathing and allowing for a quick dodge that isn't super easy to do was the goal, and it's looking really good so far. In playtesting I'm able to dodge a good share of missiles when I have time to respond. Really great to have an option besides tactical abilities in missile avoidance. Now…
- January 2025 Patch Notes - 1 February 2025
Hello and welcome! I'm excited to go over all the changes and updates we've been working on this month. January is always a good time to set goals and make plans, and Odisi games has been doing exactly that. In this update we'll go over all the new modes, features, and abilities that we've been working on. So strap in, secure your helmet, and power up your engines. New maps are coming in 2025, though the new maps are still in testing now. There's a lot of room to navigate, a few spots for epic firefights, and a couple spots that are great for those who like to hide and snipe. I'm really excited to see this map flushed out! The missiles have been in the game a long time, and a lot of the drones have access to them. The missiles currently are quick, and if you're targeted you can only escape through use of an ability; like invisibility. The team has been working to make missiles just as q…
- December 2024 Patch Notes - 2 January 2025
Happy New Year!! With the holidays behind us I'm excited to show off some of the hard work from 2024. So welcome in! Grab a bite and check it out! 2024 was an incredible year. Full of surprises, fun, and new people. Thank you all who have joined in, and a huge welcome to anyone who wants to join our beta tests in 2025! Without any further delay, here's an Odisi 2024 Sky Link Recap. The most noticeable change from our public playtesting has been the removal of blackboxes. Team deathmatch has had the black boxes and respawning completely removed, so now when your'e out, you're out! The games are so fast now there's an extra 2 rounds that have been added to make it up. Possibly the best change so far has been the focus and attention to detail in the flight of the drones themselves. With the update to Unreal Engine 5 Odisi's taken the time to really do well with the flight within Sky Link.…
- November Patch Notes 2024 - 2 December 2024
Christmas is around the corner and it's always such a beautiful time of the year. All of us here at Odisi Games wish you a Happy Holiday season! Thanks for stopping in! We've had a lot going on and I'm excited to share it, so let's get to it. Throughout November we have been testing a new game mode internally, sorry beta testers! This mode is a capture the flag and it's been pretty exciting to be a part of. The core functionality of the game's been upgraded, and our client/server model is far more robust now than it's ever been. Our Chaos testing has been really looking great too. I smile every time I see the new explosions. Chaos is our code name for destructible elements within Sky Link. Soon we'll have barrels that explode, windows that shatter, and signs that you can shoot apart too. Even buildings, potentially. Some internally testing is still on going, though I've been very excite…
- Happy Thanksgiving! - 29 October 2024
Welcome to November! Halloween was incredible! Now we get to give our thanks, and I'd like to give a huge shout out to all of the playtesters that have been in and joined us in this incredible experience. Thank you all for your feedback, your time, and all the fun we've had! Happy Thanksgiving! Throughout November Odisi has been working on our roadmap for Chaos, which includes destructable world elements and a new game mode that we've been testing internally. It's also been a ton of fun! In this new mode you have to hold an item for a timer and then bring it in for a touch down. I'm excited for this to get added in, so keep your eyes peeled for this one! We've been playing in Skirmish and the UI needs an update to include this before we'll see it in the testing environment. Modular weapons have also been testing pretty heavily, and having individual load outs will certainly increase the…
- Happy Halloween from Sky Link 2! - 1 October 2024
Welcome to October! Halloween and the fall season has always been my favorite of seasons. Lots to go over, so let's get to it! CHAOS Throughout September we ran many internal tests as well with a focus on what we're calling Chaos. We have been working to setup destructible elements, stuff you can shoot and have it explode or fall apart. Like barrels, and windows. When you're flying through the map and shoot a barrel it'll explode, and there's nothing like a good explosion to get your drone battle started! UI The UI screens in Sky Link have had a few polishes throughout September. Small fixes and corrections have been entered for the End Game screen, the Rewards screen, and the Lobby. SFX We have had a recurring issue with missile lock on sounds repeating after the missiles gone, and that has been resolved this month too! This was one that got a lot of attention and caused some annoyance…
- August 2024 Patch Notes - 1 September 2024
Welcome to September! August was busy and there's so much progress to discuss in this update! Let's start with the biggest update. Sky Link: Freefire has recently been renamed Sky Link 2! Sky Link 2 will still always be free to play! With that big announcement, I'm excited to go over all the changes within the game. Thanks for stopping in! New Game Mode! We have been testing a no respawn and no blackbox setup for Team Death Match, and it has made matches so fast and furious! The battle has been increased from best of 3 to best of 5 to compensate for the quickness of the rounds, and this also makes it much more difficult for an ally to steal your kill. Chaos and Destruction! Throughout August Odisi's focus has been spread between a few things. We have been working on Chaos testing, to add elements into Sky Link that are destructible. Being able to shoot out a window or knock down a build…
- July 2024 Patch Notes - 1 August 2024
Happy July! Welcome Sky Captains! It's officially summer time! Time to break out the lawn chairs and and some potato chips. Fire up that barbecue! Sky Link 2 has been moving in a new direction, and we've put a lot of work behind it already. I'm pretty excited to go over all of the changes, so let's get to it! (The world of Sky Link) Quality of Life Updates First and foremost, we have a quality of life update that everyone has been asking for in all our playtests. Now when you leave Sky Link, your settings will save and be available for you on your return! (Controller settings were added earlier this year!) Some Quick Planned Updates And if that isn't enough, we have a whole world of changes to go over this month too. Modular weapons are coming! Today each drone is set with a specific weapon, and our developers are working to open this up so every load out can be as unique as the pilot t…
- June Patch Notes - 1 July 2024
Welcome Sky Captains to the start of an incredible summer! Odisi Games has been working diligently to get Sky Link ready for release, and there are some incredible improvements this month to share; so let's get to it! To start out, our smallest map has been shown a lot of love this month. Center Arena is a cave system that is enclosed, and it was just a bit too small with the updated flight mode we implemented earlier this year. Originally it was made for a skirmish mode and then later became part of our Team Death Match rotation. We decide to expand the map, introducing 2 bases on the sides and creating more spaces for flanking. Now you can be much more strategic with your allies whenever you encounter this map! Another small change I feel really good about, the discord button in the game now works to connect you to the Sky Link discord! We have been working with the enemy AI systems a…
- May 2024 Patch Notes - 1 June 2024
Happy June Sky Captains! Summer’s finally here! It’s time for hotdogs, picnics, and insane drone battles! Lots of updates to share this month, so let’s get to it! First up, the UI we've continued to expand and enhance throughout May. The loading screens and UI will be looked at and further refined in the coming months as well. Many fixes for the UI went in as the Party system was developed throughout May. Another change you're sure to notice, we now have a loading hexagon to confirm the game's about to begin! The Party System is of paramount importance, as that’s how you’re going to squad up with your friends when you first get in Sky Link. There’s been a lot of work on the chat system in May. To start, names are now displayed correctly on the invite banner. Invites sent now show up as you’d expect. The Mass Invite feature now creates a party when the mass invitation is sent out. We saw…
- April 2024 Patch Notes - 1 May 2024
Welcome Sky Captains! We have had a hard worked month, and there is a lot to show off with our migration to Unreal Engine 5.3 further behind us now. Key bindings have been a large focus through April, and we have the ability now to use controllers! Key Mappings This is the one I’m most excited about myself. We saw this begin last month, and this month we’ve seen the results in our beta test environment for our Friday beta tests. Former issues with remapping the mouse buttons have been resolved in a series of updates this month, and a new set of bindings has been made available for all commands in game(allowing easy access to controllers and partial support for joysticks). Come test with us! Weapons Update Missiles have had several fixes and changes this month. A target detection now takes into account the path of the missile and explosion effects. The intercept direction of the missile…
- March 2024 Patch Notes - 1 April 2024
Hello Sky Captains! March has been good to us, and I'm excited to share a bit of what Odisi Games has dropped for Sky Link: Freefire! Sky Link: Freefire has been moved to Unreal engine version 5.3! There have been a number of challenges with this move though the additional features offered by the newer Unreal Engine are too exciting to pass up. The UI presented a number of issues in the move, and there's more of course in all the fine details below. Thanks for stopping in! Let's get to it. The most exciting change for me personally is the addition of controller support. We've added a second column to the key bindings for controllers, so you can now assign a single action to 2 separate keys! The party system has been another action item throughout March. You can now party up with your friends in Sky Link: Freefire! Text chat functionality has been added as well. VFX Significantly lowered…
- February 2024 Patch Notes - 1 March 2024
Welcome in Sky Captains! Glad to have you aboard. It's been another incredible month here at Odisi Games. February has brought a lot of change, we’ve even been testing a new drone we’ve named Archangel! Beta Testing Updates To get started, there have been updates based on player testing feedback this month!! We polled our beta testers, asking what drone is the most OP. The answers were almost unanimous, and our development team has already made some changes to correct the balance! The Megadon has had its speed and armor rating lowered. A fix has been submitted as well for the burning grenade exploding on the Megadon’s shield. You can now fire your grenade across the map with your shield up! VFX Reimagined blasts for Shotguns, Rifles, and Machine Guns! In VFX the muzzle blast and first person views have been in our sights and some really incredible work has been done. The shotgun, machin…
- January 2024 Patch Notes - 1 February 2024
Welcome Sky Captains! With January behind us it's time to go over all the new updates and changes in Sky Link: Freefire. Garage Working out the issues in the UI while in the garage and getting everything perfect has been a primary focus throughout January. The hitboxes for the drones have been corrected and the UI itself has had a major overhaul. We're adding a party system to more easily find and play with your friends! The work to set this up is ongoing, and there's still some work to do before this is ready though it's definitely the biggest news this year! The Leaderboard has been updated and is still undergoing changes. Currently it looks great, and we have a list of playtesters in their rankings! Some other updates made to the UI in January include: * Enlarged text for higher resolution PCs * Issue with player's names not displaying on kills has been fixed! VFX Our VFX team has be…
- December Patch Notes And Year End Recap - 30 December 2023
Thank you for stopping in! Odisi Games wants to wish you a Happy New Year! It's really been an incredible year here at Odisi Games. We are moving the game in a slightly new direction, and it's so exciting to be on the forefront of this adventure! So, what's new in Skylink:Freefire? We started the year with an overhaul to the flight system, and we’re now on a physics based flight that feels more responsive, quicker, and far more realistic. This was quite the undertaking. The physics based flight system was initially finished around March and then each drone had to be updated to work with the new system. In the middle of setting up all of the drones to work in the new flight system, it was decided that Skylink would move into more modular weapons. Making things modular will ensure more variety in every battle and my favorite part, it’s going to make your drone far more personal once you c…
- November Patch Notes - 1 December 2023
November is always an exciting month, one of my favorites of the year. The team here at Odisi Games have been hard at work, and I'm excited to share some of the new updates in Skylink:Freefire. We've been quietly doing beta tests on Fridays and it's helped keep our priorities in perspective. If you're interested in checking it out, join us on the discord to get involved! Seasoned players will likely first notice the new leaderboard setup in the main menu where you can see everyone who's been testing with us in the beta tests on Friday. Seasoned players will notice the music has been remastered for a better experience both in the menus and during gameplay. Incoming missiles now have noticeable sound effects to ensure you're aware they are seeking you out! Smoke and cloud effects have been remastered. Players recovered by teammates will no longer return at full health to ensure proper gam…
- October Patch Notes - 1 November 2023
Throughout the month of October we here at Odisi games have really been focused on getting the new physics based flight setup and adjusted, so that it's easy to pickup and yet more difficult to master. The work has been worth it, and the new physics based flight has been simply incredible. Lots of other work is going on behind the scenes too! We’re making our way towards the end goal of having all drones, weapon systems, and armors be interchangeable and more modular, and I’m excited to see this through. Physics Based Flight Updates: * Full implementation of the experimental control mode, replacing the previous stabilized mode. * Restructured various control-related systems. * Restructured the camera to better assist in aiming while in reverse. * Fixed thruster sockets on raptor not being attached to the associated bones. Sound Effects Updates: * Enemy engine volume and pitch tweaks, sh…
- September 2023 Patch Notes - 29 September 2023
https://mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net/project_modules/max_1200/cb98a8152287853.631b2fa69abc8.jpg With September’s patch the audio in the new animated logo has been updated to align more carefully with the video. We have had an incredible month with a lot of changes on the back end. We have slowly been moving to a more modular design system and this will speed up development significantly. The Physics Based flight is updated and now has a toggle based system for changing specific variables to the players preferences. Lots to go over this month! Game Balance: * Overtime spectator now spawns properly. * Round Counter UI now starts as 0/0. * Guided Missile kills now apply to player kill count. * All players revived from Blackbox will return with half vitals. * Fix issue where players were respawning in at half vitals. * Added reverse thrust to Type 3B to fix issues where reversing would cause t…
- Sky Link: FreeFire August 2023 Patch Notes - 1 September 2023
Our new physics-based flight is in, and more drones are being added by the week. As the new physics-based flight system is being rolled out we have also been changing some of the weapons on the drones. The idea will be more modular weapons and items in the future. There are some big changes with the new physics-based flight system: Added optional ability for drones to zoom (Z key by default). Added Q and E to barrel roll while flying in stabilized mode. A and D to roll in Acrobat mode. C is now an air brake and no longer kills the engine, to help with steadying for shots and turning tight corners. The New Missile System is in! Fixes related Missiles are below: Fixed delayed damage issue related to how missiles were communicated over the network. Fixed issue where the missile launch SFX was not playing for all players. Fixed issue where players could spawn multiple missiles when pressing…
